The ultimate guide to preparing AUTHENTIC Apulian cuisine
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2002-10-24
This is a thoughtful - and working - cookbook. It is trade PB size, to fit easily on the counter alongside the cooking paraphernalia. It has glossy paper covers that easily wipe clean. It is wire-bound AT THE BACK, so it lays totally flat, yet you can see the spine title when it is on the shelf. Finally, the dozens of authentic Southern Italian family recipes are augmented with charming anecdotes, sprinkled throughout the book, that communicate the very thought and feeling of Apulian cuisine. This book is a laborious, loving and accurate translation of old family recipes where the measurements often consisted of: "Some of this...", "A pinch of that...", and "How much? You know, just enough." I think that you will enjoy - and use - this book!

What is the Catholic Church?

God's family... Scott Hahn explains wonderfuly what todays culture has wiped from our hearts. If you're a Catholic who wonders why you bother going to church, or if you are not a Catholic and you wonder what the difference is that seperates the Catholic church from every other, you'll find the answer very clear in this audio presentation. The message is clear, yet it is packed full of details. It brings the meaning of family back into religion where it was created!
I was raised Catholic and had been wondering why I still bother with the Church. It felt to me like the Church overcomplicated God and the Bible. But that was because I was looking at the Church as a creation of man rather than a family of God.
Hahn opens up the meaning of Family and explains why Christians are so devided, using the Bible as a guide!
Even if you are not a Catholic, this is an extremely wonderful look at the meaning of the word, Family.
This has been one of the strongest building blocks for me, I very hightly reccomend it.

This would be great for anybody who is married or thinking about getting married, or wanting to save their marriage, because Dr. and Mrs. Hahn give a powerful set of talks here about the mysteries of marriage and how God makes it so much more beautiful by giving it such rich meaning. (They also bring a sense of humor to the subject.) It's especially interesting to follow along with the path the Hahns themselves took, from a skeptical, "world-centered" attitude to an almost mystical (though very reality-based) perspective, by being open-minded enough to examine all the evidence and honest enough with themselves to make the logical conclusion a part of their lives. It will change the way you look at your spouse and children, if you are blessed with them.

All the Chicken Soup books are very sweet. I got this one and the one for teenage souls for my son. He liked reading the intimate stories about college, since he'll be there soon. But more personally meaningful was a copy of "Words to Live By: A Journal of Wisdomfor Someone You Love" that my wife and I filled out for him, with our own life lessons and experiences. It started some wonderful conversations. I highly recommend it too.

I enjoyed reading these heart-warming stories that touched my soul. They relate my own feelings of confusion, doubts, and excitement I had during my first college experience. I got this book for a gift from my mom, and having this book helped got through my first year. It is a perfect gift for any new college student.

This book prepared me for getting into Algonquin. Algonquin is a huge campus filled with thousands of students, and I was this small town girl going through a big change. I expected the workload to be intense, and that it was a lot different from high school. In college, no student needed discipline, but in high school you did. I was responsible enough to be treated like an adult. I was now entering into adulthood. Unfortunely, getting to school was always frustrating, because every day I travelled on the bus for a least an hour. I did not own a car and still don't. My home was far, far away. I missed my mom so much that I wanted to go home and drop all my courses. I needed her more than anyone or anything. The thing was I just needed give myself some time. I just couldn't give up on everything I worked for to get into college. I was slowly adapting new surroundings. Then I remembered one of the messages in the book that you should go for your dreams and never give up. I decided to continue with my studies, and get on with life - life's a journey. I'm learning new things every day.

These stories have given me love, hope, and encouragement. First year isn't always easy, you just have to hang in there. This book guided me through tough times. I learned to stand strong whenever trouble comes my way. I highly recommend to all college students.

As a college student myself , I really enjoyed reading this book over the summer. The stories made me laugh a little as well as tear up a little, after thinking about my first year of college, as I am a rising sophomore, and the stories were classic Chicken Soup-very fun !

I really enjoyed reading this. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you see that you are not the only college student like that. If only colleges gave this out when you receive your acceptance letter!

I'm only on page 76 and I'm bored. I thought this book was going to be full of stories from college students but I'm seeing essay from parent after parent after parent (even though the one about hugging was very cute!) I'm disappointed and I'm glad I didn't pay much for it, because I'm selling it right now.

Shifting The Burden Of Truth is a ground-breaking book for the victim or survivor of sexual abuse and/or incest! One should never enter into a life-changing decision without the proper information and support and this book provides lots of both. It is written in a warm and supportive style and all legal jargon is explained so that it is understandable to the average person. My story is in this book under a pseudonym--but even if that were not the case, this book changed my life and was my constant companion during a very difficult journey!

Preparation for any parent.

A systematic and thorough guidebook for victims of child abuse, which provides explanations of what the laws are and how they can work for the victim. Although this book is now five years old, its lessons are invaluable. You see, in a CRIMINAL case, it is up to the VICTIM to prove the case. But if the victim SUES the attacker, the situation is reversed. All parents should read this book

Interesting Look At End Times

Review Date: 2007-10-10
As my title states, this movie presents an interesting interpretation of end time events. The acting isn't great, but the biblical theology is pretty good with a couple of interesting side stories. Probably not one you'd have for your personal library, but worth renting if nothing else is in.

It's "come to you-know-who" time.

This film is billed as science fiction and it is. It is, however, a very heavy-handed and almost continuous message for salvation via you-know-who. Not surprisingly it is produced by one of the major church organizations. A competent cast including one of the ever-present Baldwins, and if you either are sympathetic to the constantly repeated message or can avoid letting it get in your way, a moderately enjoyable sci-fi flick.

Sometimes it hurts. I read these reviews of "angry" people and wonder why they ever watched this movie in the first place? I read another review that gave a very intelligent observation. If you don't want to watch it don't. As that reviewer stated and I restate here, I wouldn't watch a movie on things I don't agree or identify with. I never watched "Broke Back Mountain", for instance because it just isn't for me. I never watched it knowing that, to then write a scathing review to top it off.

Then I realized some of them watched it as "their" chance. Yes, we all have our chance. We will all hear the word of God and have to make a choice. Believe, or don't believe.

With all of that said, I believe many of those that have watched this movie and are so angry about it were meant to watch it. We all have the opportunity to find Jesus and we all have free will to make that choice on our own. Those so angry about this film have been touched by it and realize they are now forced to choose. This angers them and they are not ready to make choice.

As far as the movie goes, it was much better than I expected after reading some of those reviews, and if you proclaim to be a Christian, I would recommend that you watch it TODAY! If you are not a Christian and wonder what it is all about, this film will not answer all of your questions, and will likely leave you with more questions. It will however leave you with the knowledge that you now have a choice to make, and if you need to do some research to make that choice, do it NOW. Find a church, seek advice, and I will Pray that you choose life. Choose Free Will. Choose Freedom. Choose Jesus!

First, Stephen Baldwin delivers a great performance here. I was most impressed with the fact that 1. They state the name of Jesus Christ as the savior of the world, which a lot of so-called Christian movies have somehow moved away from and 2. It is as accurate representation of the tribulation period as any, so those of you that mock and live to see this if it happens in your lifetime, this film might serve a purpose for you then.

Good movie to watch with your unsaved friends.
