This book details the relationship between Latin America and the United states in recent history. Not only is this a very interesting tale of violence, money, and struggle, but it is a story that must never be forgotten. The struggle is still ongoing for Latin America to achieve stability and reverence. Coerver and Hall do an excellent job detaling all the important information and provide a remarkable and informative tail of a past that is not so far away.

A brand new book containing more than 600 large, sharp, black and white photos and a gorgeous 16 page full color section. There's plenty of background information provided, in addition to the current pricing. Topics range from A & P, Adams Gum, Anheuser-Busch, to International Harvester, John Deere, Ken-L, to Z.B.T., and Zeno Gum. This is a good general reference work for the advertising collector, covering more than 5,000 listings. A very complete index, makes item location easy. The advertising collector will refer to this up-do-date volume often.

Lets cut to the chase. This book isn't canon. There is even a disclaimer in the front publishing credits that say the book is an interpretation of the Star Trek universe by the author. Now the author, Shane Johnson, did get as much details as he could from official sources. The thing is there are questions that just aren't answered in other sources that Shane tries to fill the gaps in. Unfortunately Paramount doesn't count that official.
What this book has is details on the various races that have appeared on the Star Trek original series and The Next Generation. There is background on racial traits, culture and even a geographical view of their home planet. The information seems solid, and I haven't found any real contradictions to official sources. Then again I'm not a hard-core Trekker. So take that with the appropriate grain of salt.
The thing is you don't get detailed alien information from other sources. Sure the major races like Vulcans, Romulans and Klingons are covered in great detail elsewhere, but what about the Gorn, Andorians, Binars, Horta and others? That's what this book fills the blanks in. Same goes for various creatures mentioned or shown like tribbles, the mugato and even details on the Denbian slime devil. I think there is also info on various flora from visited planets too.
Alas, until you can get OFFICIAL information on this stuff this book is the only place you can speculate. If you are a do-or-die Star Trek fan that must have canon or nothing obviously this book isn't for you. However if you are willing to take the information without Paramount's stamp of approval (and you never know... it might end up accurate in the end) and can find the book at a pretty cheap price then go for it.

I did recieve my book in a timely fashion but the seller should have mentioned that the book was excessivley marked up. All the chapter questions where done in pencil(at lease they can be erased), It has been customery for sellers to note that the books are highlighted and/or pen or pencil marked. I wasn't happy since I do look for this type of disclosure when selecting a buyer.

Overall the book contains good information. However... at times the definitions are ridiculously and unnessisarily long-winded... most of the content is common sense-- wait...so you are telling me I should be ethical?... wait...people of different cultures are...different? Wha?! no way!!
Maybe I'm a tad cynical but give me a break... I give the book two stars for the little bit of useful content.
It's not worth the money to buy the 11th edition however if you need the book for class and the professor tests extensively on book content rather than general ideas... you'll probably need the 11th

I haven't hit my 21st birthday yet, and I've had my share of run-ins with the law, so I was somewhat familiar with the American Penal System before I read this for a class in college. That said, Don Pember patronizes the hell out of this book. On page 492, it says "The photo was a picture of a diary farmer and a cow standing in the field." Yep. A diary farmer. It made the typo; I'm just repeating it. On page 383, it says "Certainly a reporter could not be laid by the heels for contempt because he missed the essential point in a trial or failed to summarize the issues to accord with the views of the judge who sat on the case." On page 370, it uses the word "lawbreaker." Page 269: "Society often judges the rape victim to be as guilty as the rapist." haha god gimme a break

I've just finished writing a paper for my Advanced Placement Journalism class about freedom of speech and obscenity over the radio. This book was one of my best sources. It portrayed Supreme Court cases and laws passed by Congress in great depth and detail and managed to write it all in a language most Americans will understand. I plan to use this book for every essay I can.

I bought this book with the hope of reading how top contemporary Protestant scholars address the issue of ecclesiology espoused by Rome and the Orthodox. It left me sadly disappointed. The chapter that addresses the four marks of the church defined in the nicene creed did not attempt to reconcile Protestant perceptions of those terms with the historical understanding of the council fathers. None dealt substantially with Eph 5:32. I was further saddened that one author criticized the piety of Catholics on the basis of his understanding rather than taking the time to just ask some of them why they were doing it. All guns trained against Catholicism while the Eastern Orthodox hold nearly identical views on ecclesiology. Perhaps someday a book with less rhetoric and polemic will attempt to address issues that build understanding rather than polarizing divisiveness.

The property of the incoming laser light is, of course, its coherence. Plus, typically, it is collimated as plane waves.
Various applications in spectroscopy and atomic and nuclear physics are studied. Turns out that the spectroscopy lends itself well to various diagnostic and industrial uses.
As with all Dover books, the price is very economical. When typical texts from other publishers might be in the $100 range.
