As a sex coach and instructor, this book helped me answer a lot of questions for my clients about female orgasm. I also have several friends who have trouble in that area. I made it part of my library along with two other books that have proven invaluable and that I have shared with all my clients and friends: (1) Five Minutes to Orgasm Every Time You Make Love: Female Orgasm Made Simple. This 3-step technique takes the mystique out of female orgasm and makes it the natural and simple act it should be. (2) Was that an earthquake? The Sensuous Couple's (Flip Over) Guide to Seismic Oral Sex. This flip over book has tons of information about fellatio on one side, then flip it over and you have just as much information about cunnilingus. A must for couples of any age, sex or experience.

I just received my order of "I <3 Female Orgasm" today, and have been engrossed ever since. The amount of information found in the approximately 300 page book is incredible, as well as incredibly well written. I love the way that when the authors sometimes refer to a certain concept, they will also tell you the page number to get more detail about that concept. They also frequently recommend other books for more information. I also enjoy the wonderful anecdotes and little quotes that are constantly interspersed within the book. I frequently laughed aloud while reading some of the stories. ^_^

This book is an all inclusive book about female sex, not just female orgasm, and is helpful on many levels. If you are the least bit interested in females and sex put together, I definitely recommend this book for you to read and enjoy.

Anyone who is female - or anyone who sleeps with females - needs to read this book. It's written in a clear, friendly, sometimes funny way. It provides a ton of great information and insights. I learned a lot from this book, as I think would anyone. I loved that it is also inclusive of everyone, straight or not. This would also be a great book to give to a girl before she becomes sexually active with a partner. Please do yourself a favor and read this book right now!

As a cropper myself, I enjoyed the theme of this book even though, the idea of two women who just happen to meet at a scrapbook class discovering they were both fathered by the same "world famous" man is just a tad hard to swallow. The fact that one of them had a supermodel for a mom, who must have also have been famous and the object of the public eye is even more far fetched. But the bones of the story about women discovering themselves and going on when they are confronted with trouble and find that what they believed to be true is only an illusion is encouraging.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me so thankful for all the relationships I have with women of all ages. We are wisest together! It also made me focus on precious memories with my family and close friends, and made me appreciate all those moments that make life meaningful. After reading this book, I may even start to scrapbook! I can't wait for Kathleen Reid to write a sequel!

The book A Page Out of Life focuses on the types of relationships people have with their families, their friends, and themselves. The main characters are women who are at different stages of their lives. Ashley is a young mother who is overwhelmed with four children. Libby is struggling to help her adult son who is facing legal troubles. Tara, on the other hand, is single and longing to have a family. Brought together through a scrapbooking club, these women find they have other things in common and each becomes an important source of strength and inspiration for the others.

This book provides an easy and enjoyable reading experience. The main characters are well-developed and likeable. Each reader should be able to connect with at least one character because their stories revolve mainly around everyday occurrences in life. Prepare for an outpouring of emotions. There were times when I laughed and times I was close to tears. I enjoyed how the author took me through the thought processes of the characters as they were making important decisions about their futures. Doing this helped make the characters seem more real to me.

A Page Out of Life offers two important messages for its readers. First, everyone has the ability to contribute something to help another person in need. Small acts of kindness, even if it is listening to someone's problems or offering to babysit for their children, are often rewarded with large amounts of gratitude. The second message is to accept yourself for who you are and do not allow others to judge you. If you want to make changes in your life then you should, but it must be done for the right reasons.

A Page Out of Life is a well-written story that will touch the hearts of its readers. Kathleen Reid has created credible characters whose paths crossed through a hobby about which they are passionate. I am looking forward to her future works.

I found this book so topical that I suggested it for my book group. We will be discussing it this fall! I think it addresses the unspoken fear of many boomers -- getting old. I took this book with me on plane trip. I found people doing double takes when they saw the title. Even our cabin attendant wanted to give me an answer to the title's question. Komaiko handles the subject with loving humor.

This is a brilliant, compassionate, funny, inspired, dedicated quick read! It is, I believe the best book about relationships I've read in a very long time. Leah Komaiko says what I think but have never been able to verbalize much less write and put out into the public! When is her next book out?

I am so impressed by the honesty of the author, Leah Komaiko--her fear of being old and her sense of insecurity. I am also pleased that she found a way to go through her fear. I am so sorry to know that Adele (the 94 years old lady in the book) was abandoned by her family with no particular reasons. I remember my 89 years old father told me that the worst thing to be old is... you were young not too long ago. And when you get older you would prefer to be with your family. I can imagine how Adele felt when she was left at a nursery home by herself with no visitations from her family... It is a wonderful book!

I was touched by the honesty, simplicity and humor of Leah Komaiko's writing in this wonderful book. As a 44-year-old woman, I relate to the challenges of aging in our youth-worshipping culture. I was also struck by the ways in which the friendship between these two women progressed. There were moments when the author seemed ready to "throw in the towel," but the fact that she persisted even when things didn't go quite the way she planned was an inspiring example of how to love another human being, warts and all. I recommend this book to anyone.

I saw Leah Kamaiko interviewed on last Sunday's Today Show. We were also treated to footage of Leah and Adele walking and talking together. True soulmates. Seeing them reminded me of how moved I was when I read "Am I Old Yet?" the book Leah wrote so that all of us could share what these two wonderful women have learned from each other. There is only one age, alive, and that life is best lived in connection to ourselves and each other. Leah's willingness to face her fears of aging and learn from them gives gentle space for the rest of us to explore this taboo subject. For years in my psychotherapy practice I have worked with many people facing aging and mortality issues for themselves and their loved ones. "Am I Old Yet?" is poignant and wise. It illuminates while it confronts and comforts. I highly recommend this book. It is a valuable resource for our continuing collective journey.

PAGETURNER ALERT!!!

Wow! I had no idea when I started this book it would be SO GOOD! FAB is Sex in the City meets Waiting To Exhale. It was really hard for me to put this book down!

Once you meet the four main characters you'll have a hard time choosing which one is your favorite. Bianca quit her job as fashion publicist to move to LA to be a TV publicist, Taylor is a high powered lawyer who hardly ever has time for herself, Roxanne is a struggling actress/sex addict and Carolyn has low self esteem, but she's in love with her job.

I laughed, cried and talked out loud as I read each chapter of the girls lives. This book is fiction, but I feel as though every woman can see herself in one of these characters. The authors of FAB did an amazing job writing this novel. It deserves more than just five stars. This book was a perfect and flawless pageturner!!!!!!

This book has moved to the rankings of one of my favorite books ever! It was so smart and witty...I couldn't put it down and I was so sad when it ended. These characters were fresh and fun, they were confident but still flawed, and they were so relatable.
Not once was a character described by skin color or something else trivial, this book actually made fun of books like that! It was such a refreshing and smart read, I would recommend it to any reading diva!

Four Musketeers

Review Date: 2005-11-17
FAB is the story of four friends who are trying to balance their careers while looking for love. Bianca has moved from New York to Hollywood as a television publicist, but finds her paycheck doesn't cover her lavish lifestyle, and she discovers the men in Hollywood don't follow her rules. Carolyn is a successful advertising executive; however, her love life isn't going so smoothly, and she has self-esteem issues that have her always belittling herself. Taylor is a corporate attorney who works six to seven days a week and can't find a man worth spending her time with until she meets Meschach. Finally, there is Roxanne, a struggling actress who has hit a standstill in her career and must take a break or lose her mind.

The four friends are fiercely loyal to one another and offer each other advice when things seem to be a bit rocky. The ladies must make some hard decisions in their personal and professional lives in order to find their true happiness. Bianca must hit rock bottom before realizing it is not about the name brands you are rocking, it is about being yourself. Carolyn must learn to love herself to find her true love, which happens to be closer than she realizes. Taylor must face her fears of rejection and learn to balance work and life by taking a leap of faith. Roxanne must undertake a small sabbatical to find her muse and reinvigorate her career.

As successful as these ladies are, they still harbor the same issues of most women as they maneuver in the dating world, searching for the right man. However, they know they can depend on each other no matter what and will be friends until the end. The quests to balance work and find Mr. Right makes for some witty moments between the ladies. The characters are easily relatable to most hardworking and successful African-American women. Their pain, hurt and eventual understanding makes them believable. Although the story is not fresh, since it centers on female friends searching for love, the approach with four different authors was. The writing was skillfully crafted where each character had a strong voice. My only issue with the story was at times there was too much narrative and not enough dialogue, which tended to slow the pace down a bit. When the dialogue was there, it brought out laugh-out-loud moments and kept me turning the pages. The authors have presented an engaging friendship story where the women have their pains and their struggles, but in the end they still have each other.

Honestly, the only thing that I didn't like was the title. To me, the title didn't really do the book justice.

It's a great, realistic story about four black women who want to live "the fabulous life," but do it by working hard and enjoying their time with their friends, as opposed to scheming or marrying rich. What a refreshing change! They all want the same things -- a successful career, good friends, unconditional love and support, and, to be happy in their own skin. Each character is struggling in a different way to find the right balance and perspective. They all have flaws, but wonderfully, they all know it, and they all try, in varying ways, to improve themselves and their lives.

Because the writing is so clever and interesting, all of this is clear without ever sounding trite, simplistic, or cheesy. The writing is clear and the plot never slows down. Even better, the plot isn't silly or outlandish. The writing is also VERY witty, and intelligent. (I know I said that already, but I really appreciate cleverness and wit.) It made me laugh out loud several times. I enjoyed all the characters and felt like I really got to know and understand them all. The characters are real and developed. I don't mean to sound so suprised, but even with books where I enjoy the plot, I am disappointed by the character development or the writing. FAB has it all. It's probably the best black "chick lit" that I have ever read.

If you are (or you know) an intelligent, fun, professional, independent black woman, read (or tell her to read) FAB.

I enjoy historical fiction, especially that of the Civil War era, and was not disappointed by Lynn Austin's tale of drama and romance during the 1860s. The characters Julia and Phoebe are human and likeable, and most importantly, believable. I could not put this novel down, and bought it soon afterwards in a complete set (with books one and three). It was well worth it and highly recommended.

I never had read historical fiction regarding the civil war before this book. This was such an interesting book, and so full of information. I loved the characters. It was really neat to see how some of the women of the time helped in the war. Men made many sacrifices during this war, but so did the women. You will not be disappointed in this book if you love the civil war era. I accidentally got this one first over the first book in the series (Candle in the Darkness), I liked this one much better.

This little book hits the spot for preteen & older readers. It's graphically colorful, with a variety of interesting photos & illustrations; it's written conversationally, yet with enough factual citations to validate the unbelievable, heroic stories; and, it introduces the reader to a cast of amazing female characters mainly unheard of in contemporary American culture.

Women Warriors is packed with fun, accessible introductions to a diverse group of fierce women. Rather than narrowly focusing on warriors of a particular culture or type, Apeles has included an impressive range of warrior women spanning numerous cultures and ages. By placing pop-culture icons, soldiers, political activists, and sports stars on neighboring pages, this inspiring text reminds readers that there are and always have been all sorts of ways to be bold.

(And I love that two of my personal heroes, Emma Goldman and Rosa Parks, share a page.)

I purchased this work seeking information on the mythical amazons but hoped to find actual historical material on female soldiers. The world is full of women who took up the sword from the Sarmations and Celts to the French Resistence.
And history is filled with incidents of individual women who broke from their assigned roles and became soldiers and pirates so with all this truth out there, why did this book put so much focus on: 1) female trennis stars, 2) Xena TV show, 3) Powerpuff Girls cartoon, 4) Buffy TV show and the like?
Are women on the battlefield so sparse and uninteresting that Ms Apeles must describe Charlies Angels and the origin of Supergirl to add excitement to her 'work'?

Save your money and buy a book that focuses on the reality, not cartoons.

Im 28 years old, and up until recently I had only vague knowledge of the G-spot, and I thoughjt female ejaculation was a myth. After all If it existed I would have been doing it for years...

But I have, and didnt realize it.That fluid after sex that wet my husbands boxers, and other things wasnt just alot of lubrication it was leaking ejaculation.

About a week ago my husband shared with me a video clip that he found via internet of a women squirting enough fluid to drench the wall.I was amazed, and a bit jealous I must admit. It looked like the most amazing orgasm, and I wanted to do it myself.

I bought this book after research on the web about the subject. The internet has alot of info , but not enough to "teach" how to do it with control.

Honestly I havent recieved the book yet, but I read enough info on amazons "look inside" option.I used that information to "practice", and after 30 minutes of using the tips inside the book, I did it TWICE.

It is an amazing experience, I cant stop smiling, I called my husband to tell him "guess what I just did?".I cant wait to show him in person.

Im still very interested in reading this book and learning even more.In fact Im more interested now that I know it is 100% possible.

Be prepared, there is alot of fluid.More than I was prepared for.

This is a very interesting book. I have know about female ejaculation for 15 years now. I just love to help women get to this point in their sexual life. With my new girlfriend, I am not able to bring her to this type of orgasm yet, so I thought that this book might help. As soon as I received it, and showed it to her, she took it from me and is reading it right now. She said that she should practise on her own in the beginning, according to the book. She is not done with the book, but everything I've told her what happens and how to make it happen, was confirmed in the book. When I have her close to the ejaculation point, she cannot quite relax yet to let it happen. By the time she finishes the book, she'll be ready! It is just nice to be able to read and learn this valuable, exciting, fun, wet and sexy thing to do with/for your partner! Get it or you won't GET IT!

When I first heard about female ejaculation I was a bit skeptical. Now I am a very satisfied believer. This book covers basic female anatomay and the different types of orgasms a woman experiences. She gives detailed instructions on how to stroke and achieve ejaculation. I wanted to surprise my husband and thought it would take some practice to be able to ejaculate. I was wrong. I followed her instructions and gushed in pure pleasure. I couldn't wait until he got home to show him. Needless to say it was a great night. He loves it when I squirt on him. It makes a great massage fluid.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to female ejaculate, or wanting to add a little spice to your love life.

One of the best information sources about in vitro fertilization. Very well written with sensitivity and compassion by an experienced doctor who has successfully helped many overcome infertility with IVF. Although IVF is not for me and my husband, after reading Expecting Miracles I am much more informed about those who travel down this journey to parenthood. An excellent recommendation for friends and/or family members of (as well as) those attempting IVF.

A keepsake for my son - of Dr. Zouves IVF/immune treatment

This book is an accurate and amazing portrayal of the intelligence, skill and compassion of Dr. Christo Zouves. I am one of his patients. I was told by other physicians that there was no known cause and no treatment for my continued pregnancy losses. Dr. Zouves discovered and treated the cause and the result is my son. I endured extensive treatment to moderate my immune response to pregnancy and complete successfully one cycle of in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer.
The ordeal of infertility diagnosis and treatment is discovered by the reader in a fascinating manner through the true stories of individual families. You will be surprised at what people will endure to have a child. This book is informative and compelling reading. When he is old enough, I plan to give it to my son to explain how much he was wanted and how hard we and Dr. Zouves worked to bring him into our family.

Expecting Miracles: On the Path of Hope from Infertility to Parenthood gives you a very realistic look at the lives of fertility patients. The book is helpful medically, but written with heart and compassion. I found myself laughing and crying -- it's definitely inspirational and provides hope to continue seeking the child of your dreams! END

Fascinating to read, great case studies

I really enjoyed this book and found it so inspirational. I loved the format---basically all stories (I called them case studies in the title, but that's really too dry a term---they are warm and complete stories) of people going through treatment for infertility, and the outcome of these treatments. I think almost every possible kind of case is covered! The book is very honest about how tough it can be to go through the treatment---I really had no idea how much was involved in assisted reproduction, and I gained new respect for what some families go through to have children. I did think once or twice that the book might have been more balanced if there were one or two more cases in it where the technologies were not successful, to make the book more like the statistics of how often such treatments really do work. But I know this was a book about successes, and I think it would be very inspirational to a lot of people, in addition to being well written and a great read.

Compassionate look at cutting-edge fertility treatment

"Expecting Miracles" is a warm, compassionate and uplifting description of the experiences of a dozen or so couples who sought help in conceiving a child from the author's infertility clinic. Each chapter tells one couple's story, as a sort of a mini-character study or "case study"; we learn about the patients' medical histories, their relationship with their significant others, their personalities, and the impact that their difficulty in conceiving & carrying to term has had on them & their families. Interspersed with the human stories are clear & succinct explanations of the science and medical technology used to help infertile couples conceive. Dr. Zouves' reverence for the spirituality and mystery inherent in the reproductive process was particularly refreshing.

As someone currently undergoing the initial stages of fertility treatment, I found the scientific information very helpful in understanding more about the delicate reproductive process (and how today's medicine can assist). I also found myself responding very emotionally to the plight of these couples. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to shed a tear at some of these beautiful, yet painful, stories! Nearly all of the stories have happy endings, though, and while that certainly does make for a less depressing book, it probably represents an unrealistic cross-section of infertility patients. Not everyone can be helped (sadly, I have several dear friends who fall into this category) and I imagine relatively few couples have the resources to pursue the kind of cutting-edge treatment Dr. Zouves describes - flying to the West Coast constantly, staying in hotels, paying for surrogates, not to mention the cost of the treatment itself (rarely covered by insurance). On the other hand, the book may well provide the necessary hope for those who are just barely hanging on in the midst of the physically and emotionally grueling treatment.
