It seems that no matter what he writes about, from the introduction about getting older to his nurse readjusting his toupee, he does it so very well with humor. (I did not even know that he wore a toupee!)

These are really short one to two page stories of incidents that had occurred during his lifetime. It may or may not have you laughing out loud. It will at the very least, bring a smile to your face.

Hilarious!!

I bought this book with the intention of reading one or two stories a day. I couldn't put it down. I was laughing out loud and my children begged me to read them what was so funny. I would read them some and they enjoyed it as much as I did. What started out as a month or so of giggles turned into an afternoon of belly-laughs.

A very funny book

This came out almost the day Burns passed away. This is a very funny anecdotal review of George Burns' entire life -- many of the stories go back to his childhood. (His one-liner when the tough Irish kids in his neighborhood demanded to know if he was Catholic is priceless! Good thing he was a fast runner....)

He was a very funny guy, and the book reads as though you could bring him back for a day and hang out while he just sits and tells stories. A lot of fun -- too bad it seems to be out of print.

This book was great. The stars in the book were very candid and insightful. I was encouraged by the way that everyone in the book made it seem so easy to get in shape and stay healthy. I would definently recommend this to anyone who is new to getting and staying in shape.

I didn't know a lot about Goldie Hawn when I bought this book. I love biographies and since I had always had a great impression of her, thought it would be interesting. The pretty cover also helped!
This is a wonderful book about a wonderful person! It was very interesting to learn about Goldie Hawn's childhood and career path. I was happy to know there is such a great person who struggled yet achieved so much, simply for trying to live a happy life.
Goldie Hawn is a great example and role model of a person who truly appreciates life for what it is!
This is an emotional, funny and inspirational book. Easy to read, I felt this is a true story written from the bottom of her heart. This book shows a humble, strong yet normal person just like a lot of non-famous people like a lot of us.
It is great to know there are extraordinary people in the world, such as Goldie Hawn!

This book flows seamlessly between Goldie's personably memorable life experiences and her reflections.

Until I read this book, I knew Goldie Hawn as a funny and wonderful and lovable actress. After reading it, I realized she was much, much more. She is a wise, extraordinary woman.

This book flows seamlessly between Goldie's memorable life experiences and her reflections upon these. She teaches by example a way to look at life with a perspective I found compelling because it includes gratitude and generosity not only to those around us but also to ourselves and those who came before us. Goldie shares her life challenges, doubts, and confusions as well as her joys. I felt the turmoil and triumphs of her relationships with friends, family, and the arts, especially dance, as her words carried me along with her on her captivating journey.

This is not a "self help" book, but I found out more about myself as I learned more about Goldie's experiences. Her willingness to share fear, vulnerability, pain, as well as spirituality, love, and joy are so forthright that it was easy to make a personal connection with Goldie through the good times and the bad.

One resounding message comes through that I can't be reminded about enough. Being a compassionate parent, appreciative child, a great friend or lover, offer us opportunities to give and receive unconditional love - a profoundly nurturing source of strength, comfort, and self-generosity.

It was as if the more I read Goldie tell her stories, the more aware I became of my own. I now enjoy friends, family, and indeed each new day with a brighter smile - and I'm not surprised because Goldie's smile has kilowatts to spare.

Good as Goldie!

Goldie's autobiography is a spiritual journey through her life - its touching and sincere accounts of life-changing events gives the reader a unique view into the life of a movie icon. What you realize is that Goldie is one of us - yes, an amazingly accomplished actress, but also a loyal friend, a loving mom, and a genuine, down-to-earth person.

Most noteworthy is the fact that Goldie did not find the need to disparage anyone from her past in order to accurately tell her story.

If possible, I'm more of a fan after reading her book.

I only bought the book actually because I found it at a bargain store and I enjoyed most of her movies. In fact when I came home with it, I was about to put it into my bookcase for a day when I had nothing to do (like that ever happens) LOL,but I had to wait for someone so I started to read. After returning home and going to bed instead of watching a little TV I picked up the book again. After reading the book, Goldie should add author to her already huge list of accomplishments. The book evokes all emotions, laughter, tears, anger, compassion and most of all love. She is a wonderful writer and you honestly feel this is a woman you would want as a friend. It is beautifully and honestly written. She states in the beginning that she was not going to give out intimate details of others that would cause them pain and embarrassment and she does not. If you are looking for a juicy who slept with who, what a louse Bill Hudson was etc...you will not find it in this book. While she is still (at least to me) one of the most powerful women in Hollywood, she is still thoughtful and humble. Her true hearts love is still her family. While she does not make her parents "Leave It To Beaver" kind of people, it is clear that they were loving, nurturing, loving parents who were there for their children with faults just like the rest of us. She presents herself in the same light. The book is an interesting and easy read no mumbo jumbo, she tells it as she sees it and does not force her views or opinions on anyone.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes her or her movies and if you are a fan of hers, (you probably already have the book) if not after reading this book you might become one.

This is undoubtedly one of the best books I have read and the best "biography" I've seen!

In a collection of "short stories," Goldie expresses to readers her joy for life and all that it has to offer! Through ups and downs in life, she tells those reading how to find the shiny side of any issue, though her own life journey!

DIVINE! A must read, especially for anyone down and out!

Mel & Goldie have fun here

The 1 star reviews make me wonder what people were expecting with this one, It is clear Mel & Goldie had a blast making this film, it really shows, In this Mel is Rick Jarman, a man who has been in the witness protection program for years for testifying against two crooked DEA agents (David Carradine & Bill Duke(Predator) years ago, Carradine is paroled & looking for payback & Rick's contact has retired leaving him to depend on another "Witness" agent who has sold him out to Carradine, Goldie's character is a former love interest of Rick who accidently spots him & gets caught up in his mayhem as he is shot at & chased by Carradine & Duke, what follows is good old fashion fun as Mel & Goldie reconnect under dire circumstances, there are many sight gags here, the motorcycle chase, plane sequence, the hotel rooftop scene, & lastly the zoo sequence that I don't think have been repeated since, overall a fun movie & very reminicent of director John Badham's follow-up movie " The Hard Way" a year later, although critics trashed it in 1990, it was a big hit, I remember the theatare being packed, wihch surprised me giving that this one had serious competition in 1990>>("Back to the Future III", "Pretty Woman", "Die Hard 2", "Gremlins 2", "Dick Tracy", "Another 48 Hours", "The Hunt for Red October", "Days of THunder" & "Ghost", & yet this one still made money, If you are a fan of Mel & Goldie" this is a must see!!

Of cr@p. This really is one of the worst written movies in history. I just gave it five stars cause Joan Severance is delightful and gorgeous and I got a thing for her ... and all she has to do is ask me for it. I can see this movie developing in a producer's bungalow on the studio lot.

Exec 1: "What if we took Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn and put them together in a action comedy?"
Exec 2: "I love it, Sammy, but our budget's just about used up for the year and those two will demand big bucks."
Exec 1: "No sweat, Josh, we'll save it on the script. Those two together are what people will want to see ... a script will just get in the way."
Exec 2: "Don't you ever get tired of being so brilliant."
Exec 1: "Sometimes."
Exec 2: "yeah, me too."
Exec 1: "Did you just insult me?"
Exec 2: "How could anyone insult someone as daft as you?"
Exec 1: "Huh? Daft means dumb."
EXec 2: "It does?"

Dir. John Badham. Stars: Mel Gibson, Goldie Hawn,
David Carradine, Bill Duke, Joan Severence and
Stephen Tobolowsky. The best 15 mintues of this
well made but highly unlikely film are 7.5 minutes
in the beginning when Duke picks up Carradine at
the prison he is being let out of in upstate New
York and the 7.5 minute final fight scene between
Carradine and Mel at the end. Duke and Tobolowsky
get killed way before the end and ditzy, spoiled
rich j.a.p. Hawn whines her way through this
movie to the point of distraction. Us guys who
like actioners could hardly wait for the Mel v.
Dave fight at the end, though because of Carra-
dine's age it isn't as good as Carradine v. Nor-
ris in the end of Lone Wolf McQuade! Still it's
sort of worth the wait. Good movie despite flaws.

Bird On A Wire DVD

Bird On A Wire is about a guy (Mel Gibson) who is in the Witness Relocation Program (WRP)going by the name Billy Ray Bowers, named for both the scoundrels that could have been his Daddy, per his Momma. One day his ex-fiancé ( Goldie Hawn) drives up to the gas station where he is working and tells him to fill `er up, unleaded.

Goldie Hawn at 45 still had great legs and takes every opportunity throughout the movie to show them off..

The movie is filled with action and for the ladies even has a shot of Mel Gibson's back-side.

Recommended for fans of Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn ( of Laugh-In fame).

I've always thought of Goldie as the cute, ditzy go-go- dancer of "Laugh-in" days and wondered about her background, her romances, her children and especially why she never married Kurt Russell. This book answered my questions...There is certainly more "meat" to her than on her bones...
