Erin Gray Books

All I can say is "Wow!" I had no idea actors had this much stuff to think about in addition to acting! An awful lot of what Ms. Gray and Ms. Purl had to say never would have occurred to me. Of course, I am not an actor and am not aspiring to be an actor, but I do find that I am fascinated by all that actors have to do and put up with. The call sheet alone... holy cow! I can see a good 16 hour course on that piece of paper alone! Like I said, I'm no actor, but I can see "Act Right" should be mandatory reading for anyone who wants to act. Anyone who does will only save themselves a lot of embarrassment and keep from looking too much like a newbie on the set. I guess what I'm taking too long to try to say is: "GREAT BOOK!"

Whether you are just starting in the business or have been around, this book is a must read! It contains everything you would ever want to know about acting but were afraid to ask. Mara and Erin have captured a way of sharing their knowledge and experience in this book that will become every actor's must-have manual! A must read!!!

"Act Right" is a wonderful guide for anyone wanting to break into the industry and I applaud you for giving today's generation and those to come a source of aid and inspiration while following their dreams. Bravo!

As a professional Director of Photography for "Friends," "Mad About You," and at least thirty other Sit-Coms (but whose counting?), I've seen it ALL from behind the camera. I can tell immediately who knows their way around a set - and who doesn't. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to work with an actor who may know his or her lines - but doesn't know how to hit their mark! You don't want to make your mistakes here - on a professional set. If I can tell you don't know what you're doing, so can the producers - the ones who hire you. Do your homework! The only way a new actor starting out can get an advantage, is to read "Act Right" by Erin Gray and Mara Purl. If you're serious about working in this business - as a beginner, or as a returning pro - this book is a MUST READ. Got it? Get it!!

the fall guy, was one of the last cool tv shows, before reality tv, became the norm. great pacing, writing etc.. oh did i mention lee majors was the star of the show. one of the all time great tv actors

I have never had a problem downloading or playing any of these episodes from Unbox. They've always downloaded fairly quickly and they've never locked up my computer once. My only complaint is they need to add seasons seven and eight! This is a great service and since Anchor Bay is not releasing seasons six through eight on DVD, Amazon is the only place we can get them. Come on Amazon, GIVE US MORE SILK!!

The first time I had no problems downloading. It worked great. I tried again and it froze my computer!!! Do yourself a favor and don't even try!!

Why would I pay for a download when Amazon sells the DVD's at up to 1/2 the cost???

The only files that play on my system from the downloads are the Season 6 files of Silk Stalkings. Maybe they are encoded differently or whatever, but the Season 5 episodes and a Season 2 episode I downloaded/bought would not play and, in fact, froze up my computer - every time I tried playing them. A waste of money.

And yes, I have enough memory and an appropriate operating system [Windows XP, Service Pack 2]. I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Amazon Unbox player to no avail.

So, if you're considering the Unbox option, don't. Shell out a few more bucks and buy the DVDs. Except, of course, if there is no other option besides downloading, since Anchor Bay refuses to finish up the Silk Stalkings series properly and release Seasons 6 to 8 on DVD. [Or for any such series with the same sad issue.] On the upside, as I said, at least Season 6's files work. Let's just hope, for the sake of the fans who have this as their only option, these files will continue to work and not freeze up their computers and cannot play the files.

One final note: I get why these files are encoded, to prevent piracy. But surely if a customer buys this file, they should have an option to burn the episodes to DVD to play in a standard DVD player for private use?

Again, use Unbox only if no other means are available. If that is not the case, buy the DVDs and save money on files you may or may not be able to view.
