I love this show and have been a fan for years. When a character leaves that has been on for a really long time it feels like we lost a member of our family. I do want to thank NBC for Actor Jesse L. Martin - Detective Ed Green for not killing him off or finding him guilty. That would ruin this show for me. Why I'm thankful because he can comeback if he wanted to (I hope). It did seem that since the death of (my favorite) Actor Jerry Orbach - Detective Lennie Briscoe he really hasn't found a someone to compliment him even though he did work with a few partners one can see he could use a break. It cant be easy. When NBC finally found someone (new character) Jeremy Sisto - Detective Cyrus Lupo to partner with I thought it was a perfect fit they complimented each other. One quiet, the other not and so on. But he seemed to be hired to late for I think Jesse (burned out) needs the break. I hope he has a very good retirement from the show (hopefully it's just a break) for we will miss him, greatly!

They got it right this season! Linus Roache and Jeremy Sisto are great additions to the cast and Sam Waterston as the new DA is fantastic. This was my favorite show back in the Jerry Orbach days and it has become my favorite show again. It's back to being entertaining with twists and turns and wondering what the EADA is capable of. The writing is back along with great acting. Maybe being a bubble show was enough to wake up the powers that be. Whatever the reason, Season 18 shows why "Law & Order" will break the record set by "Gunsmoke".

I was thrilled to see that Law & Order on Unbox. I'd say Law & Order was great for maybe fourteen of its eighteen seasons, which is an amazing record when you think about it. The last few years there has been a mad shuffle of cops and AADAs (assistants to the assistant district attorney - there's a mouthful) that have made the show less enjoyable.

I'd say I've seen probably 95% of all episodes on TNT re-runs, but I found a few here that I'd missed. I love the fact that you can buy individual episodes, since it would be a huge waste of money for me to buy the full dvd when I've seen most of the material already.

After picking a few from seasons 1 & 2, I looked forward with great anticipation to combing though seasons 3, 4, and 5. Perhaps you can imagine my disappointment when I saw that Amazon only provides five of eighteen seasons, and only two of the early ones. This saddens me especially since I consider the last few seasons of the show to be almost unwatchable. I hope that I will see more seasons available for Unbox soon.

For those of you who haven't seen seasons 1 & 2, I'd urge you to take a look. The show started out with a grittier edge, and focused more on the fine points of New York law. They also have fewer "ripped from the headlines" episodes, and of the ones that are, you're much less likely to remember the original events, which makes them more fun.

Thank you so very much to Amazon for bringing this fabulous show to us. I have neer seen a show with the longevity that surpasses and great behind the seens production that has made the show what it is today. Any show that can say it's been around for 18 years is nothing short of amazing. All the cast, past and present, deserve all the accolades possible. I hope L&O does surpass "Gunsmoke" and make it for 20 years. If anyone has never seen the show, I recommend buying one episode to try it out. It's a good $2.00 investment. Thank you Amazon, NBC, and all the incredible talent that makes the original the best.

These are two of the best.I love these movies.They are both movies that make you feel good.I will watch them again and again.Nothing is better than watching a great romantic movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed both movies, I had seen Fools Rush in many years ago, but had never seen Maid in America. I would highly recommend this combo to anyone, both movies are very good in my opinion.

MAID IN MANHATTAN ***

This is a relatively pleasant, though eminently forgettable, once-upon- a-time romantic comedy. Not even its excellent supporting cast can make this tepid movie better than it should be. Ralph Fiennes, with his sometimes British, sometimes American accent, and Jennifer Lopez, with her beauty marred the minute she opens her mouth, are the would be mis-matched lovers.

Fiennes plays Chris Marshall, a wealthy, to the manor born, silver spoon, political candidate. Lopez plays Marissa Ventura, a working class woman and single parent with an adorable, precocious, ten year old son named Ty (Tyler Garcia Posey). Marissa works as a maid in the posh hotel in which Marshall is a guest. When her son accompanies her to work one day, he runs into Chris Marshall and recognizes him. They start up a conversation and before you know it they are going to go off for a walk together, only Ty has to ask his mom. They go to the suite in which she is cleaning, only thing is that she has tried one of the haute couture outfits belonging to a wealthy businesswoman named Caroline who is staying in the suite.

Naturally, Marissa looks gorgeous in this outfit and is wearing it when Ty and Chris enter the suite. Chris is smitten, and all three go for a walk in the park. Chris does not know, and Marissa does not disclose, that she is one of the maids in the hotel. Don't ask. Don't tell.

When Chris, thinking that his dream woman's name is Caroline, forwards an invitation for lunch to her ostensible suite, the real Caroline (Natasha Richardson) responds. Let the games begin! Marissa spends quite a bit if time avoiding running into Chris in her work clothes. When she finally runs into him in the street, Chris instructs his aide to find her and invite her to a glittering soiree. She gets the invitation via the hotel butler (Bob Hoskins), along with some advice, and decides to go for the gold. With her fellow employees at the hotel acting as collective fairy godmothers, she gets the proverbial ball gown, diamonds, makeover, and emerges a princess, making a dramatic entrance at the ball, further entrancing Chris. When she runs off before the ball is over, he pursues her, and what then follows is a night to remember.

Of course, Natasha, who is also at the ball, sees Marissa and Chris together and realizes that she looks familiar. Consumed by the green eyed monster, she contacts the hotel authorities when the morning after the ball she sees Marissa, exiting the suite occupied by Chris and still wearing the diamond necklace she wore at the ball. A review of security tapes leads to her identification of Marissa and a host of other things. Chris is now faced with a choice, as is Marissa.

The film is pretty formulaic in that it is filmed as a fairy tale. Of course it has the proverbial happy ending. The film is saved by the very funny performance of Natasha Richardson and her pre-menopausal, obnoxious friend played with relish and delicious abandon by Amy Sedaris. Stanley Tucci is excellent as Jerry, Chris Marshall's campaign manager. Bob Hoskins is very good as the prim and proper hotel butler, though the film strikes a false note towards the end when he gives Marissa a final speech that is ridiculous. Tyler Garcia Posey is a totally adorable child actor who gives a very natural and engaging performance.

Ralph Fiennes gives a decent performance but has difficulty maintaining an American accent. Jennifer Lopez gives a better performance than she usually does but that is not saying a lot. It is unfortunate that to date she has been unable to replicate the level of performance that she gave in "Selena", the film that propelled her into stardom. She is, however, totally drop dead gorgeous when she is all gussied up, looking every inch the princess.

Still, if one's expectations are not too high, one should find this to be a mildly entertaining, romantic comedy. Rent it rather than buy it.


FOOLS RUSH IN ****

This is a delightful romantic comedy. Matthew Perry is a charming, self-effacing leading man. Salma Hayek is a most fetching and winsome leading lady. Strong performances by the supporting cast help make this a most enjoyable movie.

Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) lives in New York and has a high powered job as a field agent for a builder that specializes in the construction of night clubs. He is sent to Las Vegas to supervise new construction. While there, he meets a fiery, latin beaty, Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek), with whom he has a very memorable one night stand. This is totally out of character for both of them. In fact, she is so embarrassed by what happened, that she sneaks out of his house first thing in the morning. Before he even knows it, she is gone, never to be heard from again, until she shows up on his door step three months later to announce that she is pregnant with his baby.

Alex tells her that he supports her right to choose. Isabel chooses to have the baby. She asks nothing from him other than he meet her family, so that it is not such a shock when she announces that she is pregnant. He agrees to do so. He meets her traditional, Mexican-American family and is taken by their warmth, a quality that is sorely lacking in his family. He rarely sees his own family, except for the obligatory holidays, while Isabel meets hers once a week for dinner.

Alex and Isabel fall in love and have a quickie marriage ceremony performed in Las Vegas. Naturally, as they are now husband and wife. they move in together. Then reality sets in. They contend with cultural difference, with pain in the you know what in-laws, and with the every day adjustments necessary, when living with someone one does not, as yet, know. Then, the trust that had developed is violated, and they each go their own separate ways.

What happens with the baby? Does the marriage survive? Watch the movie and find out. The experience will be an enjoyable one.

These are two of the best.I love these movies.They are both movies that make you feel good.I will watch them again and again.Nothing is better than watching a great romantic movie.

I've participated in several Companions in Christ classes, and I can't recommend them highly enough. What I liked best about the class that this workbook is for was that it gave me the chance to explore spiritual exercises I would not normally have thought "were for me." This included several methods of reading scripture, several methods of relating scripture to my own life, and several methods of prayer. I decided at the beginning of the class that as an act of faith I would do anything asked of me in a daily exercise, whether it seemed to be "me" or not; that I would treat each as a learning experience and that I would get more out of it by putting more into it. I am glad I did this, for the class was a very rich experience, and four years after I first took the class, I am still enriched by things I tried for the first time as an exercise from this book.

I am sure it would be possible to have a not-great Companions class, but all three of the ones I've taken at my Episcopal church have been personally fulfilling and also have brought about much deeper relationships among the people who have participated.

If you are looking for a way to bridge the gap between church and world, this is the course to use. Approaching the Christian tradition as spirituality, Companions in Christ uses daily Bible reflection and simple, but profound journal questions and a weekly small group meeting to build community.

A perfect selection from Shakespeare's greatest plays with gorgeous artwork. An ideal introduction to Shakespeare for young people. With a smart and easy to read preamble describing Shakespeare's life and work and wonderful introductions to each poem, the book does a fantastic job of explaining how Shakespeare's work is both drama and poetry.

I cannot think of a better way to introduce the poetry of Shakespeare than this small volume. The selection is excellent and of interest you the young reader. The commentary is quite relevant as are the pictures which accompany it. I find that often now, our young people go all the way through the early grades in school and many of them have never heard of Shakespeare,much less read their poetry. This was the sort of stuff my generation and the generation before it grew up on and cut our teeth on. I do not feel I am any worse for the wear. I am fearful that we are bringing up an entire generation (rightfully or wrong, although I feel it is the later) of young folks who will have no appreciation to this great art form and will miss a lot. This book helps. This entire series helps, as a matter of fact and I certainly recommend you add this one and the others to your library. Actually, it is rather fun reading these with the young folk and then talking about them. Not only do you get to enjoy the work your self and perhaps bring back some great memories, but you have the opportunity to interact with your child or student. It is actually rather surprising what some of the kids come up with. I read these to my grandchildren and to the kids in my classes at school. For the most part, when I really get to discussing the work with them, they enjoy it. Recommend this one highly.

Joy! Shakespeare--undiluted--for everybody, either kids or adults! The layout of this book couldn't be more helpful. After a brief introduction, the compiler gets down to business. Each speech or poem is preceeded by a brief explaination, and after the selection, a small word-list to aid understanding. All are swathed in beautiful, dramatic paintings that are truly helpful for comprehension. All the famous lines are here, from Henry V's Agincourt "St. Crispin" speech, his inly-ruminating soliloquey about the nature of power, scenes from Macbeth, Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, and a couple of sonnets, and much more.

There are two things that are very impressive about this book. First, the compiler manages to introduce very adult themes about power,loyalty, etc., as well as the vocabulary of 400 years ago,even a brief explaination of iambic pentameter in a tone so chatty that you hardly realize you are learning. Second, the rich pictures impart a thirst for MORE Shakespeare. You'll hear, "Can we hear more? What's the rest of this story?" often!

Any publication that presents the Bard as accessable and enjoyable deserves a place in every school or public library, and certainly every home. Add this to Charles and Mary Lamb's "Tales of Shakespeare" as a new classic.

This book is beautifully designed and well organized. Full color photography enhances each page. It includes basic information on gardening with native plants, planning a garden, attracting birds, butterflies, and other wildlife to your yard. Photographs and desriptions of plants and trees, organized by geographic location, are accompanied by maps, field notes, tips, and drawings of animals prefered by each. Lots of references are included in the back. It may be geared more towards the layperson than the expert, but this book really opened my eyes to the possibilities of gardening. Gardening is not just picking pretty flowers anymore! Natural Gardening a joy to browse through and to read.

I don't have children, but I found this in a children's asile in my local bookstore and I had to buy it! This is the book I have on my backyard picnic table right now and I read thru it daily and love it! It's NUMBER 1 on my list of books to read right now with summer here. The photos are wonderful; the small editorials are written so that anyone can understand them, and as an adult I don't see the "child -like" reading here, but rather a book that everyone can enjoy and learn from and all of Time Life Books are finely manufactured. For a book I'd rate them as "Excellent Quality" and suggest this along with the other's from this series would make a wonderful gift for children and adults alike. You'll learn alot about gardening, how to attract butterflies or hummingbirds to your backyard; wild flowering, A-Z, way too much to mention.

Outstanding ideas for anyone who wants to be a great supervisor. It takes alot more than just telling people what to do and this book will help you with that!! I recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about becoming a supervisor anyone who doesnt want to be like the last supervisor you had!!!

"Peggy Sue Got Married" is a classic. It is a great, funny and cute film. Who would have thought that Coppola could produce something as good as this and do it successfully. Peggy Sue is going to her high school reunion. She hits her head and revisits her high school days. Peggy Sue has a choice, travel the once traveled path (get pregnant young and end in a broken marriage) or take the alternate route. Will she follow her heart or her head? Will she rediscover love? This is a great film. Kathleen Turner is great in it as the too- mature- for- her- age- because- she- has- already- lived- it-teenager and Nicholas Cage is great at playing the brainless, funny and just about confused teenager and adult. This is one of the only Nicholas Cage movies I like. The film is succeeds because it has great character development and a very well carried out storyline. It is a movie that is good to this day.

I love this movie...I love it because it lets me go back to 'visit' my Grandmother, who I miss every day of my life. But when I am watching this movie, I am somehow with her again, even if only for a few moments. It also lets me be a 'kid' again...remembering a time long gone by, but never quite forgotten. For me, this is a movie sprinkled with tears but rich with wonderful memories of yesterday. Let's face it, we all would love to go back to a previous time and place, even if just for a moment. This movie is the next best thing.

Ok, let me start off by saying that I definately feel that Peggy Sue Got Married is your classic "chick flick". It has all the elements that women love, and men can't understand.

Peggy Sue is divorced from her high school sweetheart Charlie, and is very unhappy, but finds herself going with her daughter to her high school reunion anyways. She faints and when she wakes up she is back in high school in 1960!

She keeps trying to break up with Charlie, since she knows how their future ends up; but Charlie refuses (how romantic).

All in all she remembers why it was that she loved Charlie, and realizes that no matter what they are destined to be together. When she returns to the present Charlie is there and apologizes for everything they have been through and wants to try to work things out.

This is one of the best endings to a movie. Her going back in time didn't change anything, but made her realize that she and Charlie belong together. It doesn't erase everything they have gone through, but when she wakes up she is ready to try again, as is Charlie. It didn't magically erase their life and trials and create some fake happy-go-lucky, corny ending... but gave a (somewhat..) realistic ending.

An excellent, excellent movie!!

This is one of the very best things I have ever seen Kathleen Turner and Nicholas Cage in. Peggy Sue Got Married is a romantic time traveling twist on that point in all of our lives when we have one of those "if only I knew then what I know now" moments. In Peggy Sue's case, that second chance happens at her high school reunion. Can she change things? Is her fate out of her hands? Watch this charming, funny and poignant little movie to find out. And the mucic is really good, too.

Peggy Sue (Kathleen Turner) is facing the prospect of her 25th high school reunion. Making it even worse, she and her husband, high school sweetheart Charlie Bodell (Nicolas Cage) are in the middle of a divorce because Peggy Sue has finally gotten tired of his affairs. And so she shows up with her daughter Beth (Helen Hunt).

Things are actually going well until Charlie shows up. Then Peggy Sue wins homecoming queen. It's all too much for her, and she faints.

When she comes too, Peggy Sue finds herself back in 1960. She's eighteen again and reliving the last few months of high school. Between panic attacks about what this could mean, she tries to grasp her second chance at her life. Can she avoid the last 25 years of pain? Does she really want to?

The movie walks a fine line between comedy and drama and never quite seems to strike the right balance. There are some very funny bits, but those just make the drama seem more over the top and over wrought. And the comedy is stuff we've seen done elsewhere better many other times.

The cast features a number of early performances from actors better known today. Besides the ones already mentioned, we see Jim Carrey and Joan Allen, for example. Most of the cast is fine. My biggest problem was with Nicolas Cage. For some reason, he gives Charlie a weird nasally voice. Frankly, it makes me wonder what Peggy Sue ever saw in him. On the plus side, he gets to show off his excellent singing voice.

Finally, there's the story. It works. But it is left too open ended. That's probably caused by an ending that is way too abrupt to deal with everything brought up. It asks all kinds of questions, but the answers are thrown at us so fast it doesn't really explain how the characters arrived at them. As a result, the ending goes from being open ended to unsatisfactory.

The movie isn't bad, but it's really not good either. It's certainly fun watching if you are a fan of the current work of this young cast. But if you haven't seen it, you haven't really missed much, either.

This book is incredibly well written. It was totally absorbing, entertaining and informative. By the time I finished it, I felt like I had earned a degree in classical music appreciation and another in music theory.

My husband had never been exposed to classical music and when we got married, he wanted to be able to carry on a conversation with the rest of my family. He has loved this book and it has really taught him a lot about classical music.

If you love--or would like to at least understand--classical music, then this is the book to read. It is fun, quick and not so technical or snooty as many books on this subject. In fact, it's not snooty at all. I learned a bunch I had no idea of, reaffirmed things I did know, and corrected several misconceptions. Read this if you are going to be around "high-brow" snooty types and then just smile quietly as they rattle on and on. Little will they know that you "understand the language."

You have to be careful with the Dummies series. Some authors use humor with discretion, others, as in this case, lard on so much humor that it gets in the way of learning and turns what should be a pleasure into an ordeal of extracting the useful information from the attempt at clever wise-cracks, puns and general satire.

Yes, there is information here if you are willing to work to get it, but a good 50% of the text is gratuitous laughs. There are other books, such as "The Classical Music Experience" by Jacobson, that treat the reader as someone intelligent who seeks to know rather than to be entertained.

This is a very good entry level book, about classical music.
It's fun to read and it's written in an easy to understand level.
I recomend this book for all the people who likes classical music and wants to learn more before moving to more serious books.
