Bought this book as a gift for a friend who is a history teacher. She gave me a 3 hour personal tour through the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC and commented that she had not read this book.

A Must Read

This is a must read - for everyone! A real, raw and riviting account of Ellie Wiesel's personal experience during the Holocaust. Starting when no one believed the pending danger of war... to the formation of ghettos and finally life in a concentration camp. His Nobel Peace Price Acceptance Speech at the end of the book is an important bonus! We must NEVER FORGET... Ellie's account will help.

Kipper's Monster - a page turner for my 2 1/2 year old

My son loved this book. In fact, we picked it up at the library and I have to admit I was concerned about the "monster" thing. In fact, he loved it so much, I'm buying it for it. We gave our son a flashlight and later that evening we used the flashlight and got under the covers like Kipper and Tiger and he absolutely loved reading the book under the covers with the flashlight! I also used the flashlight to show him how to make shadow puppets, similiar to the snail shadow in the book. He thought all of it was way cool! We read it quite often. My son did not find it "scary" as the previous reviewer, but again, each child is different.

Not my favourite Kipper book.

We borrowed this one from the library. In this book, Tiger has a new torch (flashlight, for the non-Brits). He wants to try it out so Kipper and Tiger go for a camp-out in the woods. They are attempting to read a "scary" story, but then they hear a loud "SCREECH" in the woods. The noise is not explained in the book, although the pair guess that it must have been an owl that made the noise. Next a shadow appears on the tent wall. It turns out to be a snail - not scary at all! Finally, the two friends return home and read the book inside the house. Even though this book has a "safe" ending, the screech noise, "scary" book, and shadow on the tent wall did not make this a book that my 3 year old wanted to read again and again. Instead, after one or two readings, it sat on the table, unopened, until it was returned to the library. This is not one that I, personally, would buy.

I read the book but couldn't find on [...] to review. Never would have chosen this, but glad was passed along by a friend. The stories are poignant, sad, funny and deceptively thought provoking. Don't get scared, not in a you need to join Kabala kind of way, but does make you think about how you act, how your actions affect and to think nothing other than, this is a good story.

Take the time, it's worth it.

An excellent honest anthology written by strong, sucessful women showing that that is not a barrier to acieving whatever you desire. These pieces are poignant, truthful and humorous. I recommend this book to anyone interested in size issues.

Today, tomorrow, yesterday? We found this book a bit confusing for a 3 year old. Kipper is a favourite of ours, but this one was just "ok".

Another Cute Kipper Book

Like the other Kipper books this one is easy to read and the illustrations are great. It's a bit "busier" than some of the authors earlier works and lacks the simplicity of the earliest stories. I've also found a companion sticker style activity book which is nice but the stickers are not movable from page to page.

Kipper gets mixed up!

I got this book for my son in preparation for his second birthday and he loves it! I't teaches children (and parents) about the importance of being organized, but it also teaches the importance of friends. I love the illustrations and most of the language. My one criticism of the book is that one part is particularly confusing for kids (when Kipper himself is confused about his birthday, so I guess that's appropriate).
