I would definately reccomend this book to anyone who is losing motivation for bodybuilding; for that matter anyone who is losing motivation for anything. Even though the book is centered toward bodybuilding it shows how the HULK, Lou Ferrigno, had to go through so many things in his life to become what he is now. He has a severe hearing problem which all of the kids at his school made fun of him for, his father was trying to control his life and was constantly being negative toward Lou, along with almost killing him (talked about in his second book Lou Ferrigno's Guide To Personal Power, Bodybuilding, And Fitness). There were so many negative influences that I won't name them all, but it's amazing how he was able to rise up above all that and become in my and many others opinion to be the best bodybuilder ever! When ever you think you have it hard re-read this book and realize that if Lou Ferrigno could become one of the best bodybilders and be a movie star with all the problems he had to go through, you too can achieve anything. He also has a great bodybuilding section in his book making it even more complete on how to build an impressive physique in the minimum amount of time.

"My Incredible Life As the Hulk" chronicles Lou Ferrigno's quick rise from bullied kid to TV star. A huge fan of the HULK TV series as a kid, I'm surprised that more has not been written about the enormously popular show. Ferrigno's book holds a special place, then, if only as one of the few chronicles of the series' production thus far. The quality of the writing is rather simple and pedestrian, but let's be honest, here -- this is a book by and about THE HULK, not Shakespeare, and what treasures the book holds lie in the stories and personal accounts of the series' behind the scenes. Ferrigno presents his stories with a self-effacing sense of humor and charm, and he is quite bravely frank and forthcoming in some of the hardships he faced, ranging from heavy drinking, stress, romantic troubles, and some real-life "HULK-OUT" temper tantrums on the set. His friendship with the late Bill Bixby is especially poignant.
All in all, this is a simple, easy to read, geniunely involving and informative book that is an ABSOLUTE MUST for "Incredible Hulk" and Lou Ferrigno fans. The book is an oversized paperback, filled with many black and white photos, and special introductions from Ang Lee and Stan Lee.

Ferrigno was a tremendous athlete--heck, the guy is still in shape--and his training advice is solid, if not revolutionary. But poor Lou spends too much time complaining about life and what might have been. He pens ridiculous statements such as, "I could have won the Olympia if I hadn't retired." That's kind of like me saying I could have been the world's greatest concert pianist, had I ever taken up the piano.
Lou ultimately never had what it took to make it to the top, competitively. He never reached the summit at his peak in the 1970s, or when he returned to the sport in the Masters division. Instead of accepting his limitations and turning them into something motivational, he tends to blame others for his failures. Thus, instead of being an inspiring book, his "Guide..." winds up being irritating.
It didn't help that when I met him for the first time--a lifelong dream--he stuck his hand in front of my camera and said, "No pictures," then wanted to charge me $20 for a picture of him taken with my own camera! He's been referred to as "the Incredible Jerk," and my own experiences with the man certainly validate that title.
Awesome!

What a great athlete and what a great book! It's packed with information on Big Lou, who gives excellent training advice. I know it will inspire you to train harder and overcome adversity. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever dreamed of change.

I have been a fan of Lou Ferrigno and bodybuilding from a young age. I have found many bodybuilding books to be disappointing for the price I pay (as I have to order them). For a very reasonable price I was surprised at the wealth of information in his book. I was very interested to read about his life and how he became a bodybuilder, more importantly how he overcame obstacles. It also had a lot of great photos. I thoroughly recommend this book to any bodybuilding or Lou Ferrigno fan.

Lou isn't worth the cost of the book. He treats his fans badly as well as the one who designed his website. If you want to learn how to work out.....go to a gym! He is a hippicrit. His book says one thing and he does another. The term "don't believe everything you read" can describe this book accurately.
Interesting, if you are a fan

I met "The Hulk" too, several years ago. That was a dream come true. Unfortunately, I met Lou during a tough competition -- his return to the Olympia for the Masters category. And I think this book is consistent with how he deals with loss and/or difficult challenges: he spends a lot of time complaining about life, IMO. Although some people would find it inspirational, I could not relate to the book at all. This book is interesting if you are a Lou Ferrigno fan.
