Yes, yes, I have been a fan of this show since I was 13, so it's a really guilty pleasure revisiting all the storylines that so enthralled me. This book has great pictures, and covers the entire history of the show from 1956-1996. That's a lot of twins, kidnappings, murders, and family drama. What comes through best about this book is its sense of history. I truly will always have a place in my heart for this show, and the Hughes family.

PS... even more fun is seeing the old pictures of Julianne Moore and Meg Ryan, both major characters in the 80's...

Whether you are a long-time fan of As The World Turns, or a new fan of this CBS daytime drama, you will want to add this book to your library. Lifelong fans of the show will enjoy re-living the rich history of As The World Turns, and new fans will enjoy learning the history of the plot twists and turns of this popular daytime drama.

The book is chock-full of pictures of cast members, and includes special sections on As The World Turns weddings, personal anecdotes from the actors, and features pieces on former ATWT actors who have achieved superstardom. A wonderful feature of the book is a complete cast list.

If you watch As The World Turns, you must add this book to your personal library.

What a book! All the poster/lobby card compilations by Hershenson and Allen are great, particularly Volume 10, Serial Movie Posters, which I suspect is their best seller to date, soon to be topped by this one.

We can argue about the "B Movie" in the title, since many of the posters and lobby cards shown are for exploitation, road show, and drive-in films, and there are some A features to be found in these pages as well. But that's a quibble.

What images! These were intended to get the farmers off their wagons and into the theatre, and they do serve that purpose. Have a gander at the incredible poster for I LOVE TROUBLE (39), a masterpiece in several senses of the word and from many points of view. The poster for TOMCATS (237) exhibits a very poor understanding of human anatomy but it would cause any healthy male of any age to fumble unconsciously in the general direction of the fly of his trousers. A number of posters and lobby cards feature the immortal Mamie Van Doren, protruding further than seems humanly possible (100, for instance) and Jayne Mansfield (for example 112) is no slouch along those lines herself.

I'd love to have seen a poster for BOP GIRL GOES CALYPSO starring Judy Tyler, but one can't have everything! Highest possible recommendation, and keep those hands away from that fly.

This volume from the series of books from Bruce is fantastic. The beatifull artistic designs of the posters contained in this volume are true classic examples of the fond memories I have from my youth when drive-ins were at the peak of popularity. Although the films were Ed Wood grade z type shlock fare the posters promoting them were class a in artistic design. The general rule of thumbs used by us frequenting the weekly drive-ins was the more outragius off the wall display on those posters(usualy a scanty cladd female and verball quotation to entice the movie going individuals) the most likely the film is a real turkey. Many of us loved making the weekly treck to the driv-ins just to see if the latest presentation could topple the king Plan 9 From Outer Space in realy bad filmmaking. The color posters contained in this volume all are examples of classic poster designing that sadly is lacking in "bland" fare that has been created for film posters from the late 80's to the present day.I highly recomend this gem of a book to any lover of film posters, the price for it is "dirt cheap pocket change" considering the outstanding content it has.A truely unique one of a kind book that I long have searched for and untill now, was never available.

I first picked up a copy of B Monkey almost a year ago and was wonderfied with this book. The story of Alan Furnace and his beloved 'B. Monkey' (READ MY NAME) is anything but your average paperback love story. Both the story and the language of the book pull no punches. B Monkey is raw and unforgiving with it's truthfulness and candor, yet it reads and feels like the love story it is. If you're sick and tired of the average sap-fest you find in most love stories, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK! You won't be disappointed!

Movie critic Willie Waffle has produced a delightful guide for people who want to get past the "new releases" shelf at the video store and find something that may have missed the multiplex. Waffle's astonishing range and engaging descriptions make this book an indispensible reference and as much fun as the movies he writes about.

"Scream and Run Away"

Review Date: 2006-06-21
This is a review mainly of the unabridged recording of "The Bad Beginning" read by Tim Curry, with an interview of Lemony Snicket by Leonard C. Marcus. And the song "Scream and Run Away preformed by the Gothic Archies. This is also a review of the hardback book .

Initial listening of this book brought horror and disgust (which in this case means repugnance.) Determined to finish the story despite the author's constant warnings, I must say that I became enamored of his style.

There are several pluses to listening to the recording. The pace of the recording helps keep you going when you would have set the book aside. The absence of the books illustrations by Bret Helquist allowed you to imagine a more sinister Count Olaf and a cuter, yet with a tad of tomboy, Violet. Now the significant plus is the unmistakable voice of Tim Curry of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Oscar" (1991 as Dr. Poole) fame. His interpretation of the voices gave just as much panache to the characters as Lemony's writing.

Not in the book, but as additions to the recording are two significant items that help with the understanding of the story, where it came from and where it is going. First is an interview with the author. It covers many of the standard questions asked in an interview; the answers and the communication style is some what unique and a little over the top. Also there is a recording of a song that Mr. Snicket says is played by the Baudelaire memorial orchestra; I have since found that it was realy preformed by the Gothic Archies, written by Gay and Loud.

I do not want to give away the plot however I can tell you that at one point they are forced to eat "boiled chicken, boiled, potatoes and `blanched'- here means `boiled'- string beans"

Actually, a great beginning!

I downloaded this book from Audible. My sons and I listened to it in the car and finished the whole thing in one day. When we went on errands, they even asked if they could stay in the car and listen while I did what I had to do.

We loved it!! It was silly, educational, and entertaining all at once, with suspense thrown in. The boys' favorite character is Sunny, while I rather like Violet.

Especially engaging was the multicast recording. We have since missed this in the subsequent Lemony Snicket audiobooks.

I want to warn those who have seen the SOUE film: Expect something different in the books. The film combined three books, and not very well. The books have much more substance.

Malcolm Stephen King Style

Review Date: 2003-10-23
This is the greatest Malcolm in the Middle episode I have either read or seen on television. This short novel is just like watching an episode on television, and with your imagination seeing all the characters, you forget it is actually a book.

This hilarious story by Pollack (Pollack authored books in this series are funnier than the other authors) is about a taxidermed monkey Malcolm and Reese buy at a tag sale for 69c. It is named Banana Joe, an old man tells them its story of bad luck and death it brings to those who own it before he lets them purchase it. They tell Dewey the story to punish him for squealing on them and then weird stuff starts to happen. Reese and Malcolm quickly discover Banana Joe's stories are not fiction. The monkey is evil and Malcolm knows he will kill them all soon. With the help of Stevie they set out to rid themselves of the evil one before it is too late. Meanwhile Survivor Day (at Camp Crystal Lake, as if this horror book wasn't good enough already, but your going to the setting of Friday the 13th) is fast approaching and as punishment Malcolm and Reese must compete in the same team along with Dewey.

This is an excellent book for readers of all ages, easily the best in the series. It is a short novel so kids or those who do not like reading long novels can read it too. This is an hilarious novel, I will definitely be buying the other books in this series that I have not yet read, as you can never have enough Malcolm in the Middle.

The twins in this story are much, much, trouble!! The funny part is when the twins lock Alex out of the house. Then she I think either used her telekinesis or morphed into a puddle and got back into the house using the back door. The best part is at the HAUNTED HOUSE, she scares the twins using her telekinesis to move stuff around. They were so, so, scared!!! Now that taught them a lesson!!

First, ignore the review by the guy from Chile. He can't articulate the language, what makes me think he knows what he's talking about regarding Batman Begins? With any big budget blockbuster comes the inevitable parade of merchandise. Few films other than Star Wars can match the marketing juggernaut of the Batman films. Batman Begins is the long awaited beginning to a new series of Batman films, revived back to life after Joel Schumacher and George Clooney nearly killed the franchise. The official movie guide is a great scrapbook and companion to the film. It features dozens of photographs from the film, absolutely brilliant photography. There are snippets of the script as well as several short pieces detailing Batman's origins, as well as interviews. Not just a throwaway marketing item or a piece of fluff, this is definitely a collectible you'll want to have. It's informative and entertaining.

Batman Beyond To The Rescue

Terry McGinnis patrols Gotham City as Batman. Drawn to an attack on a building, he flies down and sees Shriek. While they fight, Batman has to save a young deaf boy from falling rock. Batman tracks Shriek down, but their fight again involves young Tommy. Part of what makes Shriek evil is his own deafness, and Batman knows that.

Scott Peterson has written and edited several Batman stories for DC Comics. He's also written another Batman Beyond book for young readers: BATMAN BEYOND: NEW HERO IN TOWN.

BATMAN BEYOND: HEAR NO EVIL is written like a comic book. The use of panels and word balloons draw an early reader's eye on, and the layout makes the story fun to read out loud. The art is really well done, showing lots of action and color.

This book is recommended for young fans of the BATMAN BEYOND cartoon.
