This book has the same structure and style as Kaplan's Scholarships (ISBN-13: 978-1419551444). It is easy to read and understand. Each scholarship is listed with an address, contact telephone number, web site, summary, eligibility requirements, amount awarded (financial data), number awarded each year and deadline. All of the numbers that I called and web sites that I visited were accurate and current. It is not organized by the disability.

It is easy to "scan" through the scholarships and find those that apply to a specific student. There were scholarships listed that were not found for my college students by Scholarships.com. My daughter has ADD and LD and my son has a clotting disorder. It is limited in the number of scholarships for ADD or LDs, such as dyslexia. There are none for clotting disorders. There are many listed for physical disabilities, cancer, hemophilia/bleeding disorders, and other traditional disabilities. NONE of the scholarships in this book are listed in Kaplan's or other nondisability scholarship books.

Like all sites, search terms and tools are created differently so get to know them but be picky and patient: the Internet can have a waiting line. Keep the little black bookmark list of favorites up-to-date. Be as specific as possible with search terms, but be willing to change them regularly. Look over your shoulder when dealing with relevance rankings and title searches. Keep up with the paperwork: organize results into topics. The author's nicely organized and written book surfs well with Phil Bradley's INTERNET POWER SEARCHING, John R Levine's THE INTERNET FOR DUMMIES and MORE INTERNET FOR DUMMIES, Valerie Quercia's INTERNET IN A NUTSHELL, and Roy Tennant's CROSSING THE INTERNET THRESHOLD.

You might think that paying over $2,000 for an address book is excessive, but let me tell you, it was worth every penny! The color, design, and paper are all top quality, and I'll admit, it was hard at first writing inside, but the way the paper takes the ink - WOW!

Purists might not want to write in it, but simply frame it. That would work too - I know from experience how good it looks in a gilt frame against a trompe l'oeil wall.

As a college counselor in a highly regarded prep school, I use the Fiske Guide heavily. I greatly value the paragraphs of text description of the colleges; while I advise students and their families that they should, ideally, visit colleges and speak with current students and recent alumni, I find that the Fiske Guide descriptions are one more invaluable piece of information among all the resources students can use in making their decisions. I also have an interactive version of the 1996 guide, loaded onto my hard disk from a CD-ROM. I use this constantly, printing out information for one or two schools for my students. I would like to order a more recent version, if one exists, but I have been frustrated in my efforts to learn how to do this!

This book is a great FM radio station guide. Contains technical info on power, tower height and also info on formats. Why is there no new edition?

This book is the best directory of physicans, hands down! I am a court reporter who needs to locate spellings of doctors on a regular basis. This is a must-have! It is very, very rare that I cannot find a doctor I am looking for in this book. Worth the price!
