25 48 99 101? MYSTICAL and DISORGANIZEDReview Date: 2005-07-07
With 7 glowing 5-star reviews I had high expectations for this. Unfortunately it is short, very short, only 55 minutes. Dyer could have picked any number of "wisebits" or tidbits of inspiration: Top 25, Big 50, Spectacular 101.
I found Dyer's numbering of these points to discount from the messages that he delivers. It is obvious that these numbers 1 ... 101 are not ranked, not sorted or representative of any structured order, i.e. they are arbitrary.
You get to listen to blase new age piano serenity in the background, with Dyer speaking in a hushed tone. I found his counting out of the numbers -- "Number Sixty Five ..." -- to distract from the messages. He pauses between each point, it is easy to distinguish one from another.
This is just a big bucket of ideas, some good, some too common-sensical, some ordinary, some silly (mystical, magical). And since it is only 55 minutes, and there are generous pauses in between, he has only 20 seconds or so to cover each grand tidbit of wisdom. This would be much better in book form, IMO.
I don't seek spiritual mystical gurus who base most/all of their knowledge on mystical, magical ideas. Dyer loves to talk about higher self, spirituality, "divine masters", "divine plan", God, God, God, God, blah blah. If you are looking for new age spirituality, he's your man. (Dyer is certainly smarter and far more sane than other gurus ... like the very strange Eckhart Tolle.)
I like facts, logic, order, structure. I like the ability to hear a set of ideas and think "yes, that's logical, it's a coherent set of knowledge". I can see those things making clear sense for everyone. Much of the knowledge is "sourced", i.e. attributable to great thinkers/philosophers going back even thousands of years (like Confucious, Socrates, Aristotle, etc). I like knowledge that is universal, not arbitrary and subjective. I recommend works by Brian Tracy. He's much more of a professional coach in personal development and achievement, like a college professor instead of an itinerant motivational preacher with mystical ideas.
If you like spiritual, faith-based, "feel good", soft-touchy-feely-mushy, gentle, soul-cuddling, soft-spoken self-help, then this is for you. If that's your preferred style, and if you like to turn the lights down and do light meditation while listening to this, maybe you'll really like it. I didn't care for it.

I recommend this book for everyone and anyone. What I enjoy most about this book is its spiritual undertones, which can be applied to any religion or spiritual background.

Bite-Size Chunks Of Dyer's Wit And WisdomReview Date: 2005-03-26
Every so often, I would visit Wayne Dyer's website because of its neat random quote generator. Sometimes a hoot, but always thought-provoking, Dyer's pithy quotes are a treat to read and digest.
Now, Dyer's wonderful insights are available in the 301-page book Everyday Wisdom-a collection of 300 sayings by the beloved self-development teacher. These quotes address topics such as love, forgiveness, the power of thoughts, internal and external peace, intuition, empowerment, authenticity, attitude, death, abundance, and much more. Here are few samples of Dyer's wit and wisdom featured in this book:
*You're already complete and whole, and nothing external to yourself in the physical world can make your more complete.
*No one can create anger or stress within you. Only you can do that by virtue of how you process your world.
*What you think about expands. If your thoughts are centered on what's missing, then what's missing, by definition, will have to expand.
*Go beyond the ideas of succeeding and failing--these are the judgments. Stay in the process and allow the universe to handle the details.
*Our beliefs are the invisible ingredients in all our activities.
*Once you've learned how to enter your inner kingdom, you have a special retreat within that's always available to you.
*So many people are expecting a miracle instead of being a miracle.
*No one knows enough to be a pessimist.
Everyday Wisdom is great to thumb through for inspiration and to aid in personal growth. You could even choose a quote and meditate on it throughout the day-as well as consider how you might apply its wisdom. Or, if you're in need of guidance, ask a questions and turn to a page at random for sage advice.
Not only is this book a wonderful addition to any library, but it would also make a meaningful gift for others.
A Single Quote Can Transform Your LifeReview Date: 2004-02-07
It seems amazing to think about how words can destroy or enliven our lives. One sentence can inspire a new direction and a phrase can transform your existence. When we are struggling with decisions it is often the wise words of a friend that saves us from making the wrong choice.
Dr. Wayne W. Dyer's thoughts have always been an inspiration to me and I see them as meaningful messages for a hurting planet. There is so much pain in life, but there is also the possibility of living in pure joy.
I still love thinking about this quote: "You are not a human being having a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being having a human experience."
What an empowering thought.
This book is filled with inspiring ideas that refocus your attention on how things actually are instead of how you thought they originally should be. On the surface we may feel that we are drowning in life's challenges, but when you think of yourself as an eternal soul, problems melt away and you view your life from an eternal perspective. This doesn't mean that you don't deal with anguish and sorrow, but you deal with it from a new perspective. Life becomes a blink of the eye in the light of an eternal existence.
I love how Dr. Dyer explains forgiveness as an act of self-love because when you forgive you simply don't have to carry the problem around with you.
Dr. Dyer is really stating what our souls already know to be true. He just says everything so brilliantly. Lately, I've been contemplating his advice about loving those who are difficult to love. I am thinking about his statement about loving and his statement about "the more you give away, the more you get back."
A few of the quotes in this book made me laugh out loud. Dr. Dyer is not always serious and can actually be rather playful in his use of words.
Words can be used as powerful weapons to destroy or they can bring great beauty to our lives. I see beauty in Dr. Wayne Dyer's revelation of inner wisdom. I seem to think about his words at least once a day, especially when I start to think negatively. I am just a soul trying to live in this body that ties me to the earth. One day I won't live here anymore and it is empowering to think of myself as an eternal being temporarily in this school of life.
"You create your thoughts, your thoughts create your intentions, and your intentions create your reality." ~Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
I'm working on this one! However lately I've noticed that my "invisible and silent" thoughts are being heard loud and clear. Although I still think our lives benefit from the power of the positive choice. Some thoughts magically transform your life without the addition of action, and some thoughts grow inside you and propel you forward into action.
If you think about it, spiritual teachers have been giving us the secret keys to inner wisdom throughout time. I think of quotes as keys. I can use them to open up new and unexplored territory in the areas of thought and spirituality.
Dr. Dyer has a lot of keys to free you from the prison of negativity.

It really does keep you on the pathReview Date: 2006-09-12
Well, about 20 minutes into listening to it, I found myself talking back at the CD like "oh yeah, you know it..." and "that's a great saying." And I found that I was really enjoying it. I listened to all of the sayings that I could until I got to work, but here's the thing. I didn't remember all of them. BUT, I did remember the ones that I needed to remember. It's so great how it worked.
Sidestepping - This morning I asked myself "OK, what can I do to control the ego today?". I told myself that I would do my stretches and exercises before going into work (which is something that I've never done in my entire life by the way) and then do a 4 lapper today on lunch around a small pond near my work (works out to be a little over a mile). I walked outside to go to work and saw that it was raining though... uh oh... After I got to work and lunchtime came, I heard my ego telling me, "It's raining. You don't need to go walking in the rain?! You can go tomorrow. It's not even that much exercise... walking... too little work to get wet over." This is what I was telling myself. I got up, grabbed my plastic poncho and went for my walk. I was the only one out there. People were looking at me funny. I didn't care one bit! I was having a blast!
The ego isn't a bad thing though. It's there to do what it thinks is best. It's trying to keep me safe. I reassure to my ego that everything will be fine no matter what happens and what risks I take. I did that today on my walk, but what made my walk today so great were the little sayings that Dyer said on his CD. It lifted me up to a new level. I've been seeking lately and this CD really pushed me to the next level. I know that on that walk that I changed the color of my aura - permanently. I've become a higher energy person - permanently. Just because of this wonderful, wet, spiritual, and godlike walk.
Get yourself a copy of this CD. Pop it in whenever you need to Stay on the Path.

Align Youself With A Field Of Energy Known As IntentionReview Date: 2004-08-10
The Power of Intention Cards by Dr. Wayne Dyer are a wonderful companion to his book The Power Of Intention. However, it is not necessary to have read the book to benefit from the wisdom of this 50-card deck, or to use the cards for daily meditation and guidance.
Each card features a simplistic graphic and a brief phrase reflecting a principle from the book The Power Of Intention. On the other side, Dyer expounds on the principle, giving practical insight on how to connect to Source and utilize the power of Intention to attract the energy you desire.
For example, on the back of Overcome Ego's Hold card is the wisdom:
"Let go of your ego's need to be right. When you're in the middle of an argument, ask yourself: Do I want to be right or be happy? When you choose the joyous, loving, spiritual mode, your connection to intention is strengthened."
Another example, from the back of the Respect Yourself card:
"Make an internal commitment to respect yourself and feel worthy of all that the universe has to offer. If you disrespect anyone or anything God creates, you disrespect that creative force and tarnish your connection to the power of intention."
The Power of Intention Cards offers powerful tools for personal transformation and inner freedom. Although I initially found the graphics masculine and quite plain, the wisdom contained in the cards outweighed any misgivings I had about the illustrations. I highly recommend this deck.

Cards for EnlightenmentReview Date: 2004-08-18
One notable characteristic of this set of cards is that the graphics are small, old-fashioned, and male oriented. I don't know if this quality is a personal expression of Dr. Dyer's personality, but I found that it might be something male readers might find more appealing then the many cards with more artsy, feminine images. Although this is the most male set of cards I've ever seen, it was certainly an acceptable characteristic to me as a woman since they came from a male author.
Overall, this is a great set of cards for those who want to spend more time thinking about the concepts that Dr. Dyer teaches in The Power of Intention, but don't have the time or desire to reread the whole book every week. The cards are an attractive way to choose a quote or two to post for easy viewing as you retrain your mind to think more positively. I know the book and these cards have made me feel better about my life, and hey, "I want to feel good!" (Dr. Dyer quote).

I wanted to hear it right through in the one afternoon, and once again only days after the first playing, which is unusual for me. If it was a book, you would call it a "page turner".
It hangs together well despite being a very varied collection of observations and stories, and it really transported me to a somewhat better place while I was listening to it. (Which was handy at the time!)
As we say in Australia, a darn good yarn.

Dyer speaks of self development, particularly in moving beyond the ego and being open to spirit. One of his most profound statements is that there can be nothing on the list of things you are unwilling to do to achieve a goal. He also speaks knowledgably on focus and manifesting what you want. It's not as much of a how-to as his manifesting CD, but it's understandable.
I also, upon Wayne's recommendation in the program, read "Power vs Force" by Dr. David Hawkins, a profound book.
Myss speaks of living the symbolic life and being open to spirit. She includes aspects of her work on archetypes (Sacred Contracts) and self-esteem. As I found when I heard her live, she tends to ramble. However, I found her ideas interesting and I took plenty of notes.
I prefer Myss's books and her scripted programs to her live ones because they are better organized that way.
So, if you want detailed, thorough, actionable programs, get other ones by these people. If you want an overview of their insight and some ideas to work on yourself, then this program does a great job.

This can all begin with learning these 10 Secrets for
Success and Inner Peace:
1. Have a Mind That Is Open to Everything and Attached to Nothing
2. Don't Die with Your Music Still in You
3. You Can't Give Away What You Don't Have

A Year's Worth of Inspirational QuotesReview Date: 2008-04-21
Dyer believes that inspiration can be cultivated and that it is an achievable state of being.
This book is essentially a distillation of Dyer's other works. He presents 365 basic spiritual principles in one or two sentences. This is not a book you sit down to read; rather it is a daily inspirational guide, best suited for meditative/contemplative purposes.
Here are three samples from the book:
"Thoughts themselves are an energy and it's vital to realize that you need to work on not holding on to the ones that will weaken you."
"When you're at peace with your life and in a state of tranquility, you actually send out a vibration of energy that impacts all living creatures, including plants, animals...and even babies!"
"The phrase I expect miracles is more than a New Age slogan, it's how you feel when you live each day in spirit. You leave the world of anxiety, fear, doubt, and impossibility and enter a new, wonderful world where all things are possible."

to it and was very pleased. There was a lot of knowledge and wisdom
from his many books and tapes and was put together in 101 ways to
transform your life. Aside, from the excellent content it is nice to
be use as a meditation tape. I put it on and go to sleep and always
awaken refreshed and positive. I gave it to my adult son who is
going through challenges with his wife and family and he said he
did feel peaceful after listing to this tape. After listening to it
again, I decided that if a person is not into positive thinking or metaphysical
thinking then this is not the first tape I would recommend. I think it
depends on the person but I would not recommend it to someone who
has never read or listened to self help material as the first tape.
This is a great CD. I highly recommend it. F.J.
