this book was very entertaining if you like the Colert Report.. i bought this book because i believe mr. colbert is a very brilliant man, and has knows alot about politics and such. it ends up this book is just outlining the basis for america. he loves god, hates gays, and gives you his opinions straight up. good read

In general I found the book tedious, occasionally interrupted by a hilarious joke or insight. I think Stephen Colbair is more easily absorbed in 30-minute video doses, rather than the gift of Gutenberg. Wait til it comes out in paperback before spending your money...

I guess the joke's on me. As I kept reading each chapter, I expected more. But everything was more of the same. A title for the book should be, "Stephen Colbert has some funny one-liners among his diatribe for a right wing America". That's about it. Colbert is kind of cold guy who likes to keep his viewers on tv at a distance and guessing if he's on the level or trying to be funny. Well, the book is the same way. Colbert is either incredibly shallow or he just feels more comfortable keeping his distance with his readers. What has worked for me on tv fell short in this book.

Nearly every SENTENCE in this book is funny-genius. It's mind-boggling how smart and hilarious it is. It almost wore me out. Since I take books everywhere, and read everywhere, I found myself laughing everywhere, and sometimes inappropriately. However, it was worth it, because it made me smile, and, I believe, it made ME funnier in real life.

I found this book throughly enjoyable and very funny, but the reading experience was marred by the fact that many image files - especially those including texts - were very hard to read, and even totally illegible in some cases (the "childhood letter" is probably the worst offender in this regard).

Most of these problems would have been entirely avoidable if the publisher had taken more care when converting the book to the Kindle format - for example, by resizing certain images so that they would have been split over two pages instead of one, and by increasing the brightness contrast - and thus I have to bump this product down to four stars. People who have bought the printed version of the book are obviously unaffected.
