Not Just for Jewish Readers

I have been a student of different esoteric schools for about 20 years, but had only a peripheral knowledge of the esoteric
Jewish stream of kabbalah. I was attracted to the title of this book due to my interest in history and the divine feminine,
but I was a little hesitant when I flipped through it and saw all the charts and Hebrew letters. I wanted to learn the stories
of these seven holy women, however, and I knew I needed to learn more about Kabbalah, so I decided to give it a try. Boy,
am I glad I did. I want to share with my fellow readers who came up in the Christian tradition like I did: Don't be intimidated
by the Hebrew. Ms. Hieronimus makes this difficult topic accessible and understandable. The charts are AMAZINGLY helpful,
and I finally feel like I can begin to make some sense out of Kabbalah. The first two chapters are an excellent summary and
overview of the tree of life that sets the stage for her stories on the prophetesses. The rest of the book goes chapter by
chapter through the seven prophetesses and correlates their lessons to the seven days of the week, special foods, and parts
of the body. Believe me, you don't have to be Jewish to appreciate this book. You just have to be a seeker interested in
the divine feminine and this esoteric stream of holy wisdom from the people who have influenced the religious beliefs of so
much of the Western world.

A deeply spiritual compilation that reaches out to the reader with its message of tolerance

Scholar Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, a scholar in the ways of Islamic law, Sufism, and chemistry, and chairman of the Michigan-based
educational organization Islamic Supreme Council of America, presents Keys to the Divine Kingdom, an introduction for lay
readers to better understand the physical and spiritual worlds. Sufi teachings in particular must be "tasted" and experienced
fully, rather than simply read or spoken, to be truly understood. Keys to the Divine Kingdom is specifically written for lay
people and other non-Mulsim readers, and to this end Arabic terminology is replaced with English translations save in a few
instances where the original Arabic is pivotal to the message. The original source material for Keys to the Divine Kingdom
is Kabbani's oral presentations, which were unrehearsed and entirely from the heart and soul. Chapters reflect upon the journey
of weary individuals frustrated and confused by conflicting religious messages, degrees of nearness to God, holy figures,
the role of science in understanding what is not know to man, and how to "polish the heart", and much more. A deeply spiritual
compilation that reaches out to the reader with its message of tolerance, enlightenment, and approaching God through the virtue
of humility and improving the self.

Both this title and Mabon and the Guardians of Celtic Britain: Hero Myths in the Mabinogion are essential to a student's understanding of these wonderful Welsh classics; however the need to re-release them with different titles escapes me....

Ably translated from the original Italian by R. Burr Litchfield (Professor of History, Brown University), The King's Body:
Sacred Rituals Of Power In Medieval And Early Modern Europe by Sergio Bertelli (Professor of History, University of Florence)
presents an amazing and scholarly focus on a critical piece of European history: the nature and meaning of the sacred rituals
associated with kingship. From the Vandal kings of Spain to the long succession of kings in England and France, The King's
Body explores the multiple significance of rituals from birth to crowning and death. Very highly recommended for anyone with
a keen interest in the history of the European monarchies, the black-and-white illustrations of classical artwork enhance
this scholarly and serious historical analysis.

Fr Groeschel is well-known for his speaking talents and his writings but this little book is outstanding. His comments and
guidance each day through Lent has helped me contemplate on issues I hadn't even thought about. He helps you see things in
perspective and deal with adversity grounded in a perspective based on historical understanding. Lent is now in its fourth
week and every day I am eagerly looking forward to reading his text.

This is an excellent book if you are doing research for a paper, or just wanting to learn more about Hinduism. It goes over
a lot of different analytical viewpoints on the myths of Lord Krishna's life, and how his image is tied into the perception
of God in Hindusim as a whole. I strongly recommend it if you have even the slightest interest!

This a great CD, with all of Dante's Divine Comedy, read very expressively by the actor Claudio Carini. All files are in mp3
format. Its a great way to become familiar with this work in the original italian. A free copy of the text can be downloaded
from various sites on the internet. I bought the CD in Italy. Greatly recommended.

An amazing account of a time and woman like no other. The Countess di Castiglione can be looked upon as a precursor to many
artists that have explored self-portraiture, though her "art" captured her narcissism more than any underlying concept or
expression. In beautiful costumes from her personal collection, the Countess was photographed and then had artists paint
over the portrait to create scenes from history, current operas, or novels of the time. This book compliments the wonderful
exhibit recently displayed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I had the pleasure of seeing the exhibit and
I was floored by the effortless artistry by which the Countess expressed her deep-seated self love (and loathing). I highly
recommend finding out more about this beautiful woman, so scandalous in her time, so historically important in ours.

Worthwhile purchase for those interested in learning more about kabbalah and the seasoned who'd appreciate an attractive book with powerful images and information.
