The beauty of innocence.

Dee Schore has produced a delightful and magical tale of the joys of imagination and innocence. The child in this story is at once every child and no child ever known. I couldn't help but marvel at her resilience and coping skills as a child from a multi ethnic family from the heart of the melting pot that is America. How many times during my reading did I wish to reach out and pluck young Dee and make her my own?
I highly recommend Spirito Slendido as a must read for anyone who has ever imagined or dreamed of princes or angels or anything beyond the confines of their mother's apron strings. I trust there will be more from Ms. Schore.

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful new translation of the Sri Sri Ramakrishna Lilaprasanga. Swami Chetanananda has done an extraordinary job with Swami Saradananda's classic. Many kudos as well to the Vedanta Society of St. Louis. This edition is well bound and filled with many many beautiful pictures, some of whom I have never seen before. Truly a wonderful blessing for the holidays, and one that I will use and treasure for many years to come.
An Indian Saint

"Sri Ramakrishna was one of the greatest of India's spiritual adepts of recent times. ...By assimilating the ... practices of different faiths into his own personal practice, he presented a powerful example of respect for other traditions, even while maintaining a deep fidelity to his own. His ... life remains a guide and inspiration to millions on their spiritual path."
So writes His Holiness the Dalai Lama, exiled leader of Tibetan Buddhists. The Dalai Lama is well-known in the United States; Ramakrishna is not. This biography, a faithful translation from the Indian Bengali, will serve as history's correction to all who take a devout and detailed pilgrimage through its pages.
The Hindu priest Ramakrishna (1836-1886) was, by many of his contemporaries as well as those who knew him only distantly in time and place, regarded as a living incarnation of God. At the least, he graces the company of saints. His message was one of
liberation -- from superstition, fear, and religious intolerance -- and of unity -- a unity of all creation as an expression of the holy.
In his brief 50 years of life, he attracted and inspired a generation of young Indians, led by Swami Vivekananda who went on with the other 15 original disciples to form the Ramakrishna Order and to spread its teachings through India, Europe, and the United States.
The life of Ramakrishna was first recorded by Swami Saradananda (1865-1927), and is now translated into English by Swami Chetanananda, minister of the Vedanta Society of St. Louis.
Swami Saradananda cared for Ramakrishna during his final illness and later became a monk in the new religious order. He was admirably situated to know the principals, to converse with them, and to record their reminiscences. He spoke with many who had known Ramakrishna from his humble birth in the little village of Kamarpukur, through his service in the Temple at Dakshineswar on the Ganges River, until his death of cancer near Calcutta in 1886.
Seven years in preparation, this translation of Ramakrishna's life story takes its place as the authentic, factual, descriptive, interpretive, and comprehensive biography of a spiritual giant. The book includes a biography of Swami Saradananda, a detailed listing of chapter contents, a chronology of Ramakrishna's life, a glossary, and an index. Over 100 illustrations, many in full color, bring to life the characters and locations of the book.
While Sri Ramakrishna and His Divine Play will undoubtedly serve as the scholarly resource on Ramakrishna for generations to come, it is a highly readable and engrossing story, well within the understanding of the average reader. Its 1,000-plus pages should not discourage anyone who seeks spiritual nourishment of the highest order.

There is no better discussion of true Christianity, and Christian living than found in this volume, and it is helpful for any who wish to truly understand what is expected of them. There are helpful chapters on the proper organization of a congregation, observance of communion, marriage/children, and the true foes of the Christian.

This is a MOST informative read on the Fates (the 3 spirits who determine the origin, flow and destiny of us all). To ME, the MOST compelling part of the book was the ceremony of inviting the Fates to dinner. I followed the general outline for the dinner and was surprised to actually have these 3 marvelous spirits attend. They revealed to me new insights to my own life that I had never experienced before. Also most compelling was Chapter 10 AND the Epilogue which emphasized the current state of our planet, both socially and environmentally. Zsuzsanna explains that WE as a species, in our entirety can and MUST come together to address these issues. As witches, we need to stand up and take the lead by our very examples of husbandry for the Earth and all on it. This can be done in our everyday lives and through pressure on our "failing political system" and our failing "socio-economic system" as well.
I highly recommend this book to ALL. Not JUST witches or Pagans. It is a must read for anyone seeking wisdom, and insight into our destiny both personal and as a worldwide community. Although Ms Budapest is noted as a feminist writer this has valuable information to everyone, female as well as male, and is a must read for people the world over.

"The Bible promises that a serious child of God can know the perfect will of God for his life and experience the joy, reality, and fullness of divine guidance" with that assurance Bob Mumford leads us into a further understanding of the process of flowing in God's guidance (p. 21). On page 40 he tells us "...most guidance occurs when we are not even conscious of it." God arranges circumstances in the lives of His children. God's guidance is referred to as "adventurous" in more than one place in this book and that is a good way to describe it. Mumford points out "The world calls it luck. The Christian calls it providence" (p. 44). Learning to walk in God's guidance is learning to cultivate an intimate walk with God he adds. This is a very helpful, inspiring book which I strongly recommend.

Mumford draws from the Bible to offer guidelines on how to determine the will of God and this book is one of the best I have ever read on that topic. (One of the other ones I can think of is Kenneth Hagin's How You Can Be Led by the Spirit of God. The two books cover different aspects but they are both very helpful.) To summarize very briefly, he says there are three things you should look for in determining how God's will applies to everyday, real life situations: (1) the word of God (as revealed in the Bible), (2) the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, and (3) everyday circumstances. He backs this up with examples from the Bible and the testimony of his own life. The author is currently involved in a ministry which he calls the Lifechangers ministry. This is a great book and it has been a great influence on me in seeking God's guidance. It is one of a number of good books that he has written.

If I had a wish, it would be that I could have read Kerri's book, 25 years ago. After reading hundreds of books along my Path, and being a self-proclaimed aficionado of Spiritual books, it is with conviction that I give "Uncovering The Divine Within, A Journey of Self Love", Five Stars!
Remarkable in its ability to "cut to the chase" and get right down to the core of the matter, but, with all the graciousness of a 'Best Friend'. Kerri has a gift for taking the shocking, and sometimes horrific out of the realization that we, alone, are responsible for our selves, and our lives. And then she goes above and beyond with clarity in giving us the "How To's". In identifying one's issues, investigating the 'whys', and what to do in order to accept, forgive, heal, and re-create who and what we TRULY are. With unbridled honesty, Kerri openly shares her Divine Self with us, and shows us how to create the life of our dreams.
Kerri's book is an infinite gift, because the greatest gift we can give to humanity, is to first love ourselves into Being. I have also purchased two more copies, of Kerri's book. As Gifts, for two very special ladies in my life.

I met Kerri at her book signing event in Delmar, NY on Thursday Oct 18th. I felt blessed, not only did I meet Kerri I actually had a great conversation with her. At the end of our conversation she gave me this hug that was so genuine and was so needed, I thought that even if I don't get anything out of the book I feel beautiful. I started reading the book in the evening and finished it the following morning and started to read it again, because I'm sure there was something I missed, I was right. I called Kerri and thanked her for writing such a profound book, I didn't know what else to say. Even in the introduction where it was written, "Our excuses are what keep us in cycles of unhappiness, longing and powerlessness", I thought that's me. It is all right to love myself, I just need a kind way to do it and "Uncovering the Divine Within" is a beautiful guide to get me there. Thank you, Kerri! Your Spirituality radiates throughout the whole book.

I enjoyed the author's use of regional dialects. It brings color to the character's that star in her childhood memories. I felt like I was in New York during WWII and I could almost smell the Pasta on the stove.
Reading this book took me back to a time when I was a child and I loved listening to the adults talk. I found it to be like comfort food! It made me think of my parents and all the good food and conversation that made up my world when I was young.
If you want a book that has Humor, surprise, and some bitter sweet memories, then this is a book for you to add to your collection. It is a book you will find yourself reading again and again just for the shear pleasure of losing yourself in MS.Schore's engaging family memories.
