This is the first book of Holly Jacobs that I've read...and I'm telling you, I'm a definite fan for life. I was at a low in life and was reading this story in the bathtub and started laughing so are I almost drowned myself. She had fabulous characters and the most terrific sense of humor. I'm hooked!

"Making Mr. Right" was the lesser of these two stories in that it went all too easily, and clothes were all there was to making the man. I got the impression at times that surface was all that mattered, when I'm sure the author didn't mean that; she just didn't have enough room to deal with other matters. Also, the misogynist atmosphere of the office: I was rooting for someone, hopefully the heroine, to take those boys to court for sexual discrimination! No one should have to work in those kinds of conditions. So in all, though this book had a good situation and interesting characters and a lot of good chemistry (sometimes that chemistry was too drawn out), it was a little too fluffy and surface for my tastes. But I look forward to more by the author.

"I Waxed My Legs for This?" sounds too much like the country song, but it was the better story with a lot of humor. Nicely-turned characters, great magnetism, and keep your hanky at the ready. Just the right length for this format.

Denton and Jacobs are great!

MAKING MR RIGHT by Jamie Denton: It takes more than a good plot to come up with an engaging tale. When you gather up two charming characters, a large dash of tantalizing narration, some insightful descriptions, a healthy splash of sizzling sexual tension, and an author with a great sense of humor, you have all the ingredients for a fascinating story. Now just give it a light stir and let them work their magic. The result? An entertaining and utterly delightful story like Jamie Denton's MAKING MR RIGHT!

Ms Denton's warm personality shines through brightly in her latest offering to her fans. MAKING MR RIGHT is an immensely enjoyable story with an adorable hero. For all his `geekishness', Simon had me hooked from the moment he made his appearance in Jaycee's broom closet, er, sorry, office.

One of my favorite scenes in MAKING MR RIGHT involves spilt wine, plenty of postage stamps and Simon's large bed! I couldn't decide if I wanted to turn up the air-conditioning or double over laughing. Jamie Denton has proved true to form once more by penning a truly captivating story with lively, colorful and humorous characters that leave a lasting impression.

MAKING MR RIGHT has all the panache for a vivacious and amusing romance and I'd recommend it as a must read to all lovers of romantic comedy!

I WAXED MY LEGS FOR THIS? by Holly Jacobs: I WAXED MY LEGS FOR THIS? is an absolutely delightful tale. Holly Jacobs has penned a hilarious story with rich lively characters that will have readers laughing right to the very end!

I adored Carrie; here is a heroine with plenty of spunk, a delicious sense of humor and a daring sense of adventure. Carrie has had Jack wrapped around her little finger ever since she moved in next door to him as a child. No wonder she actually got him to sift through her puppy's 'byproducts' for the class ring the dog had accidentally swallowed. So expecting him to rush over from work just to pull wax strips off her legs is nothing.

Holly Jacobs has presented readers of romantic comedy with a story they shall not soon forget. Crammed with plenty of hilarious moments and loaded with enough sexual tension to knock your socks off, this is truly an enchanting tale. Ms Jacobs' exceptional talent for penning extremely humorous and captivating romances is clearly evident in I WAXED MY LEGS FOR THIS?

For all lovers of romantic comedy, I WAXED MY LEGS FOR THIS? is simply a must read!

Packed full of humor, plenty of steamy heat and lots of electrifying sexual tension, this book will leave a smile lingering on your face long after you've turned the last page.

Bailey Grayson is in Los Angeles from Wisconsin looking for her sister, who is a runaway. She'd hired a private investigator and he'd told her that her sister had been seen with Devon Shore, a pimp, so Bailey is dressed like a hooker, hoping to hook some info, but unknown to her, detective Mason O'Neill is staking out said pimp and when someone tries to force Bailey into his car, O'Neill interferes. He arrests Bailey, but at the station his superiors like her idea of trying to infiltrate the pimps stable. O'Neill, however, isn't happy with the plan.

This is an exciting read, one that had me hooked right from the beginning and kept me glued to my chair. Naturally sparks are zinging back and forth between the detective and the sheep in hooker's clothing. The story steams and it's exciting to boot and I highly recommend it.

So sweet -- You cry!

Review Date: 2002-05-18
Jamie Denton has a special talent for pulling and tugging at the heartstrings inside you. I cried a lot throughout THE BIOLOGICAL BOND. I cried for the heroine, Rebecca Martinson, who lost her baby right after birth without even knowing the sex of the child. I cried for the hero, Sam, who had to take the biggest risk of his life and contact the biological mother of his fourteen year old daughter, Melanie, because she is his last hope for a bone marrow donor to his child. After Rebecca and Sam meet there are sparks everywhere. I cried for the two of them and their inability to recognize and live up to their true feelings and desires. And when they do, it's almost too late. The scenes and obstacles that come between Melanie and Rebecca, Melanie and Sam, and the three of them together are heartbreaking. You sympathize with them and for their respective losses. You feel for them and the things they face and need to overcome. Then there is the absolute love. The love that Sam has for his daughter is stunning and beautiful but most of all, priceless. Jamie Denton did an incredible job with the heartwarming relationships between Melanie and Same. Thank you for the love you give these characters and the happy-ever-after. The love the characters shared and the happily ever after will touch every reader, and make this a keeper book.

Fourteen years ago lawyer Rebecca Martinson unwilling placed her child for adoption. She's never forgotten that haunting first cry of life and the child she never held. Now in family practice, she buries her past in a successful career based on helping families in need. Until one shocking day, that is, when Sam Winslow enters her office and declares himself the father of a dying daughter in need of her biological mother's bone marrow.

Desperate to save his daughter, Sam had the court records opened so he could track down his daughter Melanie's birth mother. Now he faces the adult version of his beloved daughter complete with unexpected and unwanted attraction. When Rebecca demands a month to meet and get to know her daughter, Sam capitulates with the understanding that afterward she will walk away, and Melanie will never know the visitor was her birth mother.

Both Rebecca and Sam know the risk heartbreak by allowing Melanie to meet her mother. They don't realize that they also risk heartbreak by spending time together. Rebecca's family are judges and doctors; Sam owns a farm. Rebecca has a successful career and Sam doesn't see how she could ever trade her power suits for an apron. With all their differences, however, they share a daughter they both love.

THE BIOLOGICAL BOND delivers an unexpected love story with tender empathy. Indeed, author Jamie Denton's flair for creating believable characters and a bond that go beyond blood result in a memorable, beautiful tale. As the biological mother, adoptive father and beloved daughter each reveal their innermost fears, the reader's heart can't resist a flush of understanding. Further, the unique family environment, rich characterization, and revelation of secrets keeps the pages turning. THE BIOLOGICAL BOND comes very highly recommended.

In San Francisco child advocate attorney Michaela Corelli joins her two friends Lauren Massey and Rosy Constable on a lock and key party (for the pals' tales see ON THE LOOSE BY Shannon Hollis and SLOW RIDE by Carrie Alexander). To Mikki's shock her former husband Nolan Baker is at Painter's Cove Resort too. Stunning her even further, Nolan informs Mikki they are still married as the lawyer she selected to handle her divorce was disbarred before the filing.

Though he knows he has a death wish, Nolan still loves Mikki and plans to get back into her life. However, though she enjoys the sex and seems to love him too, Mikki refuses to engage in anything after the resort. She admits to herself she owes Nolan the truth but is too cowardly to reveal her shame preferring to dim it with alcohol.

The third tale in the Lock and Key trilogy is a terrific ending that stars an intriguing individual who was a victim as a child albeit her profession, but the adult still hides in shadows out of fear. Mikki is not very likable yet the audience will feel deeply for her and pray that somehow Nolan can reach her. Jamie Denton provides a powerful tale that is more than just an inferno under the covers, but is an insightful realistic look at how crippling sexual abuse received as a child terrorizes the adult.

Emily Dugan is getting over the flu and a hectic assignment at work as she plans on visiting her grandmother, who she calls Grandy, in California. However she is let go because of corporate downsizing and her boyfriend dumps her because he's been cutting the grass in other pastures. So she's not exactly feeling like a million bucks when she gets to Grandy's and finds out by a gorgeous hunk of a fire inspector named Drew Perry, that Grandy is in the hospital.

Drew tells Emily that her grandmother is going to be all right, but that she'd gotten some slight burns in a small fire. Drew is in charge of investigating a series of fires and it's not long before he's interested in investigating Emily as well. And wouldn't you know it, the one thing that can cure a girls blues is a good man, especially a good looking man. And Emily, who has no job or boyfriend, just might be ready for a move and a good man.

I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed this book. I read away during four consecutive lunch breaks at work, skipping nourishment, but you know, I needed to lose a few pounds anyway.

In Los Angeles the police arrest art restorer Laurel Jennings and charge her with the murder of her business partner Jonathan Linton. The evidence against Laurel is overwhelming as she had the motive, means and opportunity and her fingerprints are on the murder weapon.

Ex Los Angeles County District Attorney Damon Metcalf returns home to represent his former lover at the bail hearing and subsequently at the trial when no defense lawyer would agree to handle the case. Damon realizes that the powerful Linton family is pushing for her conviction and made it clear to the legal profession to stay out or face the consequences. When someone breaks into Laurel's business facility, Damon fears for her life especially as they begin to uncover an apparent deal Jonathan had arranged that appears nebulous especially with the amount of money exchanged. Soon more homicides follow with Laurel as the prime suspect although she has an alibi, Jonathan and the danger to both of them mounting.

Jamie Denton provides readers with a terrific romantic legal thriller filled with plenty of suspense. The lead couple is a nice pairing as they still love one another and though both agreed to professional and platonic, can't help but jump each other's bones. The whodunit is cleverly devised so that the audience will wonder who and why. Sub-genre fans will not REMAIN SILENT as to how entertaining this tale is.

Instead he is holding her hand through a string of disastrous blind dates. Until he decides to bring her to the logical conclusion that she can't live without him. This book was awesome. I started to read it last night and couldn't put it down. I had to finish it right away. As a result I went to bed at 1:30 even though I had to work today. But it was worth it! From page one I knew this was going to be a keeper. Very sexy, very funny plus an original plot. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Sydney Travers is an independent and successful veterinarian who wants a baby to make her life complete. She doesn't want or need a man around because they've only caused her heartache and decides to become artificially inseminated. After her procedure she is emotionally strung out and ends up in bed with her best friend Derek. They proceed to act out of character and have unprotected sex three times which, of course, sets up the conflict when Sydney becomes pregnant.

Before they became intimate Derek had been working up the nerve to tell Sydney that he was in love with her but held his tongue fearing he would lose her friendship. When her pregnancy is confirmed he doesn't care that the baby may not be his and proposes marriage. She does care and flatly refuses. Derek, a scientist, then decides to "woo" her using a scientific approach that has some funny results.

During his "wooing" Derek proves to be a loving, patient and very persistent guy and I was rooting for him all the way. Sydney takes the "men are scum" bit too far, especially when it is revealed that they've been best friend's for twenty-two years but it was fun watching Derek attempt to win his woman.

I really enjoyed The Seduction of Sydney. It was entertaining, sexy and satisfying and because it was obvious that the couple enjoyed being together and had much more in common than a simple case of lust. And, best of all, it was exactly what a romance should be: romantic!

Greer Lomax is haunted by her last case with the FBI. A case gone wrong that left her in the hands of a serial killer. The reason behind this...a miscalculation on the part of her husband Ash Keller a top FBI profiler. Needing space and time to deal with what happened to her, Greer moves to Magnolia, North Carolina in order to renovate a rundown Victorian. While doing this she deals with her mother, and with the stress of being deputy for the local police force. But when a serial killer starts operating in her county she is forced to face her demon's sooner then she is ready for and this also brings her estranged husband to town. Together these two work a new case but Greer has lost her trust in Ash and that could be a problem, especially when the heat and fire still burns between them. Will this be the final thing that tears them apart or will this be the case that allows them both to heal and believe in the love that is between them?

This was a fair romantic suspense although there were parts of the story that seemed to drag a little. The "mystery" of the killer is not really that much of a mystery and will not be the element that will keep the reader engaged. Rather it's the dance the two main characters perform while dealing with the issues between them. At times the reader may find themselves frustrated with Greer's stubborn nature but bare with her. The romance between her and her estranged husband will make up for it.

Top Notch Romantic suspense

Jamie Denton has writing a spine tingling, toe-curling novel of romantic suspense. It will keep you on the edge through out the whole story.

Greer Lomax ran from her job as an FBI profiler back to her hometown. She took a job as a small town deputy hoping it would keep her demons at bay. Greer was the victim of a sadistic man on her last case and it torments her daily. When a body turns up where it's not supposed to be Greer's anxieties are heading into overdrive. But this dead body brings to her and her town the one person she wanted to avoid.

Special Agent Ash Keller reads about the going on in Greer's hometown and it sends a red flag to his profiler instincts. This mission is two fold for Ash; he needs to see if this is really a serial killer and to get Greer back in his life. Ash's feelings for Greer have never died and he would do anything to get her back.

Ash's and Greer's relationship is not your typical romance. Its deeper and more painful since their last cast together effected them both. These two character though wounded by their past are strong and powerful. They send sparks off each other whether they are arguing or making love. The suspense is riveting and will keep you reading well until you have finished the novel. This book ranks right up there for me as a spectacular romantic suspense novel. I can't wait to see what this author brings next.

When a grave is opened due to a contested will, authorities discover an extra body in the casket. This is the last thing burned out FBI profiler and now small town deputy Greer Lomax needs. Haunted by memories of the last FBI case she worked on, she escaped to her hometown to avoid these kinds of crimes. The killers MO is to match recently deceased men with the perfect woman for them. The only problem is that the women aren't dead yet. When she records the crime in VICAP, it comes to the attention of the FBI, and her ex-husband Ash Keller arrives on scene to take over the investigation. Greer has difficulty working with Ash, as she still holds him responsible for becoming the target of a serial killer. Will they be able to put their differences aside to find the killer, who is amassing several victims?

Denton has been primarily known for her Harlequin Blaze romances. Denton has taken a departure in her writing, weaving a fascinating and psychological thriller, with a touch of spicy romance. "The Matchmaker" is definitely not for the squeamish, but it's a good thriller overall. Those familiar with publishing house Brava (light erotic romance) might be a little disappointed, as the sizzling sex scenes are kept to a minimum.

When I started reading this book, I thought for sure it was a 5-star winner given the storyline and the set up of characters by the author. However, as I continued with my reading, I couldn't believe the horrid writing technique of the author. This book started to sound like a total amateur had written it. First of all, Greer Lomax, ex-FBI agent, has some serious psychological problems and no town, no matter how small and desperate for good help, would want someone with her mental issues as deputy protector of their townspeople. How can someone with such problems herself be expected to deal with law and order and the safety of others? Then as I read on, Greer has a set back where she almost shoots the man she loves and in the same breadth argues with him that she is healthy enough to continue on with the investigation of a serial killer! The author's technique of writing and the believability of the details in the story get worse as the story continues. There is really no excitement to the climax in the unveiling of the killer. It was no surprise at all in the end and again the conclusion left me flat and very disappointed. How could the main male figure in this story (Ash Keller, big-time FBI agent) even consider the reliability of such a weak heroine? Granted, he does spend a lot of time telling her how thin and frail she is, so I'll give him some credibility there. In addition, I found Greer's attitude toward her mother absolutely disgusting. She puts her down, ignores her and all but can't stand her and then, later on in the book, Greer's mother talks of her love and concern for her daughter which further confirms what a weak character our female lead actually is. Also, where did all this sisterly love for Vivien come into play??? (I guess almost losing her sister to the killer made Greer figure it wasn't so bad after all having her around). Throughout the length of the book, Greer basically couldn't stand to be around anyone in her family. I have come to the conclusion that I am very spoiled by authors such as Nora Roberts. To read one of her works and then pick up a story such as "The Matchmaker" makes me really question how books and writings of this caliber are actually published. Don't waste your time with this one! Sorry, Jamie, I doubt I will ever pick up another one of your works in the near-to-distant future. I generously gave it 3 stars because the groundwork for a really good story is there - the writing of it is what tore the whole thing apart for me.

Architect Jordan McBride is filling in for his brother, Austin, who is currently honeymooning. Jordan is amazed to discover that the small usiness Austin started, to help see himself through college, has now become so popular; the phone never stops ringing! In fact, business is so good, all the entertainers are booked solid right through Valentine's day. Just when Jordan decides he'll have to start turning people away for engagements for the weekend of Valentine's Day, a gorgeous woman walks in, hands over two thousand dollars in cash, and requests a Valentine Fantasy with "the works"!

Cait Sullivan, a reporter who will do almost anything to break away from covering glittery parties and charity auctions of the rich and famous, is tipped off that Fantasy for Hire not only provides entertainment for parties but is a facade to hide the real business of the firm - providing escorts and other questionable "favors". Cait has been desperate to break into the real world of news coverage and she smells a story! Going undercover, Cait is determined to gather enough evidence against the firm and the owner to blow the cover sky high with a story.

VALENTINE FANTASY should have had a clause printed on the first page of the book: "Warning! Hot Stuff!" Jordan McBride was delicious, sexy and charming. Just the kind of hero we all dream about in our fantasies. The sexual tension sizzles from the minute Cait and Jordan meet and the captivating romance of the story is enough to sweep a reader off her feet.

With VALENTINE FANTASY and her previous book, THE SEDUCTION OF SYDNEY, Jamie Denton has displayed a rich talent for writing funny, unforgettable romances that are filled with a wonderful cast of characters and bone-melting love scenes. The dialogue is easy to follow and Ms Denton's storytelling style is a joy to read.

The plot was well thought out and beautifully executed. Ms Denton followed it up with an enticing and delightful story that has an all too sweet and predictable finale.

VALENTINE FANTASY is a wonderful contemporary category romance and fans of Jamie Denton will definitely want to keep this book on their shelf!

Jamie Denton has written a great story about FBI agent Jared Romine, who has been framed for a double murder. He's been on the run for three years, but now his ex-lover, Justice Department attorney Peyton Douglas, is also implicated in the crimes. With the two of them on the run, romance is sure to be rekindled as they try to clear their names in the high level conspiracy.

While the romantic sections did live up to Blaze standards, there were very few of them in the book. With the amount of time Jared and Peyton spent on the run, you would have expected much more to happen between the two of them.

Seduced by the Enemy has an intricate plot that advances at a steady pace and rises to an exciting climax. It seemed, however, that you were reading a Harlequin Intrigue or Intimate Moments book rather than a Blaze. Definitely recommended.

It reads like a Intrigue series novel...a lot of suspense...no SEXY stuff till the 2nd half of the book...BUT it is still good writing...so now I have to go back and read SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY.

I loved this book!

While maintaining the blazing heat factor, seasoned Harlequin author Jamie Denton has penned a textured romance with heart and fuses it with intricate suspense. Seduced by the Enemy focuses on Jared Romine, rogue ex-FBI who is linked to the murder of his partner Jack Dysert and aide to hot-shot senator Martin Phipps. When Peyton Douglas, his cherished ex-flames gets embroiled in a scam to suggest that she is fraudulent of pocketing the money that Jared was rumoured to have taken, he steps in after a 3-year hiding to save both of their lives. Passion sears between the lovers but it is the exquisite tenderness that makes this romance exceptional. Peyton braves through a thwarted pregnancy and wrestles with mistrust, insecurity and a proposal from an amorous suitor when she obviously has feelings for Jared. There is passion and complexed emotions which touches real feelings. Despite the hot melting sex, it is Denton's sincere characters that makes this short read devastating in its scale.

I have been burned by the Blaze Queen! At least one of them. And, my Romance reading friends, this is a good thing! Whew...Jamie Denton knows how to light a fire no holds barred. I dove in not knowing what to expect from my first Harlequin Blaze. I figured on hot, but got an inferno! She gives us a daring character accused of a double murder for a hero in Jared Romine. And who is among those accusing him? Peyton Douglas, his soul mate. As a matter of fact, she is the one who turned him in. What's that you say? His love, his soul mate, his life's desire turned on him. Yep. That's what I said.

Peyton Douglas is a young lawyer with trust issues who fought long and hard for the life she finally has. A life where she is safe. Jared is an ex-FBI agent on the run. Has been on the run for three long years, ever since Peyton turned him in. But those who are after him know his weakness. His women. They have already killed one that he loved and are now trying to use Peyton to draw him out. However, Jared is one step ahead of the mysterious them and kidnaps Peyton before they can cause any permanent damage. Not only does he have to protect her from the murderers who framed him, but has to win her trust. A task that may be harder to accomplish than proving his innocence while on the run.

During his long absence, Peyton agrees to marry someone else and sports the diamond to prove it. She is sure that her fiancé is just what she needs to keep her safe, comfortable, and happy. A reasonable, respected man who is career oriented and climbing the ladder of success with little stumbling, Leland Atwood would not abandon her in the throes of emotional trauma. He'd be steadfast and a sure thing. He would be IF Jared hadn't shown back up in her safe, happy little world. Now she has to choose between a "beige" relationship with Leland or one that is "red hot sexy" with Jared. But "red hot sexy" has lots of potential for emotional destruction whereas "beige" assures her of sound emotional well-being. Having been emotionally destroyed once in her young life causes her to lean heavily towards the safe, "beige" life that Leland offers.

While she makes up her mind, gun-slinging, senator-corrupted, FBI-agents-gone-bad are hot on their trail, narrowing the chances to better than good that Romine and his ladylove will be stopped before the two fugitives let the truth out of the bag. The truth that will clear both of them and just may allow them to start fresh. Whether they will be starting fresh with each other or not remains to be seen, at least until the very end.

In the midst of all this being-hunted-down angst, these two can't keep their hands, or tongues, or . . . well, they can't keep away from each other. Things happen on over-stuffed chairs by the fireplace that will make your scalp tingle. Oh, and there's a few bedroom scenes, too. I must say, I learned a thing or two about the possibilities of sexual pleasure from these two characters. One of those things is that the possibilities are endless, when you are being seduced by the enemy.
