Without a doubt, Matt Damon is one of the most exciting new faces to have recently entered the Hollywood scene. This book does a terrific job of balancing the cultural influences that created Mr. Damon's charming sensibility, with an insider's take at Matt's past, present and future projects. Whether you are shopping for an adoring child, or you find yourself strangley curious about this rising new star, I whole-heartedly reccomend this "perfect" summer read.

I think Matt Damon is a great influence on young adults. Any one who can write like him, act like him, and be so all together charming has my vote! Yeah, Leo's cute, but his head is way up in the clouds! And he can't write like Matt!! I loved this book, I also bought Golden Boy;a biography and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck;on and off screen I recomend them all!!

This is a great story--a tale about guys in their early twenties living in working-class Boston. One of them, Will, just happens to be a genius, with a photographic memory. He is also an abused orphan who doesn't trust anyone but his friends and seems content to do construction and janitorial work. When an M.I.T. professor of mathematics catches him solving a nearly impossible proof one evening after all of the students have left, he is intrigued.
After Will gets into trouble with the law, which is a fairly common occurrence for him, the professor steps in and agrees to work with him and get him counseling if the judge will agree not to send him to jail. Will reluctantly agrees, not really willing to see a therapist. It proves to be difficult to find a therapist who can handle Will; he has read their books and mocks them during therapy sessions. Finally an old college friend of the professor's has a breakthrough and becomes someone that Will can trust.
This is a story about a person learning to take risks in relationships and with his future. The movie was excellent, and the screenplay is very interesting. I hadn't realized that a screenplay has so little direction; it gives me new respect for a film's director as well as the actors and actresses who create three-dimensional characters out of the words ont he page.

Having seen the movie and read the screenplay, I can never fail to understand how something like this was ever taken seriously. There is absolutely nothing original here; the writing is shallow, tedious and unbelievably hackneyed and I marvel that such mediocre talent could be so hyped, so gushed over and can only wonder how such 'writing' could ever have been made into a movie let alone win an Academy Award! It baffles me completely. Perhaps the powers-that-be in Hollywood owed something to Robin Williams.....
Incidentally, there is much whispering in industry circles that Affleck and Damon didn't really even write this screenplay. Instead it was the result of a collaboration between Gus Van Zant, Robin Williams and Rob Reiner. As a matter of fact much of William's comedic dialogue was improvised by the master himself, yet authorship was, strangely, still credited to Affleck and Damon - probably for shrewd publicity and marketing reasons. The fact that these two have not produced any screenplays worthwhile since tends to verify suspicions about their real and minimal contributions to Good Will Hunting.

This book offers important perspectives from those most impacted by the policies through which so-called "progress" was made. The ghost of genocide and vicitimazion of people for the benefit of a few continues to haunt us and learning about it is an important first step in overcoming this sad legacy of non-inclusion and domination.

This book presents a decidedly bottom-up perspective on American history, and it'll make you question the motivations and hidden messages behind everything you learned in school. Zinn's book is particularly suited to book-on-tape - it's got a lot of detail, but the writing is clear and concise. You might be surprised at how great of a reader Matt Damon is! He brings just enough character to the voices of the primary sources. If you have a long road trip coming up, I would recommend this book to spark deep political thought and conversation.

Howard Zinn has done what few historians have done in his book. To look at America with the eyes of those who have lived through the periods he describes. The picture is an attempt not to paint a picture that makes something look good or look bad but the desire to see what people living in the US have felt as events both good and bad. This is a couragious depiction of real people, often people who have been seen by otheres as less real than they really were. Mr. Zinn wants his readers to see the feelings of these people as real. I know of nothing more important than people be seen as real. The receint events in New Orlenes have once again shown the necessity to see all people as existing as much as oneself exists. I commend Mr. Zinn for the extensive research and selectivity he has accomplished in this magnificent work. I do not say that I agree with all he says but he says it and one can get a larger idea of what has been with the hope that we will use that knowledge to have true kindness come to be seen as the trough thing it is.
Simply stated, the Best History Book Ever Written

This impecably researched, easy to read and understand writing style tells the truth about our Nation and the world.
The sickness of how the propaganda loaded, revisionist history that has infiltrated our schools have had a horrific effect to the literacy rate, knowlege of geography, history, lack of voting and involvement in our democracy.
All textbooks in schools are from the point of view of the "Ruling Class" and dominant culture and DO NOT represent reality or the lives of 99% of the people.
Zinn's book tells the story of the citizens of America, rather than painting stiff, cardboard cutouts of our political leaders who come off like divine Kings and Queens.
Most of the books is told from actual quotes, diaries, government documents, legal documents and words of people from that era.
The shocking reality of what happened to the soldiers who were abused and unpain in the War of Independance. The fact that onlyu large land owners could participate in the creation of our government or even HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE, is amazing.
The importants of uprisings of American's NEVER MENTIONED in our history books, like the the revolt of non-landowners or renters, the Civil War veterens who come out without getting their entire pay and wind up in debters jail.
The fact that our "founding fathers" were wealthy landowners who "owned" other humans (slaves).
The facts that the revolutiony war WAS NOT about freedom, but about Landowners who rebelled against paying taxed to England. For 90 plus percent of Americans, the Revolutionary war was of no consquence to them. But, most of the colonists, the non-landowners were bullied, and forced into service.
The writings of Thomas Jefferson which were clear about his distain of the evils of Christianity and importance of keeping religion out of the government, specifically Christianity.
The best, with flawless research and references.
Howard Zinn is a TRUE patriot and American.
I hope that the reality of this would allow our citizens to become active in keeping a democracy and creating a nation of VALUE DRIVEN citizens and a desire to make the world a better place to live.
Everyone really needs to read the quotes from Columbus's diary and letters. They really are sickening, but show the truth.
How can anyone "discover" America, when there are people and fully evolved cultures already in existance. The Europeans infected our Americans with lies, slavery, destruction of their culture, rape, murder, stealing of native American's resources and having total disrespect for anything but their anglo-Christian culture. The explorers were nothing but a group of organized crime thugs who came to steal and rape.
This book outlines the actions from absolutely "bullet proof" research and documentation.

For some long-forgotten reason, I picked up this book while in graduate school, and was immediately hooked on the spy genre (especially after reading Ken Follett's equally good 'Triple'). Since I was working my way through school with a night job, my hours were precious and I already had an ample supply of reading material, yet I found myself unable to put down this book. The pacing, style (only Chricton ranks as high as a page-turner in my mind), and overall story line make this a classic. Be careful, you'll need to find the time to finish the trilogy.
The only sad part of this is viewers of the movie series will pick this up and be disappointed in how different the storyline ends. The literary antagonist (the infamous Jackal) is a much more compelling villain, but I understand the need to keep things up to date in a movie.
I managed to finish school, but he sure made it a bigger challenge.
Overall, well worth the investment of time. Is anyone else doing it as well these days? I haven't found him/her yet.

So I have just finished this book, and it was incredible. I waited until I had seen all three movies, so now I am reading the trilogy. And having now read the first book, I have to say that the movie was a lot different. Usually that would leave me disgruntled, but the movie was awesome as well. Now I am going to start the Supremacy!

I have read quite a few action/suspense type novels lately and am a pretty big critic of most writers. This one is one of the best I have read. I liked the movie quite a bit too but was happily surprised to find that the book and movie weren't that similar. I like to not be able to predict what will happen next. Several differnt nicely complex plot lines. Fantastic. Highly recommend it.

I can count on one hand the number of books I have not finished once started. This is one of them. The movies were OK so I figured I'd give the book a try. I managed to make it 164 pages and just can't force myself to go on. It's pretty bad that the author can't keep track of what kind of gun is being carried by a given character. First it's a revolver, then a paragraph or two later it's an automatic, then it's a revolver again, all describing the same gun! Even worse, one of the bad guys is described as carrying a long-barreled revolver with a silencer. Anyone at all familiar with firearms knows that you can not silence a revolver! For those not in the know, a tremendous amount of blast and noise escapes from around the cylinder gaps. Can't silence that.
I could go on but I would just be repeating what many of the other 1 and 2 star reviewers have stated.
I'm just glad I bought the book used and am only out a couple bucks.

I could never understand why this film flopped. I saw it opening weekend in the theater and it was packed. Everyone there was really into it. I went back twice more while it was in the theater, and while it was never as full, most of the seats were occupied. And people were just as enthusiastic. It is still great at home, although not as fun. The music expresses what simple words couldn't, it sets the mood. I wouldn't sit around and listen to it away from the movie, but it works. It's really too bad that fox animation went under. I hate the way that Disney "disnifies" every film they get their hands on, and it would have been nice for them to have some competition.

But wondering, the story in the video seem like... it had a little bit different over the movie in theater although when I search in deleted scene, that missing scene had never found.

I've seen where people put this movie down a lot but let me tell you I really enjoyed it. If your one of those people who likes to sit back and pick apart a plot, then any movie is hard pressed to make you happy. If you let yourself be immersed in the universe this movie takes place in, you'll really enjoy it. I am a big fan of the post apocalypse genre and this movie is a refreshing new take on it. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of the movie but it is a good epic space opera worth seeing.

In my opinion, this biography is the best one to date, even though it's from Britain. It goes through Matt's earlier work, like Rising Son and School Ties, up to and including Rounders. It was published in 1998, so it's lacking the newer films that he's done, but if you're a fan of Matt, I'd definitely recommend it.

It's about Ben too! The most interesting aspect of Matt is his childhood, what makes him tick. This book has lots of stuff about Boston and Matt as a little kid. I like it because it's about Ben too. They really are best friends. They've known each other for a long time. People think that Matt and Ben got famous overnight, but they didn't really. They worked really hard and deserve everything that they've accomplished. It wasn't fate or anything like that. They lived on Spam and top ramen for a long time like anybody else. After I read this book I felt like I got to know Matt better as a person instead of just the hotty that he is.

This was a good quick read. But that's mainly due to the fact that every other page is nearly blank and the last half of the book is filmographies. There isn't a lot of new stuff and there are better biographies, but if you're looking for a quick easy read, then this book will do. There's a few small pictures thrown into the middle of book for no reason, but they're okay. The filmographies at the end of the book are probably just an attempt to fill up space, as are the 20 or so little one-sentence facts that take-up one page a piece. If you're looking for a biography with a lot of substance look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a quick easy read then Golden Boy will do. Review by mattdamonfanpage.com.
