A 'must' for any serious Warhol collection

SUPERNOVA: STARS, DEATHS, AND DISASTERS 1962-64 gathers Andy Warhol's works from a narrow period of time, with a focus on Warhol's paintings of disasters, crashes, and more. Essays by Warhol critics accompany this survey of his works in a range of media, providing a visual catalog of his artistic methods and influence and presenting holdings from the Walker Art Center, which began its relationship with Warhol in 1967. ANDY WARHOL/SUPERNOVA accompanies an exhibition but stands well on its own, packing in large-size black and white and color photos from Warhol's works and including the background commentary and criticism essential to understanding them. A 'must' for any serious Warhol collection.

All businesses that value their current customers and want new ones should take note of the "celebrity customer service" model that Eric Wilder shares in this book. It is not only a discussion about customer service but real world applications and action plans to help you implement new systems and procedures that will keep your customers coming back and attract new ones.
Discover how to make a sales team buy in, work together, and create an exciting and memorable shopping experience that goes beyond customer "satisfaction."

If you care about your customers....

I learned that good customer service wasn't an accident at Almaden Valley Nursery. This explained where Eric's philosophy came from, and how it came to be a consistent part of his business.

I left with some very real tangible things I could implement into my business, and some great ways to tell when we are on the right track. The steps to building a celebrity service team aren't hard and the result is a more pleasant workplace for your employees while you are providing real value for your customer.

I have recommended this book to friends, and think it is a very easy productive read for anyone who is in business.

I can relate to her childhood feelings of loneliness and isolation because I was also born the last child from a large family; and I can see how she allowed her childhood to shape her detrimental adulthood.

Courageous, sensitive and truthful.

Carol the youngest of 10 children of the famous Buckley family has given us a detail look at what happens to one's inner self when one is not given the freedom to become whom God intended.

We are not to become replicas of our mother, father, siblings. As a young child, Carol was not given the proper attention by the persons that she needed it from the most, her immediate family. She was well taken care of by her "nanny", cook, chauffeur etc. but she so desperately needed her family.

Carol has given us in her autobiography an account of the past 55 years of her life. Her 2 marriages that both ended in divorce, her special relationship with her sister Maureen and Maureen's untimely death that brought to surface Carol's many deep rooted emotions.

Carol gives us the details of how she overcame deep depression, suicidal tendencies and more importantly how she came "to the still point" of her being and how that "moment" changed her being forever.

A Celebration of American Photojournalism
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2002-01-09
More than just a good-looking coffee table book, and much more than simply a book of sports photography, this is a celebration of American photojournalism in the last half of the 20th century. When I first leafed through it, I was amazed at how many iconic photographs were taken by just one man. Leifer has a gift, and we are fortunate that he is willing and able to share it with us. Highly recommended.

More than just a sports book

The image on the cover of the book is perhaps the most famous sports image of the 20th Century. While at Sports Illustrated, Neil made incredible pictures by capturing the "decisive moment" in sports both on and off the field. But many people do not realize that Leifer also covered celebrities and political events for other publications. This book is long overdue and should place Leifer on everyone's top ten list of great documentary photographers. A must have for photography book collectors and popular culture fans.

Outstanding Work
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-20
Much time and research went into this work. Listing almost everyone associated with the film industry who are interred in Los Angeles' cemeteries was an incredible feat. In addition, how the author got the grave sites of celebrities buried in Forest Lawn (Hollywood) and (Glendale) is beyond me! Workers there won't even give out names of those interred. I highly recommend this book.

BEST IN CLASS!

Having read most of the books published re: celeb grave hunting, I can easily say this is the very best. Mr. Ellenberger has managed to consolidate all the positives contained in the books that have preceded this one, added additional information and new entries, and has come up with the ultimate grave hunting guide for the Los Angeles area. He has clearly researched and verified his information and relied on additional information supplied by various knowledgeable contributors. Information includes dates and locations of birth and death, grave location (cemetery, section and plot numbers), cause of death, and identifiable screen role(s). The only possible shortcomings are lack of cemetery maps and pictures of the deceased, and these are probably due to the high publishing costs associated with these features. The one thing that I really liked was the addition of many fine actors who never attained star status such as Harry Davenport and Sara Allgood. This is absolutely great for all diehard movie fans out there.

Hi,
I got this book as a gift and I am really enjoying it! The recipes are diverse and it is fun to see what my favorite celebs are making (or having their chefs make!) in the kitchen. Try the French Toast, Salmon Hash and the Mousse Tart-delicious! The book is easy to read and keep propped up in my kitchen. I recommend as a gift for any cook or celeb lover, but also to keep in your own kitchen!

Good cause & a fun beginners projects too!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-16
I own both Celebrity Scarves 1 & 2 and I'm having fun with both of them. I'm just a beginner so the fact that there are a lot of garter stitch scarves is fine with me. Knitting is very addictive and these books make it even more so! I find it incredibly relaxing...very yoga like...and you can make the easy projects while you're watching a movie too. I suspect it will take me awhile before I advance to sweaters so I see a lot of scarves in my future! They're also great gifts! I've made scarves for my Mom, for friends, for some of the staff at one of my doctor's offices, for the UPS guy....once you start, you can't stop! Unfortunately, I do have expensive taste in yarn...I lean toward cashmere! If you have a beginning knitter that you need to buy a gift for, these books are perfect. You could even pick out the yarn needed for one of the beginning projects, along with the needles, etc and you'll have a gift that is a huge hit! Enjoy!

Good book for patterns, good book for the coffee table

This book has some pretty interesting paterns for scarves made by celebrities. This book also has some bio information on the people who made the scarves, and proceeds go to benefit a great cause. A lot of the yarns featured are not easily found locally, so substitutions may be required. All in all, I would recommend this book.
