I have had no problem with the CD it self, and the music is wonderful. It's like reliving the movie every time you listen to it. Every time you listen to the music you find more reason to love the movie.

This soundtrack was amazing! I don't think it is possible for any producer to have done a better job. It has all the songs that are in the movie, and each one is played exactly how it was in the movie as well. My favorite part is how there is some dialogue between the verses and lyrics of the songs. It really is like a quick summary of the movie.
I absolutely love it!

This is one of the most awesome soundtrack sheet music books I've ever seen! All of the pieces sound like they do in the movie, and the grand staff notes are close enough to the original melody to sing along to. The key is hard to get used to, but once you do, it's amazing!!

This book is a challenge even for the most experienced pianist. His music is fun and intricate and complex. I recommend this book for anyone who is not only a fan of the movie but a fan of excellent music who is looking for music that takes their knowledge of music theory to the max.

I love all things tim burton, especially the soundtracks to his movies. danny elfman is possibly the most talented composer in hollywood and it baffles me that not all his music is sold as a piano vocal series, since it is so very suitable for just that. consequently I was thrilled to find this little book, and I was not disappointed. it is simple enough for a novice to play along based on the chords, and yet sophisticated enough for the more experienced pianist to get a lot out of the instrument. as has been noted elsewhere, the guitar chords are indeed systematically drawn every tim they occur, which to me is a fantastic idea. every tim burton/danny elfman fan who likes singing and playing the piano should own a copy of this!
the second I got my hands on it, I went directly to my piano and did not get up for the next four hours. that's how great it is to be your very own nightmare before christmas soundtrack!

I'm not musically gifted like the rest of my family; I only took 4 years of violin to get out of gym, but wouldn't know what to do with one if I picked it up today. But I do know that this music/lyric book has every song from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie. anyone that's watched it KNOWS that every song is hauntingly, melodiously beautiful, just like any other Tim Burton production. Even if you can't carry a tune or don't know the words, you have to try to sing along. But with this musicbook you can! -at least know the words -you know best if you can actually sing... I would highly recommend this product! Kudos to the Hal Leonard Corp for making it available! :)

There's lot of stuff in this tiny cheap book. It's obviously not aimed at orchestrators but more at the movie fans who expect some nice evenings, singing these excellent tunes.
I give this book a 5 because of the guitar chords which are systematically drawn each time they occur. It wasn't expected, especially as we're dealing with a piano vocal song book, so: 2 thumbs up=5 stars !

If you are looking for a book with a little bit of insight into the creation of the Corpse Bride film, this is good choice. Nice selection of production pictures and concept artwork with a good description of the processes involved.
The book covers puppet making, music creation and a small scale time line of concept to film.

TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE: AN INVITATION TO THE WEDDING is the lush movie book accompaniment to tie into the release of TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE, and includes a foreword by Burton, details on his film, storyboards, his drawings, and more. It arrived too late for more timely holiday mention but the movie is certain to be a hit for many months and any viewer or would-be viewer will continue to find TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE an excellent guide to the movie.
If you love the film, you shoudn't miss the book.

I bought this book several months ago in a local bookstore. The photos and images in the book attracted my attention almost immediately, although at that time I've only heard of the film but haven't watched it. Like other behind-the-scenes books, it shows how they produced the film in every detail, from beginning to end. I especially like the concept sketches and the black humor. The production process also provides a good reference to the making of stop-motion animation, which makes this book unique. If you like the the film or stop-motion animation, I believe this book won't disappoint you.

I am a student of the great art of stop-motion-animation. For those interested in this pioneering addition to the art form or just interested in what it takes to write plan and pull off a feature length animation this is a great book. Lots of colot photos, concept sketches and digital concept art as well as the writing itself tells a lot about what it took to pull it all together. Well worth it to own as a reference and the coffee table.

Hmm, where do I begin... I LOVE JACK SKELLINGTON first off, and this book is SOO COOL! And yes, you can probably tell I'm a teenage girl so far... but yeah, I read this book when I was really little (same with watching the movie) and at first it scared the crap outta me (hey, I was little). But when I got older, I started to realize that this thing kicked @$$. It made me laugh, made me smile, made me cry a little, everything! Best holiday book ever! It's not really a little kid book, but it's not too scary either. The scariest part about it are the drawings, just cuz they're so abnormal. Also... if you haven't seen the movie, make sure you do. But all in all, this is probably my favorite book. GOOD JOB TIM!

I bought a copy of this book a couple years back, only to find my young nephew (only 5 back then) reaching to look at it often when he visited. I've now decided to buy him his own copy of this book, while it's still in print, because I see this movie's "legend" continuing to grow as an annual Halloween classic. Such is the unique and wonderful world of Tim Burton; his style often does not catch on immediately, but it slowly finds its way beyond "cult" viewing and into the hearts and minds of mainstream audiences. This book features a generous offering of pre-production designs (including many of Burton's own drawings) and behind-the-scenes photos, which are fun to look at again and again. A beautifully illustrated book, and fun to own

A director named Burton with the first name of Tim
Wrote this tale of a skeleton, tall and slim.
Jack Skeleton is the name of this "hero"
He comes with a ghost dog known as Zero.
As the title implies two holidays meet
Do we say "Merry Christmas" or "trick or treat?"
Jack wants to spread Christmas and help Santa out
But he's a little misguided when he takes the toy route.
The kids are a bit surprised by Jack as S. Claus
Some of his Christmas traditions would make anyone pause.
Before you read this give the movie a look
The film helps the reader make sense of the book.
Illustrated with drawings instead of claymation
This book still creates quite a sensation!

I love my Stick Boy and Match Girl figurines that come with this set, but I ran into one little problem when I was going to send one of the cards to a friend--the cards don't fit in their envelopes. With a little cramming, I finally got it in there, but it was bow-shaped because the card was just a bit too large for the tiny envelope. This is a unique and fun product, but I don't recommend it if you are actually planning to use the cards.

This book is dreamlike and hysterical... with illustrations done by the author. It takes place in some kind of slouching Southern Gothic otherworld and reminded me of a cross between Flannery O'Connor and a Tim Burton film if it was scripted by THE KIDS IN THE HALL. I first read a description of this book because I liked the cover. It came in the mail on one of those rare days where I didn't have anything to do. I sat down to start reading it and was finished a couple hours later. It's one of those unique books that has a logic all its own and, this being the case, is one I will come back to over and over again because no other book can give you an experience quite like that. It is also, very much, an "all ages" type of book. Any child over ten could probably read it and understand it and find it amusing and adults can read it without feeling like a child.
Bizarro For the Whole Family

Review Date: 2007-12-18
Bizarro fiction is a great new genre that, in some cases, seeks to employ the methods of classic children's fare while juxtaposing it with more mature themes. Where this makes excellent reading for the kid in all of us grown-ups, it's not generally the kind of thing you can read to your child as a bedtime story. Enter Andrew Goldfarb.
"Ballad of a Slow Poisoner" is the tale of Millford Mutterwurst and his slowly erasing body. Deciding that a trip is the only sensible thing to ease his troubles, Millford sets out in Lumino, a slightly anthropomorphic hot air balloon, with his recent acquaintance Slub Glub in tow. Slub Glub, in turn, brings along a green-tinted translucent monkey. The rest of the story follows the trio's shuttle across the vastness of the heavens to their eventual return to Millford's first "love", the sea.
Goldfarb makes astounding use of alliteration. In this respect, it reminded me of a Sesame Street book I had as a child which included a story concerning one Darling Dora and her Dainty Dimpled Neck. If you'd like your youngster to grow up addicted to the beauty of language, give him or her this book early on.
The illustrations are also a sight to behold. They perfectly illustrate several of the bewitching scenes and are not all that far removed from Edward Gorey while still exhibiting their own distinct style.
So, if your a fan of Bizarro and would like to get your children hooked, Andrew Goldfarb's "Ballad of a Slow Poisoner" is definitely the way to go.

I bought this book based on the recommendation from the previous reviewer that I would like it if I enjoyed Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. Well he was right! This book is wonderful and charming. I would also draw a comparison to Edward Gorey's work in that it has a slightly Victorian Era feeling to it. I am a fan of sweet things that are slightly on the macabre side and am always on the lookout for new and interesting finds. This little gem deserves to get some credit. I would love to see more work by this author.

When Millford Mutterwurst, a door-to-door rock salesman, discovers that his elbows are flattening, his world takes a rapid turn into strange and unexpected territories. Meeting Slub Glub ("He had been born in a frying pan, raised by goat-herders, and employed as a door-knocker.") and a translucent monkey aren't even the beginning of his problems, or his adventures, for that matter. From people who live in the sun to a disastrous encounter with a Speckled Hornswallow, Ballad of a Slow Poisoner is a slightly spooky comic delight. Much like Tim Burton's films, it's a children's tale for an adult audience. The inclusion of songs makes it even more reminiscent of Burton's work, and I'm confident that nearly everyone who enjoyed Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride will not regret picking up Ballad of a Slow Poisoner. Anyway, where else can you read about a guy named Millford who is married to the sea? Highly recommended to anyone seeking a bizarre supplement to spice up their teatime.
