After I finished the first couple of chapters I was amazed at what I read. I never thought that could happen to anybody. You have to find out for yourself. Just read it, and you will see!

I was recommended this book by a very good friend and even though I can honestly say that I cannot stand Brosnan as Bond, I thought at least I'd do a little background reading on the man. What a delightful surprise. A witty, urbane, wonderfully researched book on a greatly misunderstood character actor. I thought York Membery's painfully funny description of the death of Brosnan's dog in chapter 2 was the highight for me. I'll look more kindly on Brosnan's future roles in future. I thought some of the photographs were particularly good. I just wish the book could have been longer. I didn't want it to end.

This is by far the best biography.

I can vividly remember how Pierce Brosnan grew up as a child and can only imagine how hard it must have been. The death of his wife Cassandra Harris and all her determination, fight, and powerful quotes about beating cancer really touched me. Also, he is such a great actor and the best James Bond. It is very detailed, and well done. I remember clearly how he felt when he met Cassandra, and how much he meant to her, and how depressed he must have been when she died. He sure had a beautiful heart for what he did. His "long and winding" road to fame, was hard, I can tell by his words. He seems to have a nice family- beautiful people, who are also frequently mentioned (Charlotte, Sean, Christopher, girlfriend Keely, Dylan Thomas (son with Keely.) This is definetly a must read, must see. It is for any Pierce fan!

BOTTLED IN BOND--A COMPENDIUM OF GOLDEN GURU ADVICE
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-29
Overall, an excellent cd packed with good solid advice--motivational and concrete practical. BUT the David Hedison intro was a complete waste of time, and had me yelling "Hellllp Meeeee..."
The marketing technique of taking much of the standard golden guru wisdom and spray painting James Bond's image over it, is quite clever. There's not a lot of new stuff here, but all the classic self-help advice is convenient to have in one package.
However, if you are going to call this a James Bond Lifestyle, and give advice of don't drink, don't smoke, don't speed--maybe you are talking the James Bond at his real present age--somewhere in his 90s.
There was a lot more that could have been put in the cds--more specific websites for the kind of stuff that the author recommends you get. Also, there are intelligence related organizations that wannabes can join to rub up their spy image. (I could tell you which ones, but then I'd have to kill you).
Bond, would have been in reality, an intelligence disaster, if he were a case officer. Much too showy, too noticeable. He would be more of the paramilitary type dressed in a tux.
As far as the secret to getting women--watch the films--Bond was charming, but exuded a polite indifference to many of the women--and women HATE indifference--until they are intrigued by it.(Check out Daniel Craig in the train to Montenegro dining car scene in Casino Royale with "the money.")
Spend all your cash on some lady, providing fun travel and entertainment? Sure--AFTER you've gotten to know her, and after you've gotten the sex out of the way, as one of my pals in Denmark used to say. There's plenty of cool stuff to do with the nubile newbies that doesn't cost all that much. (Fashion shows, gallery receptions, trade shows, wine tastings, etc.)
The tips on dressing--YES. Once on a cruise in the Bahamas, I was thinking I couldn't score with a fistful of pardons in a woman's penitentiary, when one night I slipped into a Tux and strutted around the casino, like I belonged there. Scored a home run in less than an hour, and discovered that not all women from Arkansas look like Hillary Clinton. "Fashion helps," as Peter Weller said in "Shadow Hours." (And I look a lot more like Telly Savalas as Blofeld, than I do James Bond). Wanna make your foreign travel even more interesting--contact the trade mission or commercial attache' of the country you want to visit, and get some business leads relevant to your gig before you travel. Not only will you likely get VIP treatment when in country visiting your contacts, you can possibly write off part of the trip on your tax return. Did that when I went to Singapore, and had a grand old time. Anyway, you will enjoy this tape, follow its directions (but caveat credit card spender) and you will benefit. Within 24 hours of listening to the CD, I'm getting results already. Take your gold sovreign and get this program, so Goldfinger won't point a laser beam at your "gun."

so i was already in the mode of a Double 0....buying this CD was all i needed to simply push myself forward into being a Double 0 ( no kills please )...in a way the CD purchase was like M promoting me into double 0 status..listening to it was like i am shifting gears upwards...

Every since i bought the CD set and listened to it, i have already noticed changes in myself. I hit the gym more than usual having lost 10 pounds so far, i have a new 007 watch, no not Omega but a Graham by British masters ( i think each agent should choose their own kind of watch ), i have a gold coin just for that good feeling....etc.

This review might seem juvenile to some readers but you must understand that success is not meant for everyone. You must be a person wanting to want it. badly enough i might add. This CD allowed me to see that and push myself forward into what i knew i always wanted.

I think we all need a little imagination in our lives, makes our days a little more adventurous...

Next year i will vacation at Paradise Island at the Ocean Club ( i already hv their number )...go do some diving, i am tryig to work harder and smarter at work to increase my salary base so i can "maybe" afford an aston martin...its a far fetch goal but not impossible, if anything its so worth the try .. plus other things.

So i hope you will too do something that will improve your life. Remember a lot of people will say you are silly or think you are silly but what YOU think of yourself is more important. i used to always listen to my friends and familly i might add....got me nowhere...so i woke up one day and said i am going to listen to ME....in a year i become the owner of some real estate ( on two continents ), swam with stingrays, started organizing my life together, turned everything into missions, got what i needed from Q branch and already found myself improving etc...

so please dont give up on yourself. You are the best thing that ever happened. And if you have the money to spare, then buy this CD set...its a great motivational tool and maybe the kickstart you need to get up from that couch and do something.

Welcome to double 0. See you in the field. Next year you will find me at the Ocean Club playing cards or drinking a martini, or on the beach..trust me you wont miss that double 0 look...if you do see me, say hello....i would love to meet another double 0.

best...F

This audiobook is not what you might expect. Of course I'm a Bond fan which brought my attention to this in the first place but, Mr. Kyriazi is not telling you to "be" James Bond it's about you, upgrading your lifestyle be it money, dress, girls, overall prosperity using several Bond movie references.
I've listened to it twice in a row on my way to and from work and have actually taken some suggestions I've learned in the "book" and applied to my everyday life.
If you are stuck in a rut and looking for some motivation to "get out" I would suggest getting a copy of this audio book.

I had the book, so I knew about the seriousness of the subject, by a guy that's obviously applied what he is preaching. However, this eight hour marathon of one good idea after another, really took me by surprise. The author's authoritative voice, with support of other actors, made going from one disc to the other a real trip, that seemed to cover every possible way to get ahead imaginable. From now on, I probably won't be satisfied with other self-help audio-books, if they only have one speaker, no effects, or music. This audio-book got me spoiled.

I was already using the ideas from the book, but seems like there's double the info, in the 8 CDs. Anyway, double the energy for sure. I like the way each disc is marked for each topic, and unlike the author figured, I didn't skip to the disc on Bond girls first. I listened from the beginning. I'm not a gambler, but his 'always win in the casino' made sense to me, anyway, fun to hear it. And I'll certainly use valet parking if I go to Vegas, after hearing the funny example of parking yourself with your Bond girl.

David Hedison's introduction surrounded by Bond music really kicks it off. I'm thinking he could do his own motivational book, especially for wannabe actors. But for wannabe Bond's, I guess, this would be the course needed. I give it two thumbs up.

I'd been fortunate enough to find the book and original cassette version of this program on amazon years ago. I listened to the tape so many times while driving that I wore it out. This 8 CD set has a lot more information than the original. You can tell Mr. Kyriazi has continued to learn and practice his techniques.

From the introduction by David Hedison (Felix Leiter in two of the James Bond movies) through the "Clearing the Subconscious Mind" session on the last CD, this set places a powerful set of tools in your hands. Tools you can use to improve your lifestyle.

Since I first listened to Mr. Kyriazi's program, I've upgraded my life signifcantly. I found my "Bond girl," got my first novel published, and drive a new Mustang GT. I don't know if any of these things would have happened if I hadn't discovered (and implemented) these well-thought out and explained techniques. Thanks, Paul!

I can't recommend this strongly enough to anyone who is interested in improving his lifestyle.

Worthwhile Profile of Hollywood's Leading Irishmen

Review Date: 2001-12-10
_Hollywood Irish_ is a fantastic collection of interviews and photographs of six handsome and talented actors: Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, Stephen Rea, Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn and Patrick Bergin. The simple introduction provided by Áine O'Connor sets the mood for the rest of the book well. As she mentions, the interviews do reveal insightful, private information: "Liam Neeson reveals how he considered leaving acting and how he found the confidence to continue; Pierce Brosnan, simply and openly, shares the painful story of his wife Cassie's death; Stephen Rea discusses the relationship between acting and politics; Aidan Quinn talks about the Irish identity and its many paradoxes; Patrick Bergin reveals the temptations of an actor's life and the difficulties of doing love scenes; Gabriel Byrne tells us about the risks and illusions that surround fame." In a nutshell, that's the book. Each actor discusses his beginnings, both in life and as an actor. Each discusses, in some capacity, how being Irish has impacted him. Each actor's profile comes with several b/w photos from childhood, movies and family collections. At the end, one can find each actor's filmography. The only complaint I would have regarding the book is that the material is dated (only current to 1997) and I wish an updated version could be compiled. That criticism aside, though, this is certainly a title worth owning.

Insightful interviews.

Aine O'Conner manage to capture the cadences of the various actors very well. While reading the text, I could almost hear the men speaking their words. I suspect that she didn't edit the tapes very much, save for verbal pauses (the usual "uhs" and "you knows") and for length. Ms. O'Conner also included several photographs (many were candid) that were sprinkled throughout the various sections.

While Ms. O'Conner asked many insightful questions, she didn't follow through on many. Indeed, at times I was a little disappointed that she failed to follow up on specific points; however, that point is trivial compared to the overall effort of the book.

If you are a fan of any or all of the actors listed, or simply are curious to see how contemporary Irish actors are dealing with the joys and disappointments of Hollywood, then you should enjoy this book.

Great Look at the Lives of Some of Hollywoods Finest Actors

This book provides a facinating, indepth journey into the lives of six very capable and successful actors. Many humourous and sometimes tradgic tales of life in Ireland and struggles to make a name for themselves there and in America. Each actor tells of personal hardships that they have battled throughout their lives and how they have created such prominent status in today's Hollywood scene. Each story is spoken first hand which adds to the richness of these beautiful retold memories. This book provides a greater sense of who these men are by recalling tales from childhood, adolecence and adulthood which explain their journeys to becoming the great actors they are.

The art of storytelling

Pierce Brosnan plays a British spy in this film but in a closer-to-reality scenario. No gadgets, no powerful weapons, no Aston Martin's. Okay, he gets to drive a BMW for about 5 minutes, but without the surface-to-air missiles. And fine, he still gets the ladies... Despite the lack of intense action the story is intriguing and clever. Everyone has their own interests in mind and it's amazing and sometimes funny to see what they will say and do to get things to work in their favor. Definitely an entertaining film. The Blu-Ray version is an improvement over the DVD version, but I have seen better quality video in other Blu-Ray releases.

A really stupid flick.

I had back pain, needed to lie down, and decided to look at the local newspaper to see what was on TV. This movie was listed with a 3-star (out of 4) rating, so I picked it to watch. I guess they would have given 3 stars to anything bashing American and British imperialism and its devilish plans, especially against the proud people of Panama (which, if you don't know, is a Central American country, located right where the canal is). There is absolutely nothing in this film to even partially redeem its incredibly silly premise. I first thought that the leading actor was James Woods, but it turned out to be another guy, which put a final nail in the coffin of my opinion. Save yourself the trouble.

Great film......if you have a brain that enjoys thinking.

I'm shocked at how many people disliked this film probably because it requires attention and thought throughout from beginning to end and makes more sense upon second viewing. Intensely layered with a very dry, dark, and often bizarre sense of humor, excellent direction and acting with Pierce Brosnan playing a real scumbag, if you know nothing of political history and backdoor manueverings, this film may make no sense to you, but if you feel comatose being subjected to standard Hollywood crap, you may have fun with this. Put on your thinking cap and enjoy some thick intrigue. And some laughs, if you can "get it."

A Satire on Political Thrillers

Review Date: 2007-08-10
Panama is important for its wide-open banking system (money laundering) and as a way station for drug shipments. An agent from MI-6 in London is sent there to do what they do. (Don't ask if you don't have a need to know.) There is a Savile Row tailor who business is shaky; he needs money quickly. [Could higher-ups be squeezing Harry Pendel, the tailor, to turn him into a source of information?] Harry's custom includes the ruling class of Panama. Andrew Osnard pays 5,000$US for a tour of Panama. This includes a man whose tongue is loosened by liquor.

The poor people are fed up with their oppression by their corrupt rulers, but can do nothing but complain. [As in other countries?] Osnard gathers information on the "silent opposition" in Panama. CIA Director George Bush made Noriega the ruler of Panama. President George Bush ended Noriega's reign with an invasion by US military forces. There is a flashback to show how Noriega's police kept law and order. [They don't tell what is going on now.] The information that Pendel provides is startling, the higher-ups want confirmation in writing. [The conspirators must put something in writing.] The film shows the odd locales used for meetings (a hotel, a dance hall). A strange travelogue indeed! When Harry thinks about quitting Andy threatens to expose and ruin his life.

The film shows how this misinformation rises to the top in an American-British conference. [Do you see the satire here?] The plan is to back the opposition to put a new class in power in Panama. The truth seems to be that any excuse will do as a reason to invade Panama and seize the canal. [An echo of Suez?] Would Ronald Reagan approve? There is a car chase like in other spy stories, but this ends in the weeds. Andy Osnard catches a private jet to Switzerland, he is aided by the British Ambassador. Is this the start of a beautiful friendship? There is a happy ending (which contradicts the main part of this story). Does satire do well at the box office?

Films are the condensed and simplified versions of the novel they are taken from. Sometimes the story is changed, for better or worse.

I must admit I do not share the other reviewers enthusiasm for this movie. It is definitely a B grade production and very corny at times. It is basically a slap stick send up of the 007 movies.

This Blu-Ray edition has a very average video transfer, there is a lot of MPEG compression artifacts visible and blow me down, the sound track is only Dolby Digital 5.0 wheres the HD in that offering?

I've been a fan of Pierce Brosnan since I was eleven years old and watched him twice a day in Remmington Steele, on the USA network sindication. When I spotted this biography in the library, I picked it up and knew it would be interesting reading about one of my favorite actors. I was wrong. This book has got to be one of the most stone boring biographies I have ever read, about anyone. Most of the chapters are a few short pages and tend to snap off facts about Brosnan in a dossiere-type fashion. And the author tends to wander off into writing a full page or two, or three, about other people besides Brosnan (by other people, I mean just about everyone he's ever lived or worked with). These, too, are boring little summaries of fact. It seems unlikely that Brosnan cooperated with the book, as there are only a few short quotes from him, which seem to be taken from other interviews he's given. The author just fails to flesh out a person for his readers. Rather, the reader is offered a book-long resume that will tell them nothing they didn't already know if they are Brosnan fans. I suggest readers skip this book and hope for an autobiography, or at least one that the actor will be cooperating with.

Wait for an Offical Bio!

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Pierce Brosnan fan. I loved him in "Remington Steele". I loved him in "Evelyn". I love him as Bond. I've seen and read every interview I've come across, and was looking forward to reading his biography.

York Membery's statement that the biography is unofficial and was conducted without the direct support of the actor is probaby the biggest understatement I've seen in a long time. After reading the book for a few pages, I flipped to the acknowledgements, where the National Enquirer, Sun, and many other tabloids were listed as helpful sources of information.

Though some parts seem to be true, compared with what Brosnan has said in recent interviews, the majority of it reads like an over-dramatized soap opera. It's not that Pierce's story is bad. His biography, I'm sure, would be immensely interesting to read. However, this book feels like nothing more than a rumor mill of over a hundred pages. Some things that supposedly happened Brosnan has blatantly denied in recent interviews, and this makes me want to take most of what's in it with a grain of salt. Certain suggestions that the book makes seem unreal compared with what has been printed and screened by credible sources, such as Entertainment Tonight.

Honestly, I would have loved to have read a biography about my favorite actor. This, however, is not that. The sleazy suggestions the book makes belong more on the cover of a tabloid than in the biography section of a bookstore. The writing is atrocious, and the sources seem only somewhat credible at best. If you're a Brosnan fan, as I am, I would wait for an official bio to come out - or watch something like E!s "Pierce Brosnan Revealed", which condcted actual interviews with Pierce and his family. Pass on this one. You'll be glad you did.
