I purchased this item for my children, since in reading about this type of viewing exercises-that vewing these 3D stereograms is great to strenthen your eyes-and since the computer is often being used for so many different things. I thought if we had a book of these they could be used in any of our free time when doing them on the computer is not an option. This has worked out well. The kids love the book. The only reason I did not give this rating a five is because the drawings seem so much harder to view than the ones on the computer. My kids have been able to do it alright, but I get too impatient. Perhaps. it is an even better eye exercise done from the book Vs. the computer, but to me they are slighly frustrating.

I love ALL these Magic Eye books! After a while, all you have to do is glance at the picture and you can immediately see the hidden object. You never know what will pop up!

Practice receiving information

What I love most about these books (I have Magic Eye I as well) is how I can practice 'receiving' an image. In order to see the image, you have to be very focused yet very open. You stare at it with soft eyes and readiness, then when your eyes are in the right position and the 3-D image starts to appear, you can't start 'grabbing' it with your eyes or it disappears. You have to be very still and wait and then it's as if someone turns a nob and this crisp picture shows up with amazing depth. It is a mindset that we don't practice much in our busy lives of doing and accomplishing things. A great lesson to be reminded of, showing how easy it is to let the most precious things come to us, if we can be still and present enough to receive and perceive. I look at the pictures at night before I go to sleep, or when I want to 'download' information from my subconscious mind. I know that practicing this 'receiving' muscle helps my intuition. These books are worth every penny!

Keep looking;you'll find it....

This book has been around since 1994 and is still a lot of fun. These 3-D images seem to have reached their peak in the early 90's ;as far as I know anyway.I particularly enjoyed the Forward.Tom Baccei talks about their resident wizard."Some say that although his bulb seems good, his filament is short a few twists." In the words of Wizzy "Life is like a single beautiful butterfly in a gentle swirling snowstorm. When you find your own center, you'll find the butterfly. Then you can hop on and go on a ride forever."
When you've found all the 3-D images, try looking for that butterfly in the snowstorm and enjoy life.

The second book to be read for the new Christian
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-18
The first book to be read is Andrew Murray's AN EXCITING NEW LIFE. This book first points out the difference between the CARNAL, those whom are saved but still indulge to the FLESH and the SPIRITUAL, whom DENY THE FLESH. Then the book focuses on the SELF as something to also be DENIED. Then the book focuses on DENYING THE WORLD as a means to entering peace. The worldly things are to be replaced by THE KINGDOM OF GOD, or being like Christ by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then the book explains our NEW LIFE IN CHRIST by dependence on God in every aspect of our lives and by our DEATH TO SELF accomplished by faith in Christ. HUMILITY, DEATH, and SURRENDER are the marks of a Christian CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST. Then JOY, and FAITH grow in a growing Christian. Mr. Murray ends with the point that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL. By this he means that gradually CHRIST MUST INCREASE WHILE I MUST DECREASE.

In this book Andrew Murray covers the fundamental steps in the Christian walk in a very benifical way if the reader applys what is covered. Should be required reading for any Christian truly wanting to grow in Christ. Murray in his writtings stresses the aspect of the believer being In Christ and out from that position comes all of his living.

For Those who want to Believe what the Word says!

Andrew Murray is one of my favorite Christian authors. I buy, read, and re-read just about all of this books. I recently was trying to decide whether or not to buy this one, and, believe it or not, even the negative reviews made me want to buy it!

There are undoubtably some phoney faith healers in the world today, there have been in days gone by, and there probably will continue to be until the Lord returns, but this book simply exhorts and encourages those who want to believe what the Word of God says about the Lord's power and willingness to heal someone afflicted of a disease.

Murray nowhere tells people not to seek the advice or help of physicians. He does say that when one receives healing by supernatural means without the help of natural remedies, one also receives spiritual blessings that don't accompany a natural cure, and this can and does bring a person into greater dependency (which is good) and trust in the Lord.

The language is very easy to read, the book is divided into 32 mostly very short chapters, the last two chapters are about 7 pages each, the others are 2, 3, or 4 pages. This book is exactly what I was looking for, I'm going to read it and reread it and reread it, and believe that Divine Health is for me, for the purpose of my being able to work for the Lord at His request and bring Him glory!

A Nineteenth Century Faith Healer

I have read a number of books on the subject of sickness, suffering and healing. I was drawn to Divine Healing by Murray's generally good reputation. I found the book disappointing in that Murray simply states the position held by many of today's faith healers and televangelists. Although Murray avoids many of the more outrageous and extravagent claims of those who proclaim a "health, prosperity and happiness" gospel today, the bottom line is that Murray has little use for medical science. If you relay on doctors, you are worldly and unspiritual. If you do not get healed, you don't have enough faith or you have unconfessed sin. Murray fails to answer the question why some of the most godly and faithful Christians in history have succombed to illness and died young in many cases. For example, has Joni Eareckson Tada spent her entire life in a wheel chair because she lacks faith? I found a much more balanced biblical view in books such as "Surprised by Suffering" by R. C. Sproul, and "Disappointment WIth God" by Philip Yancey.

A Good Book, But I Don't Agree

Which Christian perspective on healing is true: faith healing (if you believe enough, God will heal you) or God-will healing (God will heal you if he wants to, even if your faith is only the size of a mustard seed)? Andrew Murray puts forth a scripturally based opinion on this topic in his book Divine Healing.

As a health practitioner, I was very disappointed to find that Mr. Murray believes in faith healing. According to Mr. Murray, "Already the health of our bodies is a fruit of the salvation Jesus has acquired for us. We see also that health as well as salvation is obtained by faith." We are healed in proportion to the amount of faith in our lives, not works. He stated that health practitioners and medications should not be used because they steal from God the opportunity to heal us and show His power. His position seems reminiscent of Christian Science, which forbids vaccinations, medications, and visits to hospitals.

His strong support of faith healing may be due to the state of the church at the time in which he lived. The charismatic movement did not begin until the early nineteenth century, and very few miraculous healings or other signs of the Holy Spirit were seen during Mr. Murray's generation. Many people believed God had the power to do miracles, but they did not have the faith that God wanted to use his power in their lives. Thus teaching faith and healing would be very important to Mr. Murray.

This book does contain small jewels about healing. For example, he states, "One of the chief benefits, then, of divine healing will be to teach us that our body ought to be set free from the yoke of our own will to become the Lord's property. God does not grant healing until He has attained the end for which He permitted the sickness." Until God's purpose for allowing an illness is completed, even the prayer of faith will remain unanswered.

This book is an excellent treatise on faith healing, and even those who don't agree with Andrew Murray's position may find nuggets of spiritual truth in Divine Healing.

This book is not just about healing. It teaches very clearly, taking very many Scriptures that you don't often hear in this context. But it is also about a life of trusting God through and through, growing in trust and seeing God move. Andrew Murray says that we lose a precious opportunity to grow in the Lord by relying on man and the methods in nature, but he does not come across as forbidding going to physicians, but rather as earnestly urging us to go higher in faith, giving us a glimpse of the blessing of wholly trusting in God. And who can get enough of that? I do think that this alone makes this book an invaluable experience.
Though I have been hearing teachings on healing for at least 10 years, the difference with this book is that when reading it, I sometimes feel I am on holy ground. Healing is not cheap, and Andrew Murray takes us on a journey with reverence and depth. You will be deeply blessed.

Every charismatic should read this

As one who has spent some 35 years in charismatic churches - both independent and Anglican - I would say that any charismatic of any denomination or none can save themselves a lot of heartache and confusion by reading this book.

It is written from a sympathetic viewpoint by well-educated and experienced charismatics, and it raises clearly a number of serious doctrinal and practical issues that have plagued the charismatic subculture for years, and offers some solutions.

Its style falls somewhere between popular and scholarly writing, so it isn't a light read, and the book isn't perfect: the chapter on demonology, for instance, makes a few good points but is rife with confused thinking and self-contradiction. But it is certainly a show-stopper in places.

I recommend it highly for charismatics. Nobody else will get much out of it, though.

All three authors have been through spiritual journeys of appreciating the charismatic movement. In this book they present their reflections on the movement. A good and balanced book.

In my opinion, Tom Smail's 1st chapter on "The Cross and the Spirit: Toward a Theology of Renewal" is one of the best articles/messages I've read/listened to as it relates to the pros and cons of charismatic theology. It's worth the price of the book!

Other topics touched on include signs and wonders, demonology, worship, prophecy.

Overall a good book for those interested in the charismatic movement

A reminder of what a blessing it is to pray for others!
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.

This book combines the devotional writings of Andrew Murray with sermon excerpts from Charles Haddon Spurgeon. It offers guidelines on how to lift others up to God for his blessings. "God calls us into a wonderful partnership with himself," to intercede on behalf of others, those in need, those around us and throughout the world. This book shows us Jesus' example of prayer and reminds us what an honor and privilege it is to pray for others. "Pray for one another," James 5:16.

Good book about how God has given us His power after the New Birth to overcome sin and live the Christian Life.

God wants the new Christian to long for the milk of His word so they may grow thereby.

Recommend for new born believers in Jesus Christ.

Andrew Murray writes about the virtue of waiting - being still before God in order to come to know God. Much of his writing is deep and one must focus on what he is saying, but once you do this you will find his writing is rich. The Secret of Waiting encompasses much: Waiting for God to reveal Himself Waiting in prayer Waiting in circumstances When you learn to wait on God you discover how great God is, how immense his love is towards us, how powerful He is and how involved He wants to be in our lives.
