He is a writer that I find myself constantly returning to not merely to gain insight into the particular works in question, but rather to remember the importance of reading literature and poetry in the first place. Tate is one of the best poet's and critics of the 20th century (very much akin to T.S. Eliot in both form and content) but due to his sympathies for the Antebellum South which is heretical in academia, and a growing infatuation with criticism that is divorced from the poetic imagination from which literature springs, Tate is less read than he should be.

If your are just learning cello with a teacher, or on your own, This is the book to buy. It teaches all the basic steps. For example, It shows where the fingers go, It will show you how to bow. If you do not know how to read music, this book will teach you bass clef, which is what you need to know to play cello. This book also has practice songs and will help your learn to play cello step by step. Just keep in mind that this is book one, to advance there are more advanced books as well. I highly recomend this book if you are trying to learn cello.

Cello Book 2 is one of the best cello books that I have. I like it because it gives different country folk songs. It is good for people who have done Book 1.

For anyone wanting to learn about essential oils for horses, this is the book. Easy to read and packed with tons of very detailed information.

This book is very useful to me. It contains three main components that I believe are very vital to good viola playing. The third position, fourth position, and vibrato. Now as all viola players know, if you play in a school orchestra, it is very unlikely that you get to develop those skills. so you're pretty much on your own. I bought the book to teach my self the positions since my strings teacher doesn't cover them. If you played viola past the beginner stage and wonder what you should learn next, this is you pick.

She said it was just what she needed. Not sure how effective it is but her playing has improved :)

This series of methods are used in many school districts to teach beginning strings. Having used them myself, I can testify from experience that everything you need to learn your instrument is here in a graduated path of instruction. I would recommend some basic beginning music theory books to round out your development as a musician. The second book continues on to more complicated rythms and key signatures.
