I have never painted glass before, in fact, Ive never really done any crafts, Im a complete newbie to this whole thing, and this is the first book I bought on glass painting. I can say, I just got it yesterday, and it was so motivating, I already finished my first project today! The instructions are easy to understand, the authors give great tips, and the projects that are included are simple but they dont look simplistic when their done.I cant wait to try the other projects, you dont have to any prior experience to doing glass painting, just an interest and desire to try something new!

Beautiful, easy projects a beginner can handle.

I have read many books aboout glass painting but none as helpful as this one.

The directions are simple and well-illustrated and the lists of materials are very complete.

I am one of those artistically challenged people....this book gave me ideas to use that do not require the ability to draw. I was so motivated when I got it and have tried many of the techniques....incredible.

Thanks, Moira and Lynda...your book is JUST what I needed to release my creativity!

I'm just beginning to learn about Chakras, energy work, and crystals. This was a very straight-forward explanation with colorful pictures; easy to read; easy to use. It probably isn't the best for those who are very knowledgeable about the subject, but for beginners or as a quick reference guide, I would recommend it.

This is one of the funniest books I have seen in a long time. It's just got some hilarious excuses, and it has excuses that people have used on me. It's just a riot to see them all in one place, and, if I ever get in a sticky situation, maybe a good excuse is just what I'll need!

Folks: I read this book in my dentist's waiting room, while waiting for some crown work. The excuses are compartmented in categories: excuses for not having sex, excuses for having sex. Political excuses, criminal excuses, excuses for sinning; not sinning, etc, so you can suit the excuse to the occasion. No offensive words are used, and the book is so hilarious that I laughed through an hour's drilling and shaving and forgot all feelings of apprehension usually felt in the chair. Now that is a powerful soporific to put it mildly, and it did not cost me anything. (Of course, I had to order the book to read the rest of the excuses.)

this is a calendar for any fruits basket manga and anime lovers! especially if yourlike me, slightly obsessed with it. haha! anyways, the pictures are in color and are from the real anime TV series. this is important to know: the art is different from the manga (the book). the artwork was taken from the anime series, not the manga. which, in case you havent noticed or just dont know, isnt as good, detailed, and doesnt show takaya-sensei's true skill. (takaya-sensei is the author). but apart from that, this calendar is the #1 thing any fruits basket fan needs (besides the manga and anime, that is). :D 5/5 stars!!!

A Must Have for Kyo Lovers!

Review Date: 2006-03-28
Not only is this calendar beautiful visually, but it's also very Kyo happy, which makes me, (a Kyo fangirl) very happy. :) I would estimate that 10 out of the 12 months include a picture of Kyo, either as a cat or as a human. No other character has that much coverage in the calendar, not even Tohru, (who I think may be in 8 or 7 out of the 12 months)! I bought this calendar for $1 and you can get it for that amount as well at any Borders Express, Barnes and Noble or Calendar store. If you're a Furuba fan and just want it as a keepsake, don't pay $13 for it. Go to a store and get it for a buck! It's almost April for goodness sake! :)

I bought this calendar today at the mall for about 7 dollars since they were having a 50% off sale. It is by far a great looking calendar and I'm so lucky to have bought it since there were only 2 left at the store I got it from!
The pictures inside are from the anime of the series--not the manga...neitherless the art is great and depicts some of the hilarious scenes from the show. Each month also has a mini-picture on the bottom that deals with a holiday that takes place during the month or something related to the main picture above. A tiny picture of a Sohma in their zodiac form is also on each month's page. The inside cover of the calendar has a brief description about the history of the manga and anime series which I thought to be interesting to read. Pictures are glossy. All I can say is that this calendar is beautiful! Reccommended to any fan of the Fruits Basket anime or manga (I love both! ^__^).

Munchkin Fu is a great variation on the near-classic Munchkin gameplay.

You battle your munchkin warriors (yakuza, samurai, monk or ninja) against hordes of demons, Gaki and other monsters and collect heaps of treasure and weapons along the way.

The game is fast-paced, VERY varied (and funny too), and easy to set up and play. It's just two card decks and one dice. Simple!

I'm taking off one star just because it's got a fairly steep learning curve. There are a lot of rules, and every card in the deck has it's own set of rules to follow. It can be very overwhelming for a new player... but it's interesting enough to stick with it, and after your first game, it's easy to plan strategies and keep up with the rules and gameplay.

Another item to note is that most Munchkin decks can be combined. ie. you can use your Munchkin Fu decks with your regular Munchkin decks, or other Munchkin games. Rules for combining decks are included.

Not just for boys

I first got introduced to the original Munchkin game only about a month ago through my boyfriend, and I fell in love. Soon after I had to have my own set and decided on Munchkin Fu. Good choice! It requires a little bit of strategic thinking, but thats what I love about the game. And this particular set is great bc we all love those silly kung fu movies, and this game is like being in your very own kung fu movie...not really, but it is still a lot of fun.

I was introduced to munchkin about 4 years ago. I bought it soon after and have played in hundreds of times! It is the greatest party game (for 4 people unless you have the expansions, then about 4-12). I personally own Muchkin (original) and Munchkin: Unatural Axe (1st expansion pack) I am now looking to purchase Star Munchkin and Munchkin Fu. I have played all 3 of these versions and not one is any less fun than the next! I guess it's all about preference. If you have ever played Munchkin you'll know what I am talking about!!!! ENJOY any of these great game!!!

If you think of golf while at the office, in the car, on the can; if you perform practice swings whenever you are sure you will not hit a wall, furniture or another person; if you dream of playing every course that has been mentioned just barely favorably in print, you will love this book. I saw myself and every golfer I have ever met in this book. And I couldn't help but laugh at most of those golfers that Owen met including himself sometimes. I also felt much envy for the courses he was able to play especially in the UK. He moves from subject to subject as smoothly as a putt on the number 1 green on the first day of the Masters. This book brings an understanding to the game for hackers that you don't get from watching pros. Loved it.

The central book in this series Lifemanship:Some Notes on Lifemanship with a Summary of Recent Research in Gamesmanship is a classic for anyone nerous about social encounters. You know the type, the ones who are always suspecting that everyone else is scrutinizing their every word and gesture. Well, according to these books, they are. There is a defense though (and a way to make those others who share the anxiety still more worried). This is one of those that is a good laugh, but not ENTIRELY facetious.

On the Art of Being Up, and Putting Others Down

Review Date: 2008-08-05
If your knowledge of British humour begins and ends with Monty Python, or if you think Austin Powers really is British, then this book will be an eye-opener for you. Where the Pythons provide an in-your-face, broad, loud, slapstick experience, Stephen Potter is exquisitely dry and understated. He sets about on the thankless and nearly impossible task of teaching us perfectly ordinary people how to lord it over our peers. Or betters, for that matter. Doctors, for instance, assume a state of instant authority and dominance by the simple act of having us remove our clothes first thing. How to counter this age-old tactic? Arrange for a female acquaintance to call you as soon as you're starkers, and engage in a knee-slapping, ribald conversation. Any doctor will have a hard time meeting your eyes after that call! A salesman should never rush a pen into his client's hand, hoping he'll skip the fine print. Instead, read out loud the most obfuscatory phrases ("whereas the party hereinafter called the copyholders shall within the discretion of both signatories ..."), and have a shared laugh as you both try to figure out what they can possibly mean. It's good form to then pat your pockets, looking in vain for a pen. Done properly, the client will offer his own pen, which of course you'll take home with you.

If you're not used to reading the Queen's English, you'd better have a dictionary (preferably the O.E.D.) close at hand. Despite the passing of half a century, some of these ploys and gambits will be fresh and viable today. Mind you, I should avoid any driving advice given by Plaste, tempting though it may be. Though if you're afraid of heights, then the Art of Not Rockclimbing will suit you to a "t". This is all brilliant stuff, though the connoisseur will prefer the all-in-one volume, "The Complete Upmanship: Including Gamesmanship, Lifemanship, One-Upmanship, Supermanship." Highly, highly recommended.

Potter caqptures the essence of British humor. He wrote circa 1950 and was a master at capitalizing on observations for the purposes of gaining an edge in the most humorous of cicumstances. The British understatement and preoccupation for the unimportant things in life is the starting point for Potter to describe how life should be lived. From how to decorate ones office, how to walk in a museum, how to properly answer the telephone, to what to wear for golf has been reduced to a science so that the other person will ultimately feel uncomfortable and off balance. If one can possibly think British, then this book may be one of the funniest books ever written.

As a high school youth this book was my introduction to subtlety. And as a kid in Pittsburgh I had much to learn on this subject. One would hope that in today crass atmosphere such ploys are still advantageous but I doubt it. In fact I'll wager that there is not one person in a thousand who can identify this book as the source of the popularity of the word "ploy" although the word is widely used. Read it, it's fun.

I was introduced to Order of the Stick about a year ago and read the comics religiously. Rich Burlew has a wonderful sense of humor, and I've come to fall in love with the characters.

The one drawback is for people not familiar with Dungeons and Dragons (like myself) some of the jokes fall very flat. However, there is enough humor throughout the comics to keep it going even when you're wondering what the heck they're talking about with Chaotic Good and twelve sided dice.

This is the story of six travelers who are ... well, traveling. Of course, once one goal is accomplished another follows and so on. Their characters complement each other nicely and there's romance and magic and swordplay, all the integral parts of an epic story. I definitely recommend the books.

I've been following the comic from the website [...] and it is absolutely hilarious! I can't stop laughing! You definitely need to have a basic understanding of how D&D or other gaming systems work in order to get most of the jokes. I don't really care for the game, and though I've only played a few times, I get a lot of the jokes and it just really entertains me.

I highly recommend it! Check out the website if nothing else!

Over the years, I've read a number of online comics. I've also read a good many gaming (roleplaying) based comics. Order of the Stick is one of the few that have enough humor, engaging characters, and storyline to draw me (no pun intended) back to read and reread.

I have heard the art could be better, but to be honest, I think the art style is part of what makes the comic. It's simplistic and very 'cookie cutter' in form, but Burlew manages to eek out very individualistic characters, villains and monsters.

In short, Order of the Stick is downright hilarious with enough intelligence to be worth rereading and enough jokes that it has yet to get old (I've read the 200+ strips featured on the OotS site, plus the run that is currently in Dragon Magazine). It will be finding a place on my shelf alongside Calvin and Hobbes.

Burlew's parodies of role-playing and fantasy are spot-on. His comedy is spectacular, and he has developed the characters so you CARE about these stick-like squiggles (okay, so the art could be better). Character-development works, but its the comedy that slays me, I laughed til I sprayed milk out of my nose! Though I don't remember drinking any milk that day.... hope I didn't rupture something.

If you are looking at this book most likely you are all ready a fan of Penny Arcade. If you are a fan and wondering why you would buy a book containing strips freely available in the Penny Arcade archives, I will tell you that Tycho has, as with the first four volumes, gone back and written new commentary for all the strips in the book. As Penny Arcade fans know, a great part of the Penny Arcade experience is enjoying the strips again through Tycho's commentary on the thought process behind the strip and/or the events that led to it. There is a section in the back which includes sketches made on various convention table tops from across the years which is fun bonus material as well.

I've been buying these PA collections as they're released, and all this time I've been under the impression that they were complete. I assumed that they contained every single strip that was posted on the web, the only exceptions being things like the Strawberry Shortcake parody which they had to omit for legal reasons. But yesterday I wanted to show someone a particular comic because it was pertinent, so I went to the website and started browsing through the archives. I must have looked through close to 100 comics beofore I found what I was looking for, and in doing so I noticed that there were a few here and there that I had not seen in a long, long time. Which was odd, because I go through the books all the time, I keep them in the can after all. So I printed a couple of them out and then went to the books and sure enough, they weren't there. It's no big deal, but it surprised me and I figured I'd spread awareness.

This book rocks. Not that there has been one so far I didn't love, but the instant I finished reading this one I went through and read it again. I can't believe how much gold there is in this year. Some of the earlier books were interesting in a historical sense (as Tycho outright admits) but I think this is the first book where they have found personalities for Gabe and Tycho that allow them to make the most use of them, and their comedy is always on. I think some people were a bit disappointed in "Birds are Weird" because of the lack of extras, this one has some interesting extras I think you'll like.
