This was such a surprise! It was a tremendously funny read.
I enjoyed Brando's other books somewhat, but this one was something special. Both me and my wife loved the book, it had us laughing for hours! The pictures were nice, but the writing really had us rolling in the ailes... I definitely recomend this book.

This book is a lot of fun. The art work is worth the cost alone. I thought "Chip" was done very well (the best). Worth looking at and reading. This would make a great gift for that golfer in your life.

A remarkable guy from Downtown, Known for reading his book upside down, Chose to stand on his head In his bed while he read And developed a permanet frown. A talkaty talker named Wade Took Tina to watch the parade, When he said, " Sweet miss-miss, Would you like a kiss-kiss?" She doused him with cold lemonade. A hot-air balloonist named Betty Flew over a sea of spagetti. It looked quite suspicious, But tasted delicious With Parameson cheese and confetti. There once was artist named Nallie, Who painted her cottage with jelly, And then on one shutter She spread peanut butter And slid down the stairs on her belly. A happy musican named Joe Went out play in the snow. He played up a storm To keep himself warm, While everyone shouted, "bravo!" A sleepy-time baby named Pammie Loves to sleep over with Grammie, Who bakes apple pies, And sings lullabies, And rocks her to sleep in her jammies.

`You're A Cold Fish, Harry.'
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2003-03-07
This is the story of a former mercenary named Harry Exton who is recruited by an old compadre into a `game' in which soldiers of fortune are sponsored by wealthy investors (called Voices, because they're only heard on the telephone) to fight it out gladiatorial style in a variety of settings, from the nighted English countryside, to an abandoned tenement, to the very streets of London. There's a lot of `dosh' to be made, but Harry doesn't like being boxed in. After a particularly deadly game, on a whim to test his Voice, he wonders aloud what would happen if he were to up and quit. That's enough for the Voices, and in the very next game Harry is set up for the kill. But Harry X is a lot more resourceful than they think...

This is a great thriller which is bookended by a wounded Harry telling his incredible story to the doctor treating him. While the concept sounds like Hard Target, forget that bit of fluff. This is an extremely well crafted bit of British noir. The action is completely believable (if surpassingly violent at times). There are no slow mo two gun jumps from the fireball here. This is hard hitting, driven plotboiler with a lace of cool. The characters are as hard boiled as they come, and the story culminates in a classic twist.

The art here is gritty and realistic - perfectly married to the writing. And is it just me or does Harry look a great deal like Sean Bean?

Buy this if you can get it - it delivers.

100 Challenging Story Teasers for the real Puzzle Fanatic
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2006-07-19
If you are bored with the simple problems you usually find in books on recreational mathematics, you will be very pleased with the 100 mathematical teasers on this book. Here an example (teaser 32):

"I am bored, give me something to do", said Joe "And what's the time anyway?".
Ben glanced at his watch and did some quick figuring. "When I checked my watch this morning" he replied, "the hour hand was exactly where the minute hand is now, and the minute hand was one division before where the hour hand is now."
"You mean minute division?" Joe asked.
"That's right", Ben told him. "And both hands are exactly at minute divisions now."
What was the time?

Try this mathematical puzzle only if you like challenges, and if you liked this one, you will definitively love this book.
