It's put forth in a manner that is easy to understand and will give you an understanding of why people continue to use this information to improve their lives and why this subject continues to grow in popularity

This book saved my life in regard to succintly putting together all of the ideas why and how "difference does matter". I used this book as guidance through my look at communication, especially communication with other cultures, especially my own culture. Well written and can be read and understood by everyone.

A must read

Difference Matters is an excellent, accessible read. Inclusion of statistics, examples, and personal experience provided compelling evidence to support the social constructivist perspective of identity. I recommend this book for every American.

This was a very interesting book on how have discernment in making decisions for your life. It was different than most books on God's will and the process the author reveals is very thought provoking and it made a lot of sense to me. I have some decision coming up and while I'm not ready to make those decisions yet, this book is helping me with the process.

I'm going to keep this one in my library so I can refresh memory as more important life choices come my way! I highly recommend it.

"This is one of, if not, the best inspirational book I have ever read, it puts into perspective, how God intends for us to communine with Him.
How He desires for us to return to the creatures He created us to be, before the fall of Adam and Eve.
I have had the influence of the Nazarene Doctrine, in my life since birth, and never have I heard the areas covered in this book, described so easy to understand.
If you read this and apply any of it to your own life, you will certainly become closer to being one with Him."

All I can say is WOW! This book not only helped me write my master's thesis, but also has been a great reference for my work as a parish clergy. I must say, if you are in the field of religious studies, and you do not have this book, then you are missing out on one of the best reference books available.

My favorite book by Karol Jackowski, Divine Madness, relates to all women, not just nuns. By sharing her experiences and inner feelings, Sister Karol, allows us to look into ourselves and find a common bond. She brings to light the relationships woman share and often take for granted.

For anyone who has considered a religous life

This little book it one of the best books about being called to a religous life and what it's like to follow that call. I've read a lot of books about life as a nun and this one is the one that spoke to me the most. It adresses many aspects of why one would choose to become a nun and why one would want to stay. Her writing style is easy to read and laced with humour. I would want Sister Karol Jackowski as a friend. But then again, after reading this book and "Ten Fun Things To Do Before You Die", I kind of feel like she already is.

This is a great book for those of us who were classically trained quantitative researchers who are delving into the qualitative realm. The authors have presented the material in an easy to understand style that explains the basics of how to do a case study with no fuss or muss. Even though the book is short in length, it is refreshing to find a work that gets right to the point and gives the info needed.

Clear, concise, easy to read

Great book! The authors present case study research in a very clear, concise, and easy to read style. You will read this book in a day and use it for a very long time. Great information on doing lit reviews (although brief - it is just what you need to know). I checked this book out from the library and then decided to purchase it, since I now see it as more of a reference item than a one-time read.

As a frame of reference: I am a second year PhD student and starting the second half of my coursework. I am TAing a course this fall where the class will be dissecting case studies - and for that, this book will be very helpful.

One of the best resources
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2002-03-15
Karla Williams has introduced an extremely practical and well written book for those of us who seek to raise the bar in the arena of Annual Funds and Donor Development. I have many, many books in my library that focus on fund-raising strategies, and this is the primary one that I will be using to train my staff and volunteers. Why? Ms. Williams not only presents a world-view that is compatible with our organization but then presents very practical, step by step strategies to implement this vision of donor development. She begins with a fairly in depth and clear presentation of the history of fund-raising (which helps to put things into perspective) and then moves on to what she believes is the most effective and responsible paradigm for funding non-profits: one that honors and respects the donor constituency in addition to raising the needed funds for our various causes. The book features numerous case illustrations, easy to interpret graphs, and an integrated annual develoment strategy that can be fine tuned for any organization. Bottom line: Yes it may seem expensive but it is simply one of *the* best resources for annual funds on the market today.

Right on the money review of US military downsizing
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-05
As a participant in the political selling off, downsizing, and rightsizing of some of America's industrial and personnel infrastructure, I can tell you that McCormick hits the players in the process right between the eyes with a refreshing honesty. During a time when a soldier wonders what is happening to the Department of Defense mechanisms that were supposed to be in place to protect ALL Americans with a viable defense, McCormick's analysis of the players and decisions made are on the money. I personally commanded 3 units during inactivation and the Base Reutilization and Closure (BRAC) processes. The manipulation of statistics to placate assigned service personnel isn't working as evidenced by declining numbers of personnel staying in the military. Defense leaders wondering why need to read the book.

Scholarly, yet common-sense view of a critical US entity.

Dr. McCormick's work is unusually sensible and down-to-earth, a quality that one does not often find in a scholarly work. The subject is a difficult one to approach, much less assess. If, indeed, McCormick's observations and conclusions are correct, the country probably would do well to seek his continued input as our largest organization, the military, considers its options and level of reorganization.
