When I first bought the 2001 edition I was relatively new to trucking and not knowing what the next towns were along the interstate this has been a GODSEND for me especially being a woman trucker. All I had to do was pick it up and find the Interstate I was on, the state and the mile marker, I could find a safe place to stop, a fuel stop or a rest stop. The only guides that are out now go by state with everything listed by city in alphabetical order. That doesn't help me at all. I recommended this book to many of the trainees that I trained and made sure before I released them onto the road that they had a copy of this.

This small book is not only a very friend tour guide to the institutions and locales of the spirit in Maine, but also provides a thorough and entirely readable overview of contemporary faith life downeast. The author's contemplative, yet conversational writing style, particularly in her explanations of some of the more esoteric, obscure, and overtly theological aspects and concepts, is perfect for such a work. The reading experience was not unlike many a friendly discussion of metaphysical concerns over tea and toast. Whether explaining the intricacies of Bahai or Spiritualism or examining the simplicity of the Amish and the Shakers or describing the life affirmation of Zen or Kairos the prison ministry, the author is spot-on in her exposition and narration. There's tons of fascinating trivia here as well, such as that the model for the painting AMERICAN MADONNA, which serves as the altarpiece at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Portland, was Robert Frost's sister Jeanie.
As someone who is moving to Maine in the near future, the book presented me with lots of ideas I'll want to explore once I get there. As the subtitle A SEEKER'S GUIDE suggests, this is vital information for any seeker, native or newcomer. Celestially highly recommended.

I found this book to be very useful! It gave me all the information I needed and more. If you want a book reeking of information about the nations of the world then you got one.

From its title, you would correctly assume that this publication is directed primarily toward farmers and rural residents. The Farmer's Guide to the Internet is intended both for farmers who don't own a computer yet and want to learn about the Internet and for those who are seeking Internet access or new Internet sites.

However, almost anyone could profit from this easy-to-read book. Although many of the Internet sites listed are agriculturally based, many would also interest a larger audience. The sites Include topics as varied as arts and science, business and finance, computer resources, health, history, home and garden, law, sports and recreation, and tax information, to name but a few.

The first section of the book lays the foundation for using the Internet. In a non-intimidating way, it guides the reader through an explanation of the Internet and the way it works. It then explains the five basic Internet services that most people use: e-mail, mailing lists, news groups, chat rooms, and the World Wide Web.

For Beginners, this guide covers everything from purchasing the computer and modem to securing telephone connections and obtaining the appropriate Internet software. It offers helpful tips along the way, such as which electrical surge protectors to choose, how to deal with noisy telephone lines, and how to keep long-distance charges to a minimum.

The second part of the book lists more than 2,000 Internet addresses. These are indexed by subject, such as crop resources--covering everything from fruits to nuts to vegetables--and livestock resources, encompassing beef, dairy, goats, poultry, sheep and swine.

The guide also lists agricultural companies, magazines, organizations, and news groups, as well as land grant universities in every state. Having all of these topics in one handy text saves a great deal of time and allows the reader to bookmark favorite sites.

The final section of the text contains material on Internet service providers, rural Internet access, PCs and Macs, and Internet software for Windows 3.1, 95, and 98.

If you are looking for one book that will help you get started on the Internet with the least possible pain, choose The Farmer's Guide to the Internet. If you are already an Internet user but would like to get a quick update on new Internet addresses, look no further than this manual. It will serve you well.

The author includes directions, hours of operation, supplies and all other information you need to know to plan your trip. Mining locations from Maine to California are included. I found loads of locations to take my family on a real life adventure. Seize the day!

The Filmwriters Guide is not only an excellent reference--it lists not just produced movie credits but also development projects which is really cool for film geeks like me--but the interviews with experienced screenwriters are always entertaining and insightful. Working screenwriters talking honestly about their work and careers is hard to find but these interviews are always good.

This is an excellent reference work for anyone seeking to
obtain a grant for collegiate work. It contains the application
process, a National Award Index/Indicator, directory lists,
to do lists, how to find scholarship money and much more.
There is a state-by-state listing of grant organizations with
the respective contact numbers listed. This work will be very
useful for anyone seeking to obtain grant money.

This book has the same structure and style as Kaplan's Scholarships (ISBN-13: 978-1419551444). It is easy to read and understand. Each scholarship is listed with an address, contact telephone number, web site, summary, eligibility requirements, amount awarded (financial data), number awarded each year and deadline. All of the numbers that I called and web sites that I visited were accurate and current. It is not organized by the disability.

It is easy to "scan" through the scholarships and find those that apply to a specific student. There were scholarships listed that were not found for my college students by Scholarships.com. My daughter has ADD and LD and my son has a clotting disorder. It is limited in the number of scholarships for ADD or LDs, such as dyslexia. There are none for clotting disorders. There are many listed for physical disabilities, cancer, hemophilia/bleeding disorders, and other traditional disabilities. NONE of the scholarships in this book are listed in Kaplan's or other nondisability scholarship books.
