This book is by far the most useful book of maps I have ever owned. If you have just moved or will be moving to the Dallas area you must pick this book up. Plano and the suburbs are growing so rapidly this keeps you up to date on all the latest streets. It will help you get anywhere with ease. Especially helpful when house hunting or going to garage sales.

Must Read for Web Wanderers!

This little tome is exactly as promised. Imagine the hours (days? nights?) this crazy woman must have spent prowling the dregs of the World Wide Web in order to find these gems. I'll admit to not having counted them, but even if there are only 500 instead of 501, it's worth your time to flip through and find your heart's desire. (My favorite: Derek's Big Web Site of WalMart Purchase Receipts!) The only downside? The author didn't include an e-mail address where we can send her all the other favorites she missed (for the second edition which is sure to come). But, the publisher has listed their's. I guess that is where I'll start...

Deadly Directory 2003 Another Great Edition
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2003-06-12
The latest edition of this (almost) annual directory is even better than previous editions. Even if you bought all the others you need this one. This is the only directory of all the mystery booksellers, used and rare book dealers, magazines, websites, publishers, reviewers, events, library collections, awards, gifts, tours, conferences, organizations, dinner theaters, email lists, and audio/video sources in the world! Entries are listed by category (bookstores together, reviewers together, etc. and extensively indexed, even for geographic locations.

If you love mysteries you will love the Deadly Directory. Excellent for locating reading groups, mystery bookstores, people you met a the last convention, author newsletters, hard to find books, mystery tours and weekends, museums, Raymond Chandler's letters -- anything that exists related to mystery fiction can be found using the Deadly Directory.

Each carefully checked entry includes (as appropriate) a contact name, address, phone, fax, email, and website addresses along with a brief description. The little identifying symbols have been moved from the entry header to the descriptions so entry names are easier to read and Kate is using a new printer but otherwise it is the same clean, easy to use layout.

Also includes a calendar of annual events -- fan conferences, awards presentations, mystery author workshops, etc. -- and a list of those that are now defunct, RIP, so you don't have to look all over for something that no longer exists.

This is a supremely useful book. The only one of its kind and no one could do a better job than the keeper of the Cluelass website!

Generation D criminal justice and criminology professionals will bounty hunt unsolved crimes for rewards; communicate with colleagues worldwide by e-mail; train in computer crime, forensics and Internetwide security; and web surf such sites as gangs, stolen bike registry, and terrorism. THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND CRIMINOLOGY ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB therefore suggests becoming comfortable with such web directories, maps, search engines, and site lists as Gateway to the World, The Librarian's Guide to the Internet, Whowhere?, and the 18+ million World E-Mail Directory addresses. The book also shows keeping current nowadays as clicking into anti-virus sites; career advice, employment, and resume posting services; discussion lists and newsgroups; e-journals and 'zines; the Justice Information Center; the Justice Research Association; the National Criminal Justice Reference Service abstracts, international criminology links, JUSTINFO publication, and statistics; The 'lectric Law Library; and the weekly updated Talk Justice. This guide by The Criminal Justice Distance Learning Consortium is unique but does share common concerns with Don MacLeod's THE INTERNET GUIDE FOR THE LEGAL RESEARCHER.

DESIGN DIRECTORY Germany
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2004-08-15
As a Graphic Artist/Designer I highly recommend this book to all designers out there! This book shows the best German aspects of design since 1860. Mainly the 1920's BAUHAUS school of thought/design that still exsists to this day.
The concept and thought of "functional design" began in Germany with Architecture, Furniture, Graphics, Product, Fashion, and of course, Automobiles! This book shows it all in an easy to read and find format.
To all designers out there, I highly recommend this compact book to be included in your library!

I must say this is exactly the kind of book i've been looking for, since I entered architecture school I have been trying to find literature for a good design process applied to architecture. The book covers the architectural design process from start to finish with many helpfull insights into the various stages of the complex design process involved in building. In my opinion, it is a vaery complete book, not just talking about building aspects, but client relationships, cost concerns, while at the same time realizing the diference of the academic and work reality. A must buy in my opinion.

How to empower the reader in the art of visualization
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2005-08-25
Volume II in Connolly's new Esoteric Guidebook Series is titled Develop Your Psychic Powers and contains the information and exercises to empower the reader in the art of visualization, intuition, dreamwork, merging with the higher self, and other paranormal phenomena.

Here's the idea, you meditate on a Major like the Magician and tap into his power and thus become him becuase you need that tool. This is NOT far fetched but a lot of what the Golden Dawn itself, and Arthur Waite originally, wanted the tarot to be: a guide for psychometry or as Crowley called it, Magick. Dr Connolly has taken the magick out and put the psychology in.

If you like the book others like it are the Regardie series and many of Crowleys & Waites works.

A Handy Dining Guide for Vistors and Locals Alike
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-22
I'm driving around Phoenix and trying to think of a place to eat. I'm drawing blanks. Where to eat? Does that ever happen to you?

Fortunately, I have Dining in Arizona: 101 Great Places to Eat, by Claire Bush in my glovebox. I pull it out and scan the restaurants by city index in the back of the book. I look up the summaries for a handful that sound interesting. Now all of a sudden, I have a mind full of options and decide to eat at a restaurant I've never tried before.

Claire's book is handy for locals like me, and especially helpful for the throngs of tourists that visit the valley. The summaries are concise but elaborate enough to convey the restaurant's concept and include highlights on the specialties, so my appetite is already whetted before I walk in the door.

Thirty-five or so of the restaurants are outside the Phoenix Metro area, so even if I'm hiking in Flagstaff, I can use the guide to find a spot to eat before heading back to the Valley.

Other handy indicies include restaurants by cuisine, and by category, like cheap eats, splurge, and date night. No longer will I drive around aimlessly, trying to think of a place to eat. I'll just reference Claire's book, and save time and brain space. Thanks, Claire!
