Ms. Evans has written one of the most up to date books on real estate with such great clarity and style. The book provides an insider's look into how the real estate industry works not yesterday BUT TODAY. It shows you how to use the Internet to your advantage. If your not using the Internet in the home buying process and have not bought this book you have missed the boat!...

TWO "CLICKS" WAY WAY UP! :-)

Ms. Evans has scored big with this phenomenal book. As a Realtor who does the majority of my business off the Internet, I am going to enthusiastically recommend this guide to all of my Internet clients. There is great information contained on every page... info that every person potentially looking to relocate should gather and digest. Somewhat selfishly, I must say that Ms. Evans does do a good job crediting Realtors, unlike most books which portray ALL agents as salespeople "just out for the sale". She emphasizes that people SHOULD select a Real Estate Consultant to assist in the home search and relocation process.

Kudos to Ms. Evans for writing a book that consumers AND their Realtors can read and appreciate!

I don't know about you, but I have been frustrated numerous times when looking at pattern books and they refer to another manufactures hook that you do not own. This book helps break that problem and provides a great cross referance for all the leading manufactures hooks. This book is really a breath of fresh air that does a very good job as it is intended to. I, like most of you use one manufactures hooks. So now when I see a pattern that calls for a hook from company ABC I can cross referance it quickly and go about my bussiness. This is a nice book for a reasonable price. This book is ment for all levels of tyers.

I waffled for a few months before buying this book. I wasn't sure the price justified a book that appeared to be little more than cross-reference charts. I have several other such charts in other books, and printed from websites.

Schmidt's charts are by far the best. They consist of two lists for each of sixteen hook makers: a cross-reference chart, and a properties chart with illustrations.

Finding the right hook for my own patterns and determining equivalent hooks for those listed in other's patterns has become much easier. It has become hard to imagine how I got along without this book.

Avid fishermen who tie their own flies will want to take a look at a title which offers at-a-glance comparisons of the models from all major manufacturers. This isn't for novices: Hooks for the Fly is for the avid fisherman who's long needed such a cross-comparison reference, and includes b&w illustrations of over 400 models.

The iFilm Internet Movie Guide by IFILM.com editor-in-chief Lew Harris is a trailblazing, comprehensive guide to the best films, film sites, review sites, celebrity shrines, and movie-related gossip on the Internet. Perhaps most unique of all, it reviews and directs websurfers to short films that are available 24 hours a day on the Internet for all to see, for free! An absolute "must" for movie buffs and have access to the Internet, The iFilm Internet Movie Guide may be the first book of its kind but it certainly won't be the last!

The best thing about this book is that it tips you off to sites you never knew existed and would have never found otherwise. I consider myself pretty web savvy, and yet I discovered sites that are fun and useful and whose existence was a pleasant surprise. Also, the book is very funny and has a great attitude.

THE BEST BOOK FOR EVEYTHING FILM ON THE WEB

I got this book as a gift from a friend. I had very low expectations. I pride myself on having a rather large list of entertainment url bookmarks. Boy, was I surprised!! And impressed. The book starts off with the best 50 short films to watch on the Web--for FREE. There are the best in animation, spoofs, sci-fi, celebrity stuff, comedy, drama etc. I especially liked the "underground" sites, hip review sites (rotten tomatos), Sexiest sites, and other movie stuff. The interviews were fairly irreverent and fun. There is even a professional Appendix of the best screenwriter sites, filmmaking sites, producing sites and other somewhat professional places to go. It is just my guess, but there are probably close to 500 or more legitmate entertainment sites described in this book--way more than I ever imagined or have time to fully check out. very browsable. Thanks for the gift--I've had hours of pleasure. Broadband makes this book much better

Part of the The Illustrated Directory Of series, this book is a real hoot!

Following a reasonable timeline, some of our most importaint locomotives in the history of Railways are covered, Steam, Electric, Diesel and GasTurbine.

All regions are covered but the U.K., Europe and North America get the most coverage as the need to create communications in these large land mass areas saw the most development in locomotive technology.

The contentious issue of who built the first Pacific type (4-6-2)locomotve is settled with Baldwin winning by a couple of weeks with their order from the New Zealand Government Railways for that country's Q class locomotives in 1899-1900.

Other magnificent feats of engineering are covered, the mighty Big Boys, the sleek GG1s, the Hudsons, F7 Diesels etc and the modern locomotives and High Speed passenger trains of today all get a look in. Relevent data is included for those who want to know, other than that, what a great read.

This wonderful book covers over 150 locomotives starting from the very early steam to present day high speed trains. Steam,Diesel and Electric traction are all covered with fairly good descriptions on each locomotive.Though majority of entries are from from US and UK, other countries are covered aswell. Locomotives which brought technological innovations and also ones which performed well are all included.Interesting historical information on each locomotive is also provided. The book contains beautiful color photographs and some superb highly detailed color line drawings.Though without an index this book is very informative and covers the most important locomotives of the past aswell as the present.

Get to More Outstanding Trek Sites in Less Time!
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2000-11-09
This book is an essential resource for all Star Trek fans who can use the Internet.

Let me explain why. Search engines have many weaknesses. They only check for certain key words, and they rank order the output in very long lists. For specific details on one page inside of a site, search engines are usually unable to help you. But perhaps the biggest weakness is that you have to think of the right things to search for.

As much as I love Star Trek, I would never spend hours using 20 different search engines and every word I could think of to try to find the best sites. Also, I wouldn't want to plow through a lot of lousy sites. I would simply give up, and not go further. That would be a mistake.

Star Trek is so popular that there are many more sites and types of sites than you can possibly imagine, and certainly many more than I ever imagined. For example, the book lays out all of the cast and characters of all the series and movies. It turns out that you have many sites to choose from (both in the U.S. and in other countries) for each character and performer.

Let me share a story with you. I was sitting at a table in a large meeting room a few years ago with an empty seat next to me. Dinner was about to be served. A nice-looking gentleman asked me if the seat was taken, and I asked him to please sit down. About 2 and a half seconds later, I realized that this was George Takei (Sulu to Trekkers). Well, I had a tremendously enjoyable three hours talking with him about his acting career, his interests, and current projects. Mr. Takei proved to be highly intelligent, gracious, and a real pleasure to be with in person. Now, I have to assume that my other favorite actors and actresses from Star Trek are not going to make themselves available to me in this way, but I can now use this book to visit Web sites and have experiences that will be somewhat like my wonderful dinner with Mr. Takei. I hope you will enjoy those visits as much as I did mine with Mr. Takei.

After you visit the sites for the cast and characters, you can always go to the film and television series sites. From there, you can find the best discussion sites for your interests. You can further visit the best multimedia sites.

I didn't realize that there was original Star Trek art on-line, and look forward to examining it. You can also acquire lots of Star Trek software (for cursors, fonts, icons, screensavers and wallpaper), plus directions for how to save and use them.

If you like to collect characters, there's help for you, as well.

If you are into Star Trek games, there are sites to help you "solve" whatever is stalling your progress.

But if you are like me, you will be fascinated by the section that begins on page 179 on how to build your own Star Trek site. And with a better sense of what is and is not available now, you can create a better, more intersting site.

We all know that some sites on any subject contain objectionable material. The listing of all the sites in this book tells you wish ones to avoid for this reason. Also, if you are screening sites for your youngsters, you can use this to avoid sites with adult material on them. So your young Voyager fanatic can trek safely in Cyberspace with your help.

After you realize what is available on-line about Star Trek, I suggest that you plan a regular schedule of voyages to help increase your enjoyment. As you do, be sure to pay attention to the chronology of Stardates in this book to help you keep what you are viewing in order.

Star Trek is all about the idea that the only limitations are the ones that we accept in ourselves. I hope you will use your Internet voyages to reaffirm your faith in that belief. Also, ask yourself where you are limiting yourself today. And then begin to eliminate those limits.

Be unbounded in your mission (except by the Prime Directive)!

This book is great! Its a great coffee table book or a nice piece to briefly cover the topic of sustainability in Minnesota. It gives brief overviews of individuals and families that are incorporating community building and sustainability into their lives, business practices, business models, and architecture. My hat's off to the authors of this book and to the people whom made this book possible, the many subjects of this book.

An Extensive Compilation of Government Websites!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1999-10-20
The size of the United States Government has grown by leaps and bounds since its humble beginning a little over two hundred years ago. The founding fathers of this country probably never envisioned such rapid growth. Many of us living today probably wished it hadn't. Anyway, we must live with it. Fortunately, we can all benefit from our tax money at work by logging onto a number of government Websites and glean from the vast amounts of information available at them.

Laurie Andriot has compiled an extensive number of government Websites in Internet Blue Pages to offer her readers a heavy-hitting source of government resources. Information gleaned from these sites can help readers make better business decisions, assist them in finding employment, make it easier for them to obtain veterans services, help them to keep up on the latest Washington news and lawmaking (and law-breaking), and much more!

Readers will be able to access tons of government policy and regulatory information covering a variety of issues, including health, safety, food, finances, employment, military, transportation, civil rights, the arts and sciences, and social issues that affect our country and our way of living. I was quite surprised to see a Website listed for the RAF Mildenhall Air Force Base located in England. I had visited this base a number of times while serving in the Air Force at another base in this same country!

Andriot offers brief but helpful commentary on many of the sites listed, including the historical background and roles of many government offices and agencies we have heard about and perhaps a few we never knew existed! Readers are encouraged to read through these blue pages to learn more about the government that has pledged to serve our best interests.

Regardless of what your opinion is of the current administration and congressional representation, our government has plenty of useful information available to meet a variety of personal and business needs. One can tell by the size of this book that there is plenty to go around. This book provides a heavy dose of it. It is ideal for people who either want to do business with our government agencies or want to learn how best to keep them off their backs!

If your looking for a needle in a haystack, these volumes-"Italians to America" are a must for any Italian-American geneaology buff. Fortunately, I had a death certificate that had the place of birth of my grandfather. Using the index with variations of our last name, I recorded the information and proceeded to lookup every entry. On my second trip to the public library I found the entry and all information checked out. His age, city of departure and his place of birth. My only complaint was that the editors didn't have this information on CDs. It would be a marvelous reference tool. Here's hoping that they have second thoughts about updating their next volume and replace with CDs.
