A Recommended Book in Web Design and DevelopmentReview Date: 2003-01-10
A Great Book for Novice Web Developers!Review Date: 2002-12-30
After going through this easy-to-read book, I am now comfortable with building interactive web sites with attractive graphics, selecting and installing web servers and firewalls for Internet and intranets, designing multi-tiered web client/server systems, and building various types of web database and spreadsheet applications such as name and address search engines, online stores and back-offices, and financial analysis and forecasting tools.
Another valuable piece of this book is the "buy low and sell high" concept, which taught me how to be on the cutting-edge by taking advantage of free-down-load trial or beta versions of web servers and development tools. Visual Studio .NET and .NET Framework Beta 2 is an example in my case.

Great coverage of web accessibility standards!Review Date: 2005-11-23
"the layout of Felke-Morris's text is excellent. I have always
disliked texts with crowded pages, distracting sidebars, and many colors. Felke-Morris' text focuses the student on salient content and uses color, text boxes, and the like to enhance and emphasize, rather than distract. Felke-Morris' hands-on exercises are something my current text does not even have. I really like these exercises because they give
students a chance to learn and practice small chunks of material before applying the knowledge to a larger project."

"Great coverage of web accessibility standards! Glad to see a tutorial on File Management. Many students coming into this course struggle with those
concepts."

"Great inclusion of ethical issues and accessibility tips (these are areas that I do find myself supplementing with our current text)."
Joyce M. Dick, Northeast Iowa Community College
"Superior aspects of Felke-Morris include:
--Inclusion of web site pages and/or addresses that have been referred
to in the text as either examples of techniques, or places to find more information, or used as a part of the end-of-chapter section on Web Research. These are a real strong point of the text.
--Use of the same four example sites through the text as end-of-chapter Cases. As each chapter is completed, each site is enhanced using the current chapter's skills and concepts.
--The inclusion of Hands-On Practice and Web Research sections."

Clear picture to understand databases of web documentsReview Date: 2004-06-16
The book is divided into different sections of information modelling, representation, extraction, and mining. In most chapters, both high level concepts and low level details are well covered. The last few chapters describe novel techniques to mine web data.
This book is a complementary book suitable for readers who want to understand or build web information system. Readers may enhance their knowledge on issues relating to modelling, representation, extraction, and mining information on the Web. It helps readers in understanding current researches on web information system. In particular, chapter 5 and chapter 6 are suitable for readers with database background. These two chapters describe how XML documents can be stored in object relational database and how subset of concepts can be optimally extracted.

Web of Deceit, A tale of gripping suspenseReview Date: 2002-10-04
A seemingly senseless kidnapping draws us into scenes of breathtaking mountains and rugged terrain, but also into a story with a sense of fear that is so real, it will make you check the locks on your windows and doors.
Rich's finely crafted page turner will keep the reader's rapt attention until the last page is read. This is a quick read that does not disappoint.

If you aren't a techie, Web 2.0 probably doesn't mean much to you. You might think it is just the "next version" of the Internet or just a new way of doing things online -- such as blogging, video, etc. In this the book the author shows you that Web 2.0 is so much more than the "what" -- it's actually mostly about the "how".
How can a business -- be it IBM or your one-man home-based operation -- benefit from new advances and developments online? How can you change your way of thinking about business to take advantage of the power of communities that are popping up all over the Internet? How can you learn from others, such as Amazon and Flickr, who made major changes to their business models and discovered new ways of doing business?
If you want another book on geek tech, then this book isn't for you. If you own your own business, or are just merely an employee looking for innovative ways of getting things done, this book is for you. I have no doubt that there will be people who read this book who will have an "Aha!" moment and transform the Internet even more. I learned so much from this book that it is difficult to just pick one or two main points to focus on.
When you are done with this book you'll understand how revolutions and evolutions on the Internet have changed the way we do business -- from online to offline. You'll also better understand how social networks play such a crucial role in everyday life and how they are turning traditional business models on their head.
You owe it to yourself to read this book -- your take on business will never be the same afterwards.
