Adolf Hitler and the editors of Time-Life Books deliver yet another masterful performance. This book is not a couple of inches thick as other Hitler books are but, you feel you miss out on nothing because what other books have in information, and verboseness this one more than makes up with sharp, concise, professional writing. This one really takes you deep withing the inner circle of concentric power of the infamous Third Reich emanating from will of the Fuhrer. No other title has succeeded in providing such an intimate view of the secluded everyday happenings in the lives of the supreme masters, that you actually have the feeling of being a first person witness. The insiders view is intense, as much of the action revolves around the magnetic personality of Adolf, it is not only a historically accurate document but an really intriguing personal biography. The photographs are of first rate, and is instrumental in the overall feel of splendor of this title. Reading it is guaranteed to be a tremendous affair

A Gem.

Center of the Web, (im assuming its from the Time Life Third Reich series) is an absolute must for any Hilter, and Third Reich student. This title is from the masterful Time Life Third Reich series, assuring a competent work, and delivering a masterpiece. This book in laced with breathtaking pictures and illustrations. The writing is superb, and the captions are marvels by themselves. The atention to detail in the production of the cover, the design, and layout of the book is outstanding. While other books are content to throw facts and information at you, this book is in a rare categorie of books that totally immerse you into the storie. The book takes you deep into the highest sector of Nazi Germany. into the daily life of Adolf Hitler. Pure reading enjoyment.

Charlotte's Web E.B. White, 1952, 184pp.
By E.B. White 0-06-440055-7

Charlotte's Web is about a pig that was born in spring and as a runt. He was smaller than all the other pigs and they would leave the little pig out of everything. Fern, the little girl, saved this pig when her father tried to kill it. Fern wouldn't let that happen, so she keep the pig as a pet. She named him Wilbur and he lived at Fern's uncle's house across the street. Then it was close to winter. When winter comes and spring pigs were born, then those pigs were killed and eaten for a winter feast. Would Fern let that happen to Wilbur? Read this book and find out.
I love Fern and Wilbur! Fern has a heart for Wilbur and Wilbur is cute and the most adorable pig ever.
I would recommend this book for all ages! It would be great for anyone! If you love animals then this book is for you!

This book is all about a pig who was rescued by a spider and a little girl. This little pig's name is Wilbur. He was a spring pig and raised by a girl named Fern who saved him just before he was killed, for he was a runt. With the help of his friends, including Charlotte the spider, he has many famous adventures. I would definitely recommend this book cause when I read it,I smiled all the way through - except the sad parts- but I would really suggest you read it!

I recently read this with my six-year old son, and we both greatly enjoyed it. We were familiar with the Paramount film of the same title, and enjoyed reviewing the differences. E.B. White's prose is marvelous and is a nice exploration of words with a young reader. I particularly enjoyed the "special read along edition" as it helped my son follow along and pick up the reading at different points because it was so easy to see, and the illustrations were as well. I highly recommend the book and the version. We also recently read Trumpet of the Swan by the same author and enjoyed it as well.

Highly recommended! The large formate - one puzzle per page makes it visually possible if you have visual organizational problems, and otherwise very pleasant. The authors provide a great support for the learning process in the book and the free link to their web site. They are excellent teachers making it a lot of fun to learn in their 'classroom'. It seems they WANT you to have fun and enjoy logic as much as they do. Refreshing indeed to have FUN and LEARNING at the bottom line.

I have been playing online at Web Sudoku for nearly a year now and their Sudoku puzzles are consistently excellent. Now they've brought out a book which maintains the same high standard and in my opinion beats all the other books on the market. There are 200 puzzles in the book - 50 in each of their 4 levels, mostly 9x9 but with some 12x12 and 16x16 as well. I also find that this paperback sudoku book is the perfect size to carry around in a bag but still has plenty of space around the puzzle.

One of the best "how to" Client-Server testing books ever...

I have been doing SQA and related engineering for almost twenty years and have not seen many books that actually get into the "nuts and bolts" of software testing as well as this one does. Mosley takes great pains to insure that whether you are a newcomer to SQA or a seasoned pro, something is here for you. I recently moved from a strictly software testing environment to a Client-Server environment and used this book extensively to "get up to speed" with the new internet testing concepts presented in this publication. Very practical examples, clear explanations and a thorough knowledge of the topic. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is new to the field and any one needs ideas on how to put a test environment together that really produces immediate results. I have worked on many software engineering projects over the past twenty years and wished many times for a book like this, now its here.

If you buy only one software test book, buy this one...

Of all the sofware testing books I've read, Mosley's stands out as the easiest to read, and contains real-world tangible examples that can be put to use immediatley. His Test Plan outlines are excellent and are built from IEEE standards. Lots of useful information and minimum test philosophy. Like many client-server books, the focus is primarily e-commerce, but the test approaches can be applied to any multi-user GUI application.

OVERCOME YOUR "STALLED" THINKING ABOUT E-COMMERCE PROFITS
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2004-09-14
CLIENTES.COM is a very valuable book in that it focuses both on how to serve customers on-line as well as how to make money doing so.

Like a good consultant, the author systematically looks at best practices from each of 16 cases, and combines the lessons into a vision of the future best practice (in 2-3 years) that no one is yet doing. This is an outstanding accomplishment, that is not matched in most best practice books.

I also visited the CUSTOMERS.COM Web site to register for the free booklet that is offered, and was pleased to get many ideas to improve our own electronic commerce. Be sure to check here from time to time, because the author updates the 16 case histories in the book on the Web site so that you can keep up-to-date. That is an especially nice touch.

Ms. Seybold does a nice job in CUSTOMERS.COM of critiquing each case history for ways that organization could improve. Let me do the same for her book. Several things stand out. First, the book does not go into enough detail about how to find the weaknesses in current operations that will permit greater profitability through changed processes facilitated by electronic commerce. There is a lot of best practice work needed in those areas before you start thinking about electronic commerce. Second, she does not address the question of what the ideal best practice of electronic commerce is. You might think of a well-informed concierge in a great hotel who knows you well as the model for this ideal best practice. Third, more needs to be done to help you learn how to facilitate the change process. The steps she describes would be very difficult for many organizations to implement that are beset by severe stalls in the form of tradition, disbelief, misconceptions, bureaucracy, avoiding the unattractive (such as customer problems), procrastination, and miscommunication. Fourth, the book highlights a lot of very interesting case histories and shows their successes. I was struck that although I am a heavy Web user and a substantial customer of many of these organizations, I did not know about the electronic services they offer. It sounds like many of these organizations still have a communications problem with their customers. Fifth, the available technology will advance a lot in the next five years. I felt the book does not do enought to make people aware of how technology that is not yet available can facilitate the future success of their electronic commerce.

No book can serve all needs in an area, so we can look forward to Ms. Seybold's next book. I enjoyed the personal touch as she described her own experiences with many of the companies involved. I hope she keeps in touch with them and us. I suspect she will based on the e-mails I get from her after registering on her site.

OVERCOMING "COLLABORATION"
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-17
With all due apologies to Mark Twain, it seems as though everybody talks about Collaboration but nobody does anything about it. Especially on the B2B side. The younger generation engages social networking technologies, and are probably in the best position to understand the principles of Collaboration.

But on some level, as with previous business buzzwords such as "Quality" and "Virtual," this concept threatens to become "Collaboration" in some quarters, instead: a poor clone of a great practice.

There's nothing new about collaboration, per se: corporate IT systems of the 70s and 80s ran expensive Decision Support Systems (most notably from Comshare) that eventually found their way to the PC platform, with products such as Forest & Trees.

In theory, enterprise-wide collaboration is a "given." So in the 21st century, we're supposed to know how to collaborate, whether an organization operates that way (or can, or wishes to) or not.

This is not to suggest that there are not, literally, hundreds of products and software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications for organizations to adopt. In point of fact, from free services to expensive products, the number of collaboration software options is mind-numbing.

So David Coleman and Stewart Levine, authors of "Collaboration 2.0: Technology and Best Practices for Successful Collaboration in a Web 2.0 World" have taken on the Herculean task of looking at collaboration holistically, and throughout the book try to deal with the holy triumvirate of collaboration: people, process and technology.

The first part of the book, written by Coleman, details current and emerging collaboration technologies, tying them to specific business processes exhibiting what he calls "collaborative leverage."

Rather than adopt a solution in search of a problem, i.e., implement collaboration software without first identifying how and where to apply it, merely brings "social networking to the corporate enterprise.

But to what effect?

The second part of the book, written by Levine, closely examines the essential part of the collaboration equation - people processes - as well as techniques to build trust and agreement.

Levine's approach seems almost too fundamental, but there's much to be said for simplifying this miasma of technologies, and having them make sense within distributed collaborative environments.

Which makes this book a highly valuable primer.

The last two chapters detail best practices of how to make viable that holy trinity of people, processes and technology within the organization overall, and how to get the greatest results from "going collaborative."

In fact, the final chapter goes beyond the workplace, examining the effects of collaboration on society, even to the point of affecting environmental sustainability. Intuitively, being able to save money by not traveling to trade show or meeting XYZ is a great concept. But on the Green side, there are very telling implications. For example, the pollution generated by a commercial jet airliner, because of its high altitude, is three times that of the same amount of pollution created on the ground...further support for the "Stay home and collaborate online, instead" argument.

All in all, then, Coleman and Stewart have handled a blindingly confusing topic quite handily, sussing out how to help make remote-located workgroups, departments, and cross-functional teams work more effectively.

They address the real needs of a technology and practice set that are very nearly growing almost out-of-control, and helps the reader (whether technical or business-oriented) make sense of it all.

I strongly recommend "Collaboration 2.0: Technology and Best Practices for Successful Collaboration in a Web 2.0 World" to anyone with a sincere desire to enable true collaboration within their organization, or just for themselves.

My personal experience in key segments of the collaboration software market space stretches back about 25 years, pre-dating "CRM" even before it was called "sales force automation," with products such as ACT!, and later GoldMine (especially through the 90s) as they moved from desktops to networks.

It was a crowded, confusing marketplace then, and it's even-more-so now. But David Coleman and Stewart Levine have taken an often brilliant stab at the interesting challenge of looking at collaboration beyond the sales force, on an organizational level, in their new book, "Collaboration 2.0: Technology and Best Practices for Successful Collaboration in a Web 2.0 World."

I've read two books in the past five months that will have a direct impact on my business, my sales and my life and Collaboration 2.0 is one of those. (The other being Sales Essentials by Stephen Schiffman.) Throughout Coleman & Levine's book they deal with people, processes, and technologies that best complement each other. I believe these two authors provide a first-class overview of collaboration technologies, how they can be applied and what the best behaviors are to help make "teams" work more effectively.

The authors cover a wide scope on a very fragmented and rapidly evolving technology environment and help the reader make sense of it.

Although the first part of the book written by David Coleman does give a great overview of current and emerging collaboration technologies, it also ties these technologies to specific business processes measured against what they call "collaborative leverage."

I think this is important in that collaboration without a specific place to apply it and without a specific goal is just software that can promote social interactions between people. But online communities, whether social or business, must meet some objective. And in the case of business users, collaborative efforts must be "dollarized."

The second part of the book, written by Stewart Levine, really looks at people and processes and deals with techniques to build trust and agreement. Most of Stewart's ideas are very practical, and often can be seen as "Communication 101." The fact that Levine applies these techniques to the new collaborative environments is one of the things that make this book so essential.

The final part of the book looks at how to apply the best practices of people, process and technology (for collaboration) and how to get the most from this application. The final chapter takes a somewhat "big picture" view and looks at the effects of collaboration on society, and in this case, how these collaboration technologies affect environmental sustainability.

To me this book is a "must-read" for people who sell or who market products and services for a living. It shows you how to work smarter and the bottom-line benefit is that you can cut the length of the sales cycle. This is the biggest bugaboo in the game. I need deals closed today, not tomorrow. Collaboration, done right, helps to make that happen. I don't have to always feel like I'm all out there alone.

Before I started my own company (sixteen years ago) my boss used to say to me daily, "Make it happen. It has to happen." I just wish I had collaboration tools and techniques back then, instead of nothing more than a pair of brass balls.

If you sell for a living, I highly recommend this book. If you are involved in any "project-type" work, the book is recommended. For students and professionals alike who have an interest in collaboration in the new millennium, this is a book that will benefit you in many ways!

There are few professions that have as much potential as architecture and city planning to take advantage of the Net. This book is the best general introduction to the Web for people in the design professions. Cohen patiently explains the concepts in a way that his fellow architects can understand and apply. I was especially impressed with the chapters on participatory planning and design. This book is very well written and illustrated.

This is a unique book, catering to architects, engineers, land-use planners and other professionals in related fields. Although part of the book is about web-site design and site management issues (which is covered in many books), the author presents the information very well - in fact, the quality of the editing, formatting and illustrations is great - done with a lot of care.

The chapters which really caught my interest were those relating to community planning - especially the one about participatory community planning. This is an application with a lot of potential, where 'the web-site' could unleash a number of other novel communication tools (e.g. environmental simulation - my area of expertise).

I highly recommend this book to anyone involved in community/land-use development or resource management. It is a great source of ideas.

iMovie2 does not come with an instruction book, and the iMac booklet helps precious little, so I was pleased to find Brad Miser's Idiot Guide (which is a series I like anyway). The book is both imformative and insightful, plus a lot of fun to read. It got me going with iMovie in very short order, and when I emailed Mr. Miser to clarify a point, I got a prompt and effective answer. Highly recommended.

There are few things as satisfying and fun to the videographer as making professional movies - videos that you actually want to watch a second time or more - and Apple's iMovie software is THE tool to do just that. You get superb results from an inexpensive piece of software - IF you can use it. While the program is exceptionally simple, there is only an on screen "Help Menu," and we all know how those work: everything but the question you need answered, it seems. Into the void has rushed Brad Miser with wit and wisdom, and with all the answers and instruction you need and then some. His Idiot's Guide is a marvelous introduction to video/movie making, and he walks you through composition, editing, mixing, enhancing, titling, effects, and stuff you never thought possible when you bought that video camera (or even thought about buying it). Miser is one of those very few authors that are effectively "high tech" and "high touch," he writes with clarity, and with an obvious love of his subject. If Amazon would allow it, I'd give this six stars.
