Just to let you know, The Dog Redeemers techniques and methods were wonderful! Our rescue boxer had pack-order issues with our other 3 dogs. After just a few sessions with your methods, our female boxer no longer tries to assert herself, but has accepted herself into the pack, and is a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you so much. I cannot express how much the book has helped, and would encourage anyone who is having any kind of behavioral issues with their dogs to get the book. Thanks again!

Ten years in the making written about real life canine rescue experiences The Dog Redeemers provides hope and encouragement for the frustrated dog owner and canine rescue volunteer. Anyone involved with dogs should get a copy of the book; keep it as reference reviewing it least once a year. I picked this book up at a garage sale a couple weeks ago because I'm always interested in books on this topic, having 3 dogs at home. It really is a great problem-solving book, and is easy to read and understand. I like the fact that McSoley gives you more than one way to deal with most of the behavior problems described in the book, too.

Another book I recommend is The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell. It's not a how-to book, but it gives some great insights into dog vs. human behavior and how to communicate effectively with your dog.

This book was recommended to me by a vet 10 years ago. I had a very out of control dog, and we were her third owners. I got this book out of the library and read it from cover to cover. We began training the dog with the tips that Ray used in the book. To this day, even though she is going deaf, our dog comes when we blow a whistle three times. We even had Ray come to our house and give us tips to help her. Ray really saved our dog. I could not have kept her if he didn't help us train her. She is now a very well behaved, sweet dog. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting a dog. I even bought a used copy and have loaned it to lots of friends who got puppies. I look forward to his next book, A Ray of Hope - Helping Dogs with People Problems.

I found Ray's antedotal appraoch to behavioral problems very refreshing. By showing exactly what the owners were doing wrong, I was able to see if my problems were similiar enough to warrent the same correction. Ray really respects the fact that not all dogs are the same and as a result, he presents several remedies for the reader to try. In general, Ray showed me that we are always teaching our dogs, whether we want to or not. As a result, I am much more aware of timing, proper corrections and how I interact with my puppy. A must read for all of us lucky enough to have a dog in our lives.

Sadly, I'm buying copies of this book second-hand. I give a copy to anyone I know who's a new dog owner. Too bad it's out of print, as it's the best book possible for training your family dog to be the greatest family member/dog he can be.

Having owned and trained (been trained by?) two Alaskan malamutes, this book helped me help them without resorting to weird paramilitary routines. A more loving, playful, trusting, WELL-BEHAVED pair would be tough to find. Brava to September Morn. And thank you

Clearly a must-have for anyone who desires to have a win-win relationship with their dog. I was surprised how quickly my dogs responded to her suggestions. The insights offered in Dogs Love To Please are positive and helpful. I've used this information for my older dogs and a new puppy. Stop being frustrated and begin to "understand" your dog. You'll learn to communicate with your dog in a way THEY understand. I believe in this book so strongly, I've given it as a gift many times.

Undoubtedly THE best book written on canine training!

If you are considering getting a dog or are at your wits end in trying to get your present dog to become a behaved household member, then read on....

September gives great insights into why a dog acts like it does and how to effectively use those thought processes to train acceptable behavior. Her entire approach is summed up in the title... "Dogs love to please" their masters; we just need to show them how to please us. To make things easier, little 'tricks' are shared throughout the text. (Have a dog that doesn't want to sit? Then use the "Jelly Spot" that is presented in the book.)

She also provides valuable information on non-verbal training. For example, humans love to play tug-of-war with a puppy. To us it's merely a game, but to the puppy, it's a test of who will be dominant. Ms. Morn suggests alternative games that will strengthen your relationship with your puppy and not be competative.

Even though serious concepts are presented, the book is quite easy to both read and understand (I use it with children in our county 4H program). Many subjects are covered from obedience, potty training, crate training, and aggression, to name just a few. Also, a good number of illustrations (sometimes humorous) are presented to make various points.

Perhaps the best reference that I can give is what the book has done in my own life. I was previously training dogs using 'negative reinforcement' but felt that there was somehow a better way. After reading one of the early editions of her book, I applied the principles to my own dog Mika, a rough tri-Collie. The difference in her attitude became the difference between night and day! From September's method of training, Mika now has many titles/certificates in such areas as obedience, temperament, therapy and others. She is also an "Instructor Dog", going with me into the ring and providing the example of correct behavior.

Training people and dogs has now become a passion for me; thanks to her book, I have progressed to advanced obedience instructor (teaching public obedience courses) and am the head advisor of a 4H club that specializes in dogs and pet therapy. I have incorporated her principles into the classes that I teach and, after working with several hundred students, have concluded that they enjoy both a higher rate of success and a closer bond between themselves and their dogs.

I tell people that the "Bible" changed my life the first time and "Dogs Love to Please..." changed it the second time. If you want to change the lives of both yourself and your dog, then this book is for you.

This is a great book with excellent and little or not cost games and toys for cats. I have tried 4 games already and I just recieved the book. Pita Puss had a great time! and I did too. He really enjoyed the shoe box ride and he already plays in water so the bobbing for vegi's was a big hit. If you have a cat this is a must for you. Know anyone with a cat they will really enjoy this book as a gift. The illustrations are great and the writing is witty and fun to read. Try it you will like it!

Dominique Barbier's philosophy takes riding to a new level!! Acknowledging the spiritual nature of the horse-human relationship Barbier encourages to take the leap and explore equestrian art as a play of higher consciousness. Complicated mechanical concepts are replaced by brilliantly simple techniques that bring a newfound lightness and harmony to the dance.
An awe-inspiring book that you want to read over and over!!!

Dominique Barbier takes the reader to an almost spiritual place in his expansive explanation of the sport and art of dressage. Almost certainly, the reader will come to understand the horse and the human connection to the horse through this reading. Barbier's explanation of the movements is clear and often brilliantly basic. A compassionate rider of any level will benefit from this work. It is also the kind of book one would want to read again and again for inspiration.

I love the Hank the Cowdog books. I've read almost all of them. This one is number 44 in the series. I would probably say it's the best one I've ever read. The author puts a song or poem in every book. The one in this story isn't really either of them but a toung twister instead, that has only three words in it but keeps getting repeated over and over again. You should read it because Hank is absolutely laugh your socks off FUNNY!

I had no idea so much could be done with so little. This was an excellent investment!

This book was an excellent help to me in planning how I can introduce the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to my religious education class. It is simple to follow and easily explained. I bought a second copy to give to my daughter to use with her daughters ages 3 and 5 to introduce them to the wonder and beauty of the Good Shepherd and the Mass. All around our parish I have been recommending it to parents of preschoolers to help them bring the children into the celebration of Mass but also to help them educate their little ones using the parables of Jesus.

I am currently using this book as part of my studies while I am in the training for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. It is as well organized as it can be, being that everything in the program is SO inter-connected. Others who have read this book with no previous experience with the Catechesis are provided with a wonderful insight and some background information. I highly recommend this book and the program itself!

This is a WONDERFUL book. I'm a Sunday School teacher, and I reccomend this book to both parents and grandparents who ask about things they can do in the home to support the faith of their children. The book provides background on the spiritual life of young children, and examples of things that can be done and how to do them - family rituals, children's prayer spaces, etc. It's a great resource and an inspiring read.
