I have bought many different kinds of horse training/riding books and this has been one of the better ones. I find that most books have a lot of pictures but little explaination or little explanation that I can understand. This book was very straight forward. The explanations the author gives are very easy to understand, but not so basic that you feel like he's talking down to you. I also found the illustrations to be very useful. I sometimes find that the pictures in books can be confusing or misleading. The sketches in this book make it very easy to see what the rider is trying to point out.
I have really found this book to be a big help. The ideas are a little different then what I have been used to seeing but they have worked very well. If you are looking for a book that has a lot to offer at a decent price - I really recomend Basic Horse Training!

This book has been very helpful for my teenage daugher. We have read almost every training manual there is. This one has alot of
basic but important information that the others fail to mention.
My daughter and I were actually able to pinpoint some basic training tips that revealed some behaviors of ours that were confusing her horse. I would recommend this book to anyone who is
a newbie and has a horse trained for them. They will be able to
reinforce the training received, so that they can get their money's worth.

My 3.5-year-old son loved this hilarious story about a bossy boy and his disobedient dog. The way that the dog never listens to the orders that the boy is delivering is very amusing and so true to life. We laughed and laughed as we read this story. The ending where the little boy finally thinks up an order that the dog is able to obey works perfectly. We loved the way that they boy wants to celebrate his dog's "goodness" with a hug and some words of praise. The words and the pictures go together perfectly! All in all, this book is a great read and is sure to be a favorite with all children who have pets and those that want one.

Barbara Bottner's latest picture book proves once again how perfectly she understands children. A young boy is desperately trying to train his uncooperative dog. Ignoring command after command, the dog gloriously (and hilariously) avoids compliance. What's a boy to do? -- A perfectly satisfying ending!

How does a little boy train his big, brown, disobedient dog? When the boy commands SIT, his dog jumps up on him and slobbers. When he orders STAY, his dog chases a squirrel. FETCH seems to mean roll over to his dog; COME causes his furry friend to run away. This old canine just can't seem to get the hang of it. He won't give his paw, stay off the furniture, play catch, or stop howling and barking. Finally in total exasperation the boy commands BE BROWN, words his dog just can't ignore..... Barbara Bottner's minimal text, really just one word per page, is highlighted by Barry Gott's charming, bold, bright, and exuberant illustrations, and little ones are sure to giggle and enjoy all the silly antics of boy and dog. Be Brown! is an engaging and entertaining preschool, crowd pleaser, youngsters will beg to "help" you read again and again.

I found this book on exercise to be exactly what I was looking for. The format was easy to read and understand and I was getting useful information from the very first page. There were numerous photographs and illustrations and this made it easier for me to translate this information into an actual workout at the gym.
I have gone to the gym over the years on a fairly consistent basis but I found the Quick Set system has truly reduced my time in the gym while allowing me to obtain new levels of strength. I believe that this will be a method I can stick with for life.
I also appreciated the additional exercises and lifts that were provided as I find challenging my muscles by using different modalities helps to keep my sessions in the gym fresh and therefore I won't become bored and/or lax in my approach to my workout.
The Chapter entitled "Diet is a Four Letter Word" is perhaps my favorite because of the every day common sense approach to eating that is presented. I, myself, had given up on "fad diets" many years ago but I have never had an approach to eating put into writing that just made so much sense. The ten tips for reducing caloric intake that are given have become my new guideling for assesing how and what I am eating.
I truly would recomment this book to anyone who isn't quite sure of how to start or hasn't quite figured out where to go next with their current fitness program. Be Fit Stay Fit was fun to read and what's even better are the results I'm getting by using the suggestions given.

I have always been interested in fitness, having adopted the Atkins eating philosophy into my life and working out on a regular basis. With all the reading and inquiring I have done in the past 30 years, I have found nothing as informative and as easy to understand as this book. All of the usual questions -and even some I have never considered- are answered in a down-to-earth, common-sense manner that is even entertaining. I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter the level of their diet or exercise regime! I would certainly call in to his radio show if I lived in Arizona--he sounds like a fun guy!!

Every dog owner should read this book!

I'm an experienced dog owner who just adopted a 4 year old rescue dog. I decided to go "back to school" and look for some new books to help me train my new dog. I bought three books by Patricia McConnell:
1) How to be the Leader of the Pack...And have your dog love you for it
(a WONDERFUL short primer on having happy relationships with dogs)
2) The Other End of the Leash
(a full-length book about communicating with dogs-- GREAT!!!!)
3) Beginning Family Dog Training
(a very readable, clear, wonderful book on training dogs gently-- it works!! My dog is learning so quickly!)

This is the best author I have ever found for people who want to learn how to train their dogs through understanding effective canine-human communication. Read her books and you will never again try to train your dog through "leash pops", etc.. What a breath of fresh air! Finally, training methods you can feel really, really good about. Fun for dogs and humans. I can't say enough good things about Patricia McConnell!

So simple, so precise.

This is not a book for someone working on a difficult behavior problem, nor is it a doctoral thesis. This is, just as the title says, a beginner's book for family dog training. There are no long explanations of some behavioral malady written in psycho-speak. I am quite sure Dr. McConnell could indeed do that if she wished, as there is no way something so elegantly simple could come from anything less a true expert.

66 pages of useful information. In this day and time, that's hard to find, even in a dog book of 300 pages or more. An easy read, simple, to the point- perfectly fits the title. Should be on every dog owner's bookshelf.

I first read the book when I was four. I am now, at the age of ninteen, a fully qualified obstrician/gynecologist, all because of this book. I have now, of course, read this several times, but it is still like reading it for the first time. As the title implies, my father is David Olive, the editor of this book. I fully recommend this book to anyone who is remotely interested in a profession as a gynecologist.

Sub-Title: Approaches and Technologies to Enhance Organizational Knowledge, Learning, and Performance

This book is the second edition or followup to the authors original book on E-Learning. It is perhaps the most complete analysis on the subject.

Education is in an interesting time. The basic structure of the ecucational system of a teacher and a group of students gathered around him dates from the time of the Greeks. Computer aided instruction where essentially a computer uses some of these same techniques to pass the knowledge of an expert on to students using a computer.

There are, a lot of little steps between the idea and the actuality. Of course there are the mechanics of how to do it. And there is the problem of finding the right teachers. [One military training course, set up by people who have 'been there, done that' teaches things like selecting a candy bar that won't melt in the desert (M&M's?) and how to armor a truck.] There's also playing on the skill that today's game playing kids have learned playing video games. What a way to teach someone how to drive a tank!

This is a book I'd recommend to anyone interested in or in charge of setting up a computer based training program. Dr. Rosenberg has 'been there, done that' in so far as e-learning is concerned.

I have been using this book for grad course at Roosevelt U. Most books used for the classroom are dry and outdated, but I found "Beyond E-learning" informative and innovative. I would highly recommend this book to all Learning and Development professionals. If this wasn't a very good book, I would take the time to write this blurb.

Essential reading for managers of smart enterprises
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-15
Once again, Marc Rosenberg shows us the way to really transform our organizations into efficient, effective knowledge-centered enterprises. He warns that e-Learning, like training in general, is often done the wrong way, for the wrong reasons. He busts myths right and left (the section on "the myths of e-Learning" alone is worth the purchase price!), and steadfastly refuses to be swept along by fads, technologies -- or even traditions of training.

What Rosenberg does is to lay out a vision of the Smart Enterprise, in which the focus is on performers rather than learners. He argues persuasively that technologies such as e-Learning, classroom learning, knowledge management, communications and collaboration technologies are best viewed not as individual technologies (or fads), but rather as complementary parts of a balanced strategy for performance improvement in enterprises which effectively translate data to knowledge to information to performance. Detailed chapters then discuss each of the key components of this strategy for performance improvement, including practical advice on how to implement them and where the pitfalls are. Examples and issue sidebars featuring luminaries in the field and corporate success stories add weight to the argument.

This is not just another "business book of the month" full of quick-fix half-truths. It is a mature, broad and comprehensive view of what it really takes to make any knowledge-intensive organization get what it needs to reach its goals. Senior line organization managers will find it essential; training managers will find it liberating and exhilerating -- or threatening. It's required reading for everyone responsible for making their enterprises smart.

Greetings,

I just wanted to send you a note to say what a wonderful product you have created in the "Beyond Sales" Marketing program and website.

I am a RE/MAX Real Estate agent going into my sixth year of practice. I have built my business to a respectable level by most standards, however I know I can do more.

In the previous five years I have spent more money than I would care to admit on various programs to "Boost productivity and increase earnings".

Let me just say that this is the last program I will ever need to purchase. It truly is a complete business plan. I have shared this with my accountant and mentor (who holds a Masters in Business from Northwestern University) and he too was duly impressed.

I have already begun implementation of this business plan and could not be happier. I would recommend this program to any agent looking for personal accountability and wishing to seriously increase their revenue.

Thank you,

In my first few months as a real estate salesperson I listened to a few coaches hoping to find what I needed to get started in the business. What I found was a lot of how great and successful those coaches were and not a lot of what I needed to do to achieve their success. After listening to them I was still left with the mystery of how to recreate their success myself. It was like they didn't want to tell me the answers but promised me more in their continuing programs.

There was something completely different about Trae Zipperer's Beyond Sales approach. It was clear in the first few minutes of listening to the cd that Trae was going to tell me something I could use. He said what I needed to hear in plain English and with no mystery about it. Beyond Sales gives me the nuts and bolts to build my career into a productive and successful business. Thank you Trae for telling me straight out what I need to know and leaving the mystery for late night tv.

Robert Bussey gained international fame when he became one of only a select few to undergo training in Togakure-ryu Ninjutsu in the 1970's. His contemporary approach to the traditional art set him apart from the others. It was his disgarding of the religious ties within the system that changed the face of martial arts forever. With that in his past he forged ahead developing new and progressive methods for physical combat while enlightening others to the notion that christianity and personal defense go hand-in-hand. I've been there along side Mr. Bussey for nearly nineteen years. I earned my Black Belt Instructor Chieftain Status directly under Mr. Bussey's tutelage and can say that he has produced some of the finest christian warriors the world has ever seen. This book is a must for anyone seeking their place as a christian in the world of the martial arts.

I am a Division one track and field athlete. I have been looking for an out of season lifting program that will help make me stronger and faster. I was never a fan of these core lifts until I bought this book. The variation that is available really caught my attention. For example, the power clean has been an exercise that I refuse to do and this book offers many other options. Instead I perform a hang clean. So far, I think that this program will do nothing but improve my athletic ability.

They will probably have many pets in their lives but since they are only 3 and 5 now they will not remembers many of the special moments of their first pet Blackie. My husband and I are using The Book of My Pet to capture the life of Blackie so our boys can look back on the joys and responsibilities of caring for their first dog and share it with their kids when they grow up. I know lots of pet owners who would get into this. The design is handsome, not overly cutesy like some. The memory-jogging prompts are v. good...some funny, some reflective, some factual. I like the way they are organized into chapters with subsections: 1. How to Write Your Pet's Story 2. Starting Out (Getting Ready, How We Met, Family Tree) 3. The First Year (Settling In, Getting to Know My Pet, Making & Breaking the Rules) 4. The Prime of Life (Personality, Pleasures, Habits & Health, Talents) 5. When I was a child and then a young mother, keeping a "baby book" of those born into the family was common. It was a way of documenting the events of the life of this important person and celebrating his/her uniqueness. The Book of My Pet offers that kind of possibility for the beloved animals who become significant parts of our families. This book evokes those memories you might forget by asking thoughtful questions in many categories. The whole family can participate in creating this remembrance at anytime in the life of your pet. It is also possible to mount pictures in the book to make it a visual as well as verbal story of your shared life with this mysterious, special being. I am using it to tell the story of Gray, our cat who has graciously taken us into her life.
