John Roat's book demonstrates the toughness and determination that was required in the early days of SEAL training.
I enjoyed the way that he describes in great detail the training that he went through. It's like you are right there with him.
Also, there are many stories about their "interactions" with their instructors.
I especially appreciated the last chapter in the book where the author describes, by observing the training the candidates currently go through, the differences in training between then and now. The training now has causes less long-term damage to the body, especially to the knees (the duck-walk was a favorite of the instructors back then).
Above all as you read the book you can see his loyalty, after all these years, to his team members.

This was written for my Classmates and like them it has brought me nothing but joy. The book comes from the heart, theirs and mine. I've been pleased to hear how much help the book was for some in getting through BUD/S. I do love the questions from young men who aspire to become Team Members so feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer.

If you were a fan of the ABA growing up this is the book for you. For some reason I just loved the ABA. To read about the beginning of the league and all the trials and tribulations the league went through is funny. Players I remember as a kid come to life. The Doctor, Lou Dampier, Dan Issel, Artis Gilmore, Laverne Tart. They are all here. The only challenge is that the book is narrated by many former participants and at times it is hard to remember who each person was. However, this is a minor criticism. This was a great book to read and brought back a lot of memories.

If Amazon was really on the ball, they would pair this book together with "Going Long," the book about the old AFL - both are entertaining, hilarious at times, and just great reads - you start to see a connection between the leagues in a way, the startup antics, the dubious franchises, and the hilarious happenings. If you are a sports fan or not, you have to get this book - it is hilarious and an absolute joy to read!

Before 24-hour sports coverage on cable TV and back in the day when a basketball fan was lucky to get one nationally-televised NBA game per week, there was an upstart league with a flashy basketball, flashier players and paychecks that oftentimes bounced higher than the ball.
Terry Pluto, a long-time sports columnist for the Akron Beacon-Journal, captures the crazy times and legendary personalities on the court and in the front offices in this oral history of the American Basketball Association.
It was a league that hit the NBA where it was most vulnerable; signing players to contracts that were unheard of at the time. For example, Mel Daniels - a number one draft pick in both leagues - opted to play in the ABA and became one of the all-time greats. There were renegades like Rick Barry and the sky-walking dunks of "Dr. J," Julius Erving, arguably the greatest player of his era.
The league went straight to the heart of the NBA for its first commissioner, hiring George Mikan as a means to gain credibility in the eyes of the stodgy national sports media. Larry Brown and Doug Moe were ABA players before becoming pro coaches. And - if nothing else - who could beat franchise names like the New Orleans Buccaneers, Minnesota Muskies, the Spirits of St. Louis and the San Diego Conquistadors (with Wilt Chamberlain as player/coach)?
Though the final few years of operation - with a merger inevitable and the league consolidating its shrinking resources - became an abrupt climax to the ABA, the teams and players that made the jump to the NBA made for a dramatic leap in the quality of the game & it can be argued set the pace for the style and grace of Magic, Michael, Dominique and LeBron.

P.H. Mullen's Gold in the Water is a story that i first came into contact with a couple years ago. It is a fast paced true tale about average men trying to accomplish their goals. Reading the story over and over has helped me get through the hard times in and out of the pool. You don't need to be a swimmer to appreciate this story, but it does help. As I am in film school now, this is one story that can inspire more people then Remember the Titans with the Olympic power of Miracle. I encourage every athlete, Olympic fan, parent, or anyone who has a goal to accomplish to buy a copy of this book and one for their coach or mentor. It is a book to read over and over again.

I didn't find this book to be very helpful. It seems to be geared to having a pack of dogs as opposed to a single dog.
Either my dog is incredibly bright (okay, he is) or the book implies that dogs need far more training than I have found it to be for my dog.
My dog is completely blind. It happened over a period of a couple of months. He does very well at home and away and does not require all the aids the book suggests a blind dog might need.

My senior dog recently lost most of her vision. This book is excellent in providing ideas that work to help her navigate in the house, down the stairs and outside. The rug at the top and bottom of the steps helps her find her way and the scents added to certain door frames allowed her to find her way in and out of rooms without bumping her head or causing panic. I recommend this book to anyone who has blind or sight impaired animals.

Comprehensive Overview of Running, but with Noakes' specific views as well.

This is a broad, sweeping view of running, primarily from the marathon and up. Noakes covers history, physiology, current runners, ethnographic issues, and several other topics. It is very readable and each chapter is well edited, so that it can stand alone.
Noakes own views also comes through - over-training did in Bedford and Hill. My only comment is that over-training does in every runner, but perhaps this is the cost of burning brighter rahter than longer.
There are several other subjects that can be lumped into all the other various purveyors of training thought - Hadd, Lydiard, Daniels, Canova. They are all directly or indirectly addressed here.
This is the ONLY comprehensive text touching on virtually the entire spectrum of issues surrounding running which I have found. Noakes has his opinions, but this in no way detracts from this fine read.

VERY detailed and explains WHY certain training recommendations are made. I'm a physician and was surprised how technical this book was. If you are not scientifically minded, this is still a great reference, but do not plan to read this cover to cover unless you took a lot of biology in college. I have used this book for help with an injury and the recommendations and explanations seem very sound. If you are merely looking for training schedules, there are other places to find them, but this book has a wide variety of "formulas" for race preparation. For serious runners, this book is a bargain. Probably cheaper and more useful than any running shoes or other equipment you are putting on your wish list.

Noakes's book on the "Lore of Running" covers just about everything, from what happens inside your muscles to training plans for various races, from biographies of great runners to how to stretch. Noakes seems to be writing both for the runner who wants a deeper understanding of the sport, and for the runner's trainer.
Despite the specialized nature of some of the subject matter, Noakes's writing is quite readable. If you like endurance reading and endurance running, treat yourself to this book.

... A book that comprehensively covers the physiology and biochemistry of running. The volume is exceptionally well written, also a first for a book about the science and theory of running. There are some issues with redundancy and some parts of the book that seem a little out of place (training plans to Walk/Run a 5k?). I think if the reader is interested in this level of detail, that they have most likely been running for some time. Some reviewers complain about the long chapter on the history of great runners. The book is, however, called the "Lore" of running - not the 'science of running.' I found that particular chapter to be especially motivating, personally. As the tagline suggests, this book is a MUST for the serious runner or coach.
Phenomenal book on running, best I've come across.

I have been reading about running for the past couple of years--probably more than I ought to. I came upon this book recently in the library (most of my reading is online!) and upon poring through its pages have realized that a lot of what I've read either came from this book, or this book has a lot of what I've read in it. Noakes has written this tome relying upon the best science we have for running with all of its available studies. He bases his conclusions and statements on journal articles where possible and where not does not go overboard in conjecture.
He is an accomplished marathoner and ultra marathoner and in his practice has treated a lot of runners.
Go ahead and buy any book on running. It will have a section on nutrition with the basics that we all know. Contrast with the nutrition section in this and it's actually worth reading; he spends many pages on such details as the proper sodium levels in a beverage, the amount of liquid we need to drink while exercising (not the vague catch-all of "drink as much as you sweat"). His guides on injury and footware are the best researched I've found anywhere.
This is not just the best book on running I've seen, it's the best book _by far_.
I slight this book in two areas:
1) Injury treatment seems to be really slanted substantially toward footwear and orthotics. Now, there may be a reason for that I'm not aware of, and he does give time to exercises and "holistic" approches for injury prevention, including training the hips for, say, a knee problem and not just the feet, but I would have just preferred a bit more.
2) Running technique. He describes in detail the typical heel-strike of most runners but doesn't spend much time that I have found on particulars of technique, such as possibly forefooting or midfooting. Bits and pieces are throughout the book in this, but a subsection on what is now in vogue (pose technique, chirunning, etc.) would have been nice. I don't know that it's reasonable to dismiss these simply because he feels they're useless; I feel like he missed out.
That said, I really can't stress enough how much solid, quality stuff is in this book. He's not simply taking what "everyone knows" about running and making a thousand pages out of it; he does go into meaningful detail.

This one book will change your energy, change your life and unleash the abundance of creative energy in your life and in your business.
We are nothing more that a total energy system of parts. The water you drink, the money you have, your cash flow, your shirt, shoes and socks, the lunch you ate, the things you think about, your feelings and emotions are nothing more than energy. Energy Leadership shows us how to take back control of our lives and business.
We all know that everything (including us) are made up of atoms and smaller sub-atomic particles of energy. What is between the nucleus and it's orbiting electrons is NOTHING or Empty space. There are countless atomic particles making up everything we see, touch, hear, taste. That table in front of you looks totally solid and is nothing but moving waves of potential and possibility, energy! Your employees, your bank account, your corporate logo, your way of being with your customers, your failures, successes, the things that happen to you, around you and through you is nothing more than energy, energy that you have a say in, energy that you can control, change and move up to an abundance of anabolic circumstances and conditions in and around your business and life. Galileo, Copernicus... now Dr. Bruce D. Schneider bring the magic of assessing, understanding and using our god given energy to increase our health, effectiveness, wealth, love and joy in everything we do.
This is a masterpeice of work and nothing compares with its brilliance and everyday language so the non-scientist can understand and benefit from Energy Leadership.
Understanding that energy has an impact in your world as do microwaves, xrays, MRI's and laser beams and now Dr. Schneider teaches us how to access that inherent energy within us to be Leaders energetically to be, have and do anything we want.
This is amazing work and the Energetic Self Preception Chart clearly show us and lead us up the ladder from Level 1 Victim Energy to Level 7 Creation and Wisdom Energy. Step by step we are lead into a world beyond our widlest dream where money, business success, unconditional love and joy reside.
Every CEO and World Leader needs to read this book!!
I have handed this book to all of my clients, prospects, family, friends and the people I care about. Give it away and together we will transform the workplace making work a more joyous and eventful experience for all.

I recommend Energy Leadership by Bruce D. Schneider. This is an excellent book about a business owner who brings his company from the brink of bankruptcy to transformative success. I really enjoyed this book because, for me, it is actually about spirituality. While you may not think of it this way, our spirituality is expressed mostly when we are engaged in the activities of our daily lives.
What can be more engaging than the mundane process of everyday business life? I invite you to broaden your perspective of business to include, for example, what a parent has to do to get their child off to school with lunch and motivate him or her to do homework and chores when they get home; or what it takes for a single person to open their eyes in the morning, get up, go out and face the day of work or school with all of the activities scheduled to be faced on that day.
In all cases, this represents leadership, and I am asserting that the task before us is to discover what is spiritual in every activity we face. Bruce shows us how to empower ourselves, to raise our level of consciousness and thereby discover that spiritual content in every moment. I hope you will take that journey and read Bruce D. Schneider's Energy Leadership!

Energy Leadership is a ground-breaking work. It takes the reader on a unique journey of transformation; one that every person can relate to on some fundamental level. What I love about this book is that it delivers important information on how our energy impacts the totality of our lives through the use of an allegorical story. This engages both our logical and creative mind in a highly effective way. If you loved Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth," you'll really love this book!

First of all, I found this book to be very motivating and fun to read, and I like the way the author emphasizes the anti-aging benefits of strength-training for all adults, regardless of your age or gender. I also like the fact that the author emphasizes the importance of achieving high intensity when performing any strength-training exercise. I also have no doubt that this book and workout plan is of great value to anyone who is new to weight-lifting.
But to think that this the only workout plan you'll ever need, as some reviewers here have implied, is misleading. One problem is that all of the weight-lifting exercises in this plan involve the use of dumbbells only, based upon Shawn Phillips' belief that dumbbells are safer than other free weights, such as barbells. But you'll never fully develop your muscles (either strength-wise or size-wise) if you rely on dumbbells alone. There's no way that dummbbell exercises alone can fully develop your hamstrings, or your lats, or your glutes, or your hip abductor muscles, or your quadriceps, etc. Even your biceps and triceps cannot be fully developed as a result of using dumbbells alone, surprising at that may seem! So if you limit yourself to dumbbells alone, you will never fully develop your physique. In sum, as are result of this approach, a lot of important exercises are left out of this plan.
Additionally, even though Shawn justifiably emphasizes the importance of intensity in terms of getting maximum results in minimum time, he never really provides the right definition for intensity in his book; the "right" defintion being one that works in both theory and practice, and one that can actually be applied practically in an accurate, reliable and efficient way. But then no published book (that I know of) has ever provided us with that right definition for intensity. Even Schwarzenegger doesn't provide us with the right definition for intensity in his book. The only book that I know of that provides the right definition for intensity (as it relates to strength-training)is a book that I wrote myself. But unfortunately, I've never had the book published. Bill Phillips does provide a definition for intensity in the glossary of his book "Body For Life", but the definition he provides, although not incorrect, is way too vague and inadequate for practical application. And that's the problem with virtually all of the definitions for intensity that have been given to us over the years, even by the pros. And the problem is that if you don't have the right definition for intensity to begin with, you won't know which strategies work best to maximize the intensity of every exercise that you do. And if you fail to do that, you simply will not get maximum results in minimum time, which I believe is what virtually everyone desires in the ideal strength-training plan.
In sum,I like Shawn's book,I like his positive, motivating upbeat manner. I'm sure that this book and the workout plan is of great value to many people, especially beginners, who may not know any of the information contained within. But the workout plan is incomplete, which is why I gave it three stars instead of four or five. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good book or workout plan. It just doesn't provide you all that you need to know to get the body that you desire.

What a GREAT book! The book is a quick read and is loaded with sensible fitness and nutrition information that just makes sense. I'd like to put emphasis on the fact that this information JUST MAKES SENSE. Above all this book makes you believe that you CAN make a change in yourself!
Over the years work, family, house chores, fast food, and hobbies have taken the place of fitness. About a year ago I realized I had let myself go. After five+ years of treating my body like "an ole honky-tonk" (a line from Kenny Chesney) it's hard to flip on the fitness switch. I tried several different training programs, aerobics, and a couple of other things but nothing stuck. I tried these programs and I just couldn't get motivated enough to make them successful.
Strength for Life did something for me - it sparked a motivation that I haven't felt in years. I'm inspired, I'm excited, and I'm ready to transform!

First, I must say that this book has a lot of good information and good advice. However, there is nothing new in the Strength For Life plan. What you will learn from this book has already been published by others for years. The author just puts his personal twist on things. We all know we should get at least 7 hours of sleep, eat balanced meals, and have a positive attitude in life and this is basically what the author is saying.
There are a couple of areas where this book goes against years of proven science and this is where the readers should do themselves a favor and research nutrition and exercise in depth.
It is proven science that aerobic exercise is the best bet for disease prevention and fat burning but the author seems to have some kind of issue here. Don't get me wrong because strength training is very important to overall health in its proper place.
The author also believes in eating 5 meals a day instead of 3 but just to make things easier for you he pushes his very own nutrition drink almost as if he is the one that came up with nutritional drinks. Excuse me if I am wrong but SlimFast has been around for decades.
There are Billions of dollars spent year after year on products that offer the answer to all lifes weight and nutrition problems. This book is another one of those products that will be used for a few months and then just collect dusk.
Save your money.
UPDATE- I just checked out Shawn Phillips website and found out the cost of his "Full Strength" nutritional drink is $3.89 per serving. Thats almost $8.00 a day. Folks please don't allow these kind of people to take your hardearned money. RESEARCH is your key to fitness. This key is free and I pray that you will use it instead of falling for any more scams.

Amazing book! Whether you are preparing to take the Internal Medicine boards for the first time or preparing for recertification, this is an
excellent resource. It is well-organized, concise, and comprehensive. Definitely a must-have for anyone interested in internal medicine. Highly
recommend! Thorough, beautifully-organized, and extremely well-written! Get this book....You won't be disappointed! A must have for all the
internal medicine residents!!! Extraordinarilly structured questions and even better explanation focused on the highlight topics in internal
medicine. If you are reading this, you are probably preparing for an ABIM internal medicine exam in addition to all your other duties. There is
never enough time, is there? Well, I was preparing for the ABIM recertification exam, since I'd finished residency. I had slogged through the
Medstudy review book over the course of five months, dutifully going over every page.... Tres painful. There were three weeks left before the
exam, and I figured I'd give this book a try. I quickly discovered how ignorant I was, despite doing the Medstudy book review. My friend taught
me a lot of critical care medicine way back when, and use Frontrunners Internal Medicine Syllabus and Internal Medicine Q&A Review, syllabus
companion for the board review and Turbo Mnemonics. Excellent materials to prepare you to pass the CERTIFICATION EXAM and Recertification exam.
The questions are well-written, and the answers give you really good feedback. The questions are highly relevant, reflecting what the ABIM wants
you to know. I got my pass notice from the ABIM today. I would recommend this book to anyone preparing for the boards.

I have been using both Medstudy and Frontrunners as an adjunct to board review for my recertification. Medstudy is by far more superior as it has a more comprehensive review of each topic, whereas Frontrunners is very abbreviated and in outline form in its review. The questions in Frontrunners are also very unsophisticated, lots of matching and not many case presentations. Finally, try to call customer service or contact the company through the phone number or e-mail on the website, the e-mail link didn't work for me, and it took several days to get a call back, no one answers except a machine even though it gives liberal hours for being open. All in all, the product strikes me as being crude. If you like an outline style and already have some other more comprehensive text, then you might like it, but its quite pricey, even for what it is.

As the Educational Director for our residency and a practicing internist, I found this to be hands-down the best resource out there as far as a database of old exam questions in prepping the internal medicine boards. We also found that the book to which this is a companion (i.e. Frontrunners Syllabus), was extraordinary in laying out all the key material in a nicely-organized, concise, and outlined format offering "recently and commonly asked material". Together, these 2 books form the core of our own ABIM Certification residency training program and were mission-critical to getting our perfect pass rates last year. [...]

My partner and I studied together this time, as we'd both missed the mark terribly on several prior administrations of the exam. We both passed easily owing in large part to this book. (incidentally, we found the book samples far easier to read (translation: not blurry) and far easier to evaluate from their main site). The outlined and user-friendly layout of the syllabus, with its boxed-in/bolded/starred points really made a huge difference and we saw the starred points ALL over the exam. We also owe our success on the exam to the 1300 Q&A book, which gives a massive number of old exam questions. We also found the Slide Shows (CD) essential for all the image questions, EKGs, etc. Bottom line, we're extremely happy we found this curriculum, and we're equally happy to have this exam behind us (finally). We easily score this curriculum a zealous four thumbs up.
Recipe for success ...

This is a must-have for the I.M. CERT exam. The starred items, my favorites, pointed to recently asked material, which made my studying alot more enjoyable. In my opinion, nothing comes close to Frontrunners' review. My partners used it for their internal medicine RECERT and were equally pleased. As for me, I wouldn't have passed without it. Make sure you get through it at least twice before the exam since there was a load of material on the exam right out of the syllabus. I also went hit all of Frontrunners practice Q&A for the I.M. boards and got both from their www.frontrunners.info website (they had samples there, etc). In my opinion, if you're serious about passing or want to excel, you'd be foolish NOT to get a copy of these, even from a friend, before sitting for the exam.

Gincy Self Bucklin is the trainer I wish I had had all these years I've spent riding! I have been training with qualified instructors for 18 years, and I have still learned SO much from this book. I cannot say enough about this book and its sequel. This book is wonderful and it FAR exeeded my expectations. I only wish I had these books when I first began riding - I could have saved so much time, trouble and bad habits!

I reccommend this book to everyone who rides and loves horses, whatever level, whatever style. I first bought it because, in my youth having ridden wonderfully kind horses that pretended like I knew how to ride, I wanted to get back into riding when I was in my late fifties. After a year of lessons with a well-qualified instructor, the school horse I was riding got fed up with my mistakes and sent me sailing. Two operations and two years of physiotherapy later, I went back, just to make a point. It took me a year to get back to about where I was before the accident. Then I hit a block. I didn't seem to be making any progress, in spite of two or three lessons a week. That is when i read this book and a lot of lights came on. Gincy's "active hand" transformed an irritated,head-tossing horse to a calm, attentive partner. Once I grasped her explanation of lateral centering, the horses I rode stopped cutting corners. My instructor and the people I ride with started paying me compliments on my position and my progress. I continue to read and reread her books, and the lights are still coming on. Some people may complain about the detail, but if that's the particular problem you're working on, you want all that detail. Someone commented that Gincy writes for instructors, to help them be better teachers, but if you don't have an instructor, or if he knows it all and doesn't think he has to read books, students can learn directly from the book. As Gincy mentions, many instructors know what you should be doing, but don't know how to explain to a student how to do what is an automatic reflex for an advanced rider. It's certainly helped me to understand why my instructor was always saying "shoulders back, heels down!" etc. I reccommend it to my friends, but as someone else mentioned, it's not a book you can lend, because it doesn't come back. And perhaps the best thing about the book is Gincy's wonderful attitude towards horses and understanding their behavior. I found that Gincy accomplishes everything she set out to do in her introduction.

How Your Horse Wants You to Ride: Starting Out, Starting Over
If our horses could have a verbal conversation with us, it would be about how they want us to ride on their backs. So, if that is the information you are looking for, this book will do that for you. Coming to horses late in life, with only weekend trail riding and no ownership in my background, learning to train my horse and ride her has, at times, been overwhelming. All bad habits that horses have are from bad training, not from stubbornness or naturally occurring mean spiritedness. Every interaction we have with our horses teaches them something, good or bad. Gincy is a patient person, I know from interacting with her on her Riding with Confidence list group on Yahoo. She has great insights into muscle memory, fear, breathing, etc. and the way those things cause horses to react in one way or another. How Your Horse wants you to ride is not a quick fix answer. It is deep and thoughtful requiring work on the part of the owner/rider. The reward is as great and worth striving for. After all, if you have a horse, you want to have fun with it, not be fearful of it.

This book has inspired me to work on bareback exercises this summer to retrain my balance. I'm sure my horse will thank me. Having ridden with the author when I was a teenager (40 years ago), I remember the value of the bareback riding after this book reminded me. I have tried to read Sally Swift's "Centered Riding" but just didn't engage me. This book has and I will be applying the lessons to myself.

I started riding quite late in my life and this book has been a great help to me. Whenever I encounter a problem I consult it again and it always gives me new ideas which work. I like especially the mixture of at home, on the ground and on the horse exercises. You can try basics safely first before you mount your horse. I am a Western rider and although its focus is English riding I was able to use it.

I just recently acquired a somewhat shy mini-dachshund and needed instruction on how to assist him in overcoming his apprehensions. Various sources on line recommended "Help for Your Shy Dog" by Deborah Wood. I bought it, as well as this book by Nicole Wilde. The Deborah Wood book was a complete waste of time - no details were included on how I should proceed with my dog on anything, only just what amounted to a bunch of cheerleading (e.g., "with patience even you can do it!"). This Nicole Wilde Book, however, contains all the protocols you need to follow for virtually any kind of fear a dog might have. I highly recommend it for anyone with a shy dog, or any kind of dog for that matter. After reading this book, I am now making huge progress with my dog's apprehensions, and feel well equipped to deal with any fear that may come up in the future.

If I had found this book a few months ago, I could have saved a lot of money. This book has ALL of the advice that I received from several sessions with a trainer and from a veterinary behaviorist! I learned a lot more, too.
This book has everything you need to know about a scared dog, whether the dog is aggressive or hiding under the bed. The book has great advice about recognizing a scared dog, training, leadership, toys & treats that motivate, medications, food, complementary therapies, understanding a scared dog's motivation, and exercise.

One of the best dog books ever!

I purchased this book at a seminar. I couldn't wait to get to my room and dig in to it! I was not disappointed! As a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant, I am always looking for new and better ways to handle behavior problems. This book is full of great suggestions. I think every dog trainer should have this book as part of their reference library.
I have been asked by a local community college to prepare a course on canine behavior problems and how to correct them. This book will be one of my textbooks. The information contained in this book is clear, concise, and to the point. It is presented in a manner that makes the reader feel comfortable enough with the material to put it into practice.
I would recommend this book to anyone that owns a dog. Furthermore, it would make a great gift for that neighbor with a fearful dog. If you are a trainer, make sure this book is on your shelf; make sure the pages are well read!

I'm a sucker for a story, and John Carl Roat knows how to tell one. He has one of the most incredible writer's voices I've ever encountered. It's like sitting with him over coffee and listening to him spin yarn after yarn about the earliest days of SEAL training.
Roat's dry and often wry sense of humor had me laughing out loud on every page. Endearingly willing to admit to his own human shortcomings, Roat sees the humanity in others. In a few strokes he captures those essential elements of character that make a reader care. Over and over I cheered, and sometimes, I cried.
In one memorable scene, in which another trainee reaches back to give Raot a hand over an obstactle course, Roat talks about how the trainees themselves in subtle ways played a part in who made the grade and who didn't.
Other books about SEAL training will give you detail, endless detail, about SEAL training today, but no other will make you understand so well what makes a man become a SEAL, and what becoming a SEAL makes of a man.
