I took this test years ago and going to re take it, so I thought I would get a book to help me study. This book is awesome. It wasn't around in the 80's when I took it the first time. Anyway, it teaches you short cuts to save time and gain speed, which you definately have to have. This is a must have if you plan on taking the postal exam. I just wish I could get my hands on some more pencils as my son and I are both planning on taking this together.

Highly recommended!!!

I purchased this and another comprehensive Postal exam prep guide. I received the other exam guide first and started their study program. When T.W. Parnell's-"Postal Exam Training" guide arrived, I quickly saw that it was much more current, (last copywrite-2000); the strategies provided were superior. This guide is also much better organized than the other Exam Guide I purchased. T.W. Parnell's Postal Exam Training guide is the one to buy.

I've read most of the postal exam books currently out and I've come to a conclusion: This is the only one you need. This book got me up to speed on the matching section, taught me to get through the memory section with minimal tears, and also gave plenty of practice with the listening and pattern sections (although those sections aren't nearly as hard as the memory section, it's good to know what you're up against before you go in for the test.)

I didn't buy the entire kit - if you have the extra money, go for it, but it isn't necessary. However, it *is* necessary to time yourself when you do the practice tests. That's the only way you'll know what kind of pacing you're dealing with.

If you're preparing to take the postal exam, buy this book. I scored 100% on my test (no veteran's pts) and had a job within five months.

I scored a 100 on the Postal Exam!

I will recommend this book highly. I purchased it, followed its stategies and did all the practice examinations. I have just received my Postal Service "Notice of Rating." My rating: 100.00. Now if that isn't testimonial I don't know what is. I must share that the actual Postal testing session I participated in had about 60 people. After the exam, EVERYONE claimed to have finished about 1/2 of the first 2 sections. I completed 92/95 and 85/88 questions on each section. Frankly, I blew this test away. Buy this book and good luck to you.

This is a great book. I started running again at 49 years of age and thought that I should just be able to go out and run, when it wasn't working well I was discouraged. After reading this book I have a whole new routine and feel great. Even have the right size and type of shoes. I have recommended it to several other people.

As a former late 40's, near-obese person I have been having a great deal of success with this program, since starting in mid-November. Each week I see better results and have been able to do more running. My suggestion for anybody purchasing this book is to follow the program as written and not to try to do too much too soon. As a "want it now" society, we tend to neglect the importance of time with things such as weight loss. Be patient--it will happen! Happy running!

I thought that running was the most boring sport on the planet. I was more of a sprinter short term running sport person. For some reason I picked up this book and became enthralled by it. It made me understand the mechnaics of running and why Mr. Galloway loves it. To the point now where I run every other day, I look in the book to determine what I need to do before race day, what to eat etc. In essence love the book and I was not a runner until I read this book.

I am going on a cruise in June and would love to be in a 2 piece suit, while not scaring others. So I found this book and decided to give it a try. I am on Week 4 and have lost about 50% of my belly. You will be challenged and I spent the first two weeks eating Ibuprofen, but it is totally worth it!! The exercises are deceptively easy - you feel it the next day though. Totally worth the money and time. It would be nice if there was a DVD for the Pilates portion of the workout so you learn to do them correctly.

Karon Karter is my favorite pilates instructor and writer. I have been taking her class for two years and feel stronger and more in balance than ever before. I was particularly surprised that pilates has improved my running by helping me to develop a stronger core and leg muscles. I recommend any of Karon's books and this one is especially great now that we're heading into summer. Karon's positive focus and beautiful photos illustrating each move will help you to stay motivated and increase your fitness level no matter what shape you're in.

I really like this book! The illustrations and full color content are very helpful and keep you moving forward. Each step is fully explained and each week you add a new element to your routine along with some you have done in previous weeks. The only thing I wish was different was that a treadmill was used for many of the cardio sessions. I don't have one, so I used a recumbent bike instead. It was no problem to do this however it was really hard to gauge if you were doing an equal amount. She mentions this in the front of the book and gives some tips to help gauge this, but it still left me wondering. I will definitely keep doing this after the 6 weeks! Nice combination of weights, cardio, pilates!

As a current pilates addict of Karon's, this book is giving me a great way to change up my workout routine to include weights and cardio. I've seen tremendous results from taking her classes, and I'm already seeing the difference that this book is making, in the short time that I've been following it.

If you are looking for an exercise book that is easy to follow and will deliver the results, then this is the book for you!

If you only buy one softball drill book, let this be the one. The drills in this book run the gamut from basic drills for the beginner to advanced drills for the advanced travel ball player. If you are a beginning coach, the drills in this book will help you plan your practices to get the most instruction into a limited amount of time. "Softball Skills and Drills" is a great little book that will stay fresh and relevant as your team grows and matures. Garman knows her stuff!

I have assistant coached my daughters' ASA teams for the past six years, and now I'm an assistant coach of my oldest daughter's jr. high team. I've pretty much learned along the way, picking up ideas and drills from the excellent coaches around me. But I just recently picked this book up and am excited about what I see. It's basic enough for the have-no-clue-but-want-to-learn coach, but there are so many drills here that even experienced coaches will pick up some new ideas. I especially like how the coach is fundamentally sound--the advice can therefore be trusted. I am going to be keeping this book nearby over these next seasons, and perhaps some of these drills will help the girls I coach to be even that much better. I am highly recommending this book for all of us who hope to gain just an inch of an advantage over those who rely merely on gut instinct.

A Great Book for Coaches or Players of any age.

Review Date: 2005-07-21
"Softball Skills & Drills" by Judi Garman is a valuable book for any softball coach or player. I have to admit that I am an inexperienced softball player, who has recently joined a league for recreation. Because I had little knowledge of the game, I bought this book because it is advertised on the cover as "The best book on the basics of the game." In retrospect I think that claim may be a bit of an overstatement because the book does assume a general working knowledge of the mechanics and rules of the game of softball. While these fundamentals are explained in pieces throughout the book, I would have really enjoyed a more thorough overview before Garman raced into chapter one, "Catching." Don't get me wrong: this is a great book, but absolute beginners may also need an even more basic text.

What the book does do superbly is to break down all the fundamental skills of the game of softball and give easy to comprehend (if not to execute, sometimes) explanations, tips, and techniques related to these skills, as well as sets of drills designed to develop those skills. In reading the book (from the viewpoint of a neophyte player) I couldn't help but believe that the single best audience for this book would be coaches. This book would be a positive treasure trove of information for coaches at any level of competition.

I think this is an excellent book, and would have given it five stars if not for the omission of a general introduction, overview, and strategy section that would really help those who need the most basic "basics of the game." As it is, I would like to give it four and a half stars, because it really is an excellent text.

Highly recommended to softball players and coaches everywhere.

The concepts, tools, recommendations, examples, and guidelines presented by Dr. Taran provide practical information for creating effective and instructionally sound training for Web-delivered content. I refer to it often when developing WBTs and when coaching peers as they learn to develop for WBT. Buy it, read it, and implement the strategies and practical tools! Like most instructional designers who support training in the today's workplace, my clients have tremendous expectations of me to develop effective learning products within a quick turnaround and using minimal resources. Finally, a book from someone who understands, first-hand, the challenges we face and addresses them completely.

Real WBT, the way it is supposed to work (not just page-turners), is still a rare find. And, very few of us adults with families have the luxury to go back to school to learn the fundamentals for web design. I personally found this book extremely insightful in educating me on the basics while also coaching me through different development aspects.

Reading Standalone WBT was a stretch for my degree of WBT knowledge and experience. I have continued to utilize this book as an invaluable reference tool as I continue to advance my WBT skills. I recommend it to anyone seeking guidance for developing web-based training products that can actually meet learning objectives with or without the use of an instructor.

This is a great resource that summarizes different aspects of Web-based development, including project management, site architecture, content presentation, instructional design techniques, and motivational elements. Unlike other books related to online training, this resource has a sharp focus: standalone Web-based training, which involves only the interaction between the user and the computer, with no educational agents present. If you are looking for a book that comprises all the guidelines you need in order to develop effective standalone WBT, this is definitely the resource to get.

As an Instructional Designer who is fairly new to developing web-based training courses, Standalone WBT is an invaluable reference for me as I build my skills. It is very comprehensive and the author has done her share of research on the newest and most effective techniques in designing and developing effective web-based training. Although the book is research-driven and contains very sound instructional design principles, it is also very practical in its delivery of information. Especially helpful are the real-world examples located throughout the text. For a novice, the chapters on site architecture, content presentation, and instructional design in WBT (chapters 3-5) are extremely helpful and informative. I highly recommend this book as a means to self-study WBT and as a reference tool. I believe that both new and expert WBT designers will benefit from this book.

As a retired police officer from the Washington DC area with over 23 yrs on the job, 15 of which were in SWAT and law enforcement special operations, I highly recommend this book to anyone in our field who wishes to become a better, safer, and more tactically aware operator. Beware of books and author's promising the latest, greatest, advanced tactics. I've never been impressed with a lot " How To " books that get generated by former persons in our line of work, but Erik Lawrence has put together a solid collection of proven tactics and techniques that will produce results. In my unit we used to study every possible way that we could constantly improve our skill sets. What we found is that only a disciplined application of fundamentals will give you the foundation necessary to expand and grow. That is what this book delivers. Mr. Lawrence, with his substantial background and operational knowledge appreciates the same demanding approach to sharp, crisp fundamentals. Additionally, I have trained with Erik and I can promise you that his qualifications as an instructor are among the best out there. Get the book. You won't be sorry.

Review Date: 2008-01-09
We just finished reviewing 10 recent tactical shooting books (2000 to 2008) for an upcoming magazine article, and Lawrence's Tactical Pistol Shooting is light years ahead of all the others, regardless of price.

If you spend $5,000 and go to Gunsite (we teach blade combat as one of the Yavapai modules), you will walk away with almost the same knowledge as buying Lawrence's book for under 20 bucks! Erik covers all the most recent topics and insights, and does it with tons of illustrations, lots of lists, and extremely practical advice for the real world. Even our seasoned NRA instructors are raving about his thoroughness.

There is NO wasted space in this book. Others spend time arguing about stance, quoting philosophy, etc. for "fill." Lawrence PACKS the book with original and unusual professional topics, including gun fighting while injured, knife fighting, and many other unexpected pearls. 8 of the other 10 we reviewed were ok for beginners, this book has enough beef for even the most experienced pro.

The book covers everything from the dogs, patients, health care professionals to the organizations we work with. It also covers therapy certification organizations.

Being a small therapy dog owner and reading about their special needs and outlook of the world, really acknowledged their "special gifts and our obligation" to them as therapy dogs.

I would recommend this book to anyone considering therapy dog work or an experienced therapy dog team.

I can not thank Kris Butler enough for writing this book. I have been a very active dog therapy visiter this last year and visits were going very well until I started visiting a behavior health unit at a local hospital. My boxer dog became very stressed and I was very concerned. After reading Therapy Dogs Today, I became very proactive in how I did my visits to these BH units from what I had learned from this book. The very first visit after reading this book, I could not be happier about how my dog responded to the visit. Once I understood how stressful this environment was for my dog and what were the stressors, I was than able to work on reducing these stressors. Both my dog and I thank you Kris!

The authors have come up with a very unique, intelligent, and efficient approach to bodybuilding. The concepts and routine presented is pretty simple for the most part, and that's the beauty of it.

As others have said, yes, it's a pretty intense program - but if you have the discipline and motivation to follow through with it, it'll certainly pay off for you.

I would suggest this program for people who are at least intermediate or advanced in their training experience and knowledge.

To anyone who is interested in the difference between this program and the previous book, "Big Beyond Belief" - I believe that they are both equally as effective, but this program is a little more efficient.

I've been using Big Beyond Belief (BBB aka Serious Growth III) for several years with excellent results. I recently ordered Titan Training Manual. (BTW. Amazon, you should check the spelling. It's Manual and NOT Manuel. You will probably sell more if you fix the typo.)

You've heard of the old saying "Great things come in small packages." This book fits that description. It's only 79 pages, and the first 33 pages are basically a review of BBB. That means that the last half of this book is geared towards Serious Growth IV. But don't think it's another marketing scheme to sell another product. Leo and his crew put a lot of thoughts into this program. When I first read BBB many years ago, I thought it was unconventional in its approach to bodybuilding. The concept of micro-periodization was foreign to me. But what the heck, the program works, and that's all that matters, right? Titan, on the other hand, is taking bodybuilding to the next level. 4 times a week and that's it. You may think that 4 times a week seems to be crossing the threshold of undertraining - and that's the beauty of it from an efficiency standpoint. Moreover, the concept of micro-periodization has taken another leap in Titan. The three-week ramp plus the three week supergrowth phase (you know what I'm talking about if you have BBB) has been compressed into a one-week phase. Finally, the concept of base and volume training and muscle rounds are introduced in this book. All I can say is that guy Leo is a bodybuilding genius, man.

It's difficult to write a review on bodybuilding books for the obvious fact that one has to be dedicated and disciplined, follow the manual to the T, measure the results, and then write a meaningful review. This process could take months. But as I mentioned, I am very pleased with BBB (as well as thousands of other bodybuilders), so I'm pretty sure this manual will be just as (if not more) effective. I plan to use Titan sometime in April 2008 after I finish BBB.

It's too early for me to judge the effectiveness of this program, so I will just have to come back in Fall of 2008 and submit my final review. In the meantime, keep focused, eat right, and stay away from `roids. They will shrink you wieners and give you zits the size of Texas!!

PS.

Amazon, thanks again for a great service. My book arrived within days.

Okay guys. I promised I was gonna come back sometime in Fall 08 to give my final review. I decided to cut it short. I started Titan on April 4, 2008. Four weeks have gone by and I am happy to report that within this period I have gained 2.40 lbs of muscle and lost 3.90 lbs of fat. I have also been on the Anabolic Diet since February 28, 2008. And if you must know, I have lost a total of 11 lbs of fat and gained 3.6 lbs of muscle since February 28. (I was on BBB prior to starting Titan on April 4.)

So there you have it. I am maintaining the original "5 stars" I had initially rated. In all honesty, I wonder if the fat loss and muscle gained I had achieved came from the Anabolic Diet, BBB, Titan, or a little bit of everything. I also wonder if I had gotten same (or even better) results with a different training program. Nevertheless, I am happy with what I have achieved. I am cutting Titan short because I have decided to start going for the mass phase. I will be using Optimum Anabolics as my training and diet template. Hope this review helps in any way. Good luck to all my fellow muscleheads:)

PS. The workout was efficient but brutal! Keep an eye on your diet, and make sure you get ample rest. Otherwise, you could overtrain.

I've always been a real dedicated lifter. i started a cutting diet and didn't do some things right(cardio 3 times a day, ouch!) This stupid mistake brought my strength down on all lifts tremendously. I bought Titan Training Manual and within 5 days of working out with it, my strength has nearly returned. I went from benching 220 for 10 reps to 240 for 9 reps at a bodyweight of 168. that's the most i've ever seen in that short a time. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is in bodybuilding or powerlifting, or if you're just looking to stun you workout buddy.

I was on Leo's Big Beyond Belief program for nearly two years and couldn't believe the difference it made. I switched to the Titan Training and Behold! I found something even better. The program is difficult in its intensity, but it only takes 45 minutes four days per week. You will be amazed!
In response to Matt Robert's question in his "review" about what is the difference between the two programs - You dunce! Buy the book and find out the difference. But I'll give you a hint: 45 mintues 4 x a week.

This book was very informative, easy to read with associating pictures. I especially liked how chapters 6 through 11 were broken into lesson plans (e.g.) Chapter Six, Lesson Plan:Week #1. Chapter 3, Recognizing Canine Calming Signals was very interesting. Twelve calming signals were introduced by the author in a manner that was easy to understand. I can see how this chapter is essential for training and observing other canines. I highly recommend this book for training your dog. No canine owner should be without it.

I found this book to be extremely helpful and easy to read with "down to earth" information and examples. To reinforce the information, there are also very helpful "homework" assignments that are easy to incorporate into a very hectic schedule. Results were obvious within the first two weeks - my puppy suddenly started listening and responding just the way I wanted him to! THANK YOU!!!

I was given a 5month old German Shepard that had been abused verbally, and physically, no socializing, no housbreaking nothing.
I purchased this book and started reading every part of it, I was determined to make this dog a good dog. It worked, everyone that knows my dog Ranger cannot believe the progress that was made with him.
This book helps you think the way the dog thinks and is very helpful from that point of view. I would recommend this book for anyone who ownes a dog-----especially a puppy!!!!!!
Thank you Moe & Gary Ross awesome job.

If Rocky could do it so can you -- and this book is the secret how. The book (aka "the boxing bible") won't only put you on a plan to increase strength and stamina, but it will also boost your quickness and agility. After reading this book you'll be able to knockout Mike Tyson.

This book made great suggestions for improving some of the most critical parts of being a successful boxer--endurance, power, agility, and speed. This book takes a healthy approach to boxing--it succinctly and clearly outlines how, depending on your experience and level of competitiveness, you should proceed on improving your ability as a fighter. I recommend this book without any hesitation.
