What a great book! This is a book we will read to the children every Christmas as we set out our snacks for Santa. We now have a new Christmas tradition that we can all share as a family. We recommend it to all families with children or grandchildren.

An enchanting new story of the night before Christmas!!!

The illustrations and rhyming type story are classic and full of emotions. The story of a classic family tradition. I always wondered where this tradition had come from and now I know. The illustrations are beautiful and full of life. Everyone that reads this story with there family will love it and probably read it day after day during the Christmas holidays.

Wonderful Stories, Not Just for Christmas

This is a new book from one of my favorite authors, David Spangler. Usually a non-fiction writer, though he has had short stories published in other anthologies before, this is the first collection entirely devoted to his own fiction. These are wonderful stories, including fantasy, science fiction, and comedy, written over a period of years as Christmas gifts, but I think they are worth reading any time. Though most, not all, of the stories contained here have a Christmas theme, their magic and fun really make them timeless. I recommend this book highly for anyone who enjoys good stories.

This book, one of a series by this author is a great place tobe a kid. Seen through the eyes of a child, a bright new offering inthe style of Seuss, most notable are the brilliant illustrations, theverse which is memorable and a continuation of the same theme ofchildren saving their town of Porterlance, is fun for adults andchildren as well. Hardly a page goes by with out something to offerthe child in all of us. Matthew continues to delight his readersthrough his effective telling of tales...

I read this book to my eighth grade physical science students before they started a project about the summer solstice. It lends itself well to a teacher read-aloud. The pictures are beautiful and the information is comprehensible. It is a great way to bring cultural diversity into a science lesson.

A visual smorgasbord!

"Sweden," by Monica Rabe, is part of the "Festivals of the World" book series. This book combines a very readable text with many full-color photographs to educate readers about the festivals of the title country. Included are a map, a short glossary, and an index.

The king's birthday, Walpurgis Night, Midsummer's Day, and other festivals are discussed. Related topics covered include the role of the Swedish royal family, traditional superstitions, and Viking mythology. The book describes such interesting customs as leaving out a bowl of porridge for the "hustomte" (a gnome who guards one's house), or having a sour herring party. And of course, the book discusses the traditional Swedish smorgasbord.

The book gives instructions on how to make a Julangel (a decorative Christmas angel), as well as a recipe for coconut chocolate balls (I haven't tried the recipe, but it sounds delicious!). Throughout the book are many colorful images: children in traditional costumes, the royal family in elegant dress, a field of beautiful daffodils, etc.

I really liked this book. I usally am pretty low on cash, but ilove to read, and am always asking my rents' to buy me books, but lasttime i asked my mom put her foot down she said she spends almost 200 DOLLARS on books for me every month. and she told me that if i wanted anymore books i would be the one to pay for them. so i won this award for attendance at school ($15), and went shoppin. since it had been like forever since i had bought any books i wanted to get a long but good won, i love reading books that are set up as personal narritoves, and when i saw this i had to get it. I really got into the book, i was afraid if i put it down luc would go to the party without me nd i woulld miss out. the book made me bite my nails, i just kept wishing, if only i had 2 twins and could be in 3 places at once withoput anyone noticing !

This book is all about a teenager's world. Simple situations turn wacky when Sunny and Matt break up b/k of a mysterious tape. Fun 4 any luv aspiring teenage gurl! Sunny and Matt's relationship seemed too perfect, so I really liked Geena and Elias's much better, because it was so funny! (especially when the guys dress up as girls...) A must!

This is one of the most satisfying projects I've ever worked on. The story grew out of conversations I had with my father about his upbringing in Selma, Alabama. I want you to enjoy my book, but more importantly, I urge you to sit down and talk with your parents, your kids, other members of your family and discover their stories.

Tambourine Moon is a lovely picture book, appealing both to adults and children. A perfect family story for Christmas, it captures one about a child's grandparents and how they met. The theme of light in darkness is beautifully illustrated, and it is reassuring in the telling.Thne tambourine is a special piece of magic which has a lot of appeal. Highly recommended!
