This book in the 3 book series was by far the best! Jessica and the squad go to nationals! Once they are there they find their competition is going to be Heather Mallone's old school! When Heather messes up on a well known rountine Jessica suspects more then just her nerves. She believes something sticky is going on and Marrissa James is probably behind it. PLUS! If you love Ken, Todd, and Winston, the make us all laugh in this one, doing almost anything to get closer to the girls! and I mean anything! If you are wondering about getting this book don't wonder anymore, "Just Do It!"

I loved this book

This book is about the Sweet Valley cheering squad and how Jessica leads them to victory with rival and arch enemy Heather Mallone. In the competition they meet Heathers' old squad who heard that svh would be their biggest rival so they try to sabotage svh's performance by blackmailing Heather about her past. But the ending really has you surprised. I think this is one of the best Sweet Valley books.

The SVH cheerleading squad has made it to the Nationals, where they'll compete against the best in the country. Among their rivals is Reno, Heather's old squad. Marissa James, the captain of the Reno squad, seems to have some sort of power of Heather. What could it be? Ken and Todd are desperately trying to make up to Elizabeth and Jessica. So what do they do? They go to Yosemite, of course! But when Todd, Ken, and Winston get down there, and find out that no boys are allowed at the competition, they decide to take some drastic measures. Will the SVH Cheerleaders manage to overcome their obstacles and take the title?

I read this book years and years ago when I was in...maybe 4th or 5th grade. I'm in 10th grade now and I still remember this amazing book that changed my outlook on reading forever.

This book is great, wonderful, superb, astounding, amazing, creative, wickedly funny, all the good adjectives you can think of! It's got an interesting storyline of a dessert contest and is filled with creative desserts like an apple pancake turned trampoline.

Children and adults alike will enjoy this wonderfully creative literary work. In fact, I think I'm going to go check it out now.

This book should be placed alongside Willie Wonka, James and the Giant Peach, and Phantom Tollbooth. Not only does Mr. Elish know how to tell a good yarn, he is clearly a craftsman. There are passages in the book that are lyrical.

If you want something that will keep the kids entertained, and might actually teach them a thing or two, this is the book for you. Don't miss it!

I first read this book is 4th grade. I stayed up until midnight reading, and then started again the next morning and didn't stop until I finished. I read it again in 5th, 6th, and I plan to read it again this year in 7th grade. Not only is is the book hilarious, but is has lots of interresting rhymes, one of which I liked so much I memorized all four pages of. If your reading this your probably thinking of buying the book; hurry up and buy it so you can read this thriling, amazing book!!!!!

The first time I heard of this book was when Dan Elish visited my fourth grade class and read part of it aloud to us. I fell in love and finished the book myself. Ever since then I have tried to read it at least once a year, searching for it in any and all libraries!! It is a phenomenal book that captivates the imagination, no matter what your age. I am 17 and still don't tire of the adventures of John and Stanley!!

Another great series of books for RL Stine. These keep kids attention and have them coming back for more. If you are trying to get your kids into Chapter books, then get these. They are entertaining and funny and most of them if not all are worth AR points. They are a fun read, so good your little will probably have it read before the end of the day. That is a great accomplishment for a child to read a chapter book in less than a day. These are super funny, cool, and entertaining and all the kids LOVE them.

An Outstanding Start for a Book Series!

I got this book back in 2005 when the series started. Personally, I think this is a very good book if you enjoy mysteries and smart stories. I think this book is a great start for a book series because you keep wanting to read on and on when you start to read it. In fact, I finished this book just in TWO days because I enjoyed it so much. As a fan of this book series for two years, I really recommend other kids to read this wonderful series. It has a lot of very funny and smart scenes.

The series is basically about a fourth grader named Bernie Bridges who got sent to a boarding school called Rotten School. There in the campus, he often gets in trouble. Also, he has a huge crush on a girl called April May June, so he often tries to get her attention and impress her. There are two dorms for the boys-"Nyce House" and "Rotten House". Rotten House is where Bernie and his friends stay at and Nyce House is where Bernie and his friends' enemies stay at. The two sides have a rivalry, so they often compete against each other in events.

That's basically all I can tell you right now because I don't want to spoil anything for you.

These books are GREAT!

There are not enough good books out there for boys to read & spark there interest, but these did it. They loved the characters & their funny names. They were begging me to buy the rest in the series & I did. Try these out, you won't be disappointed.

Sure to be a hit among pre-teens

This is the first in a new series from beloved children's author R. L. Stine of Goosebumps fame. Bernie Bridges wants Sherman Oaks' fancy new watch. How will he get it? He challenges the residents of Sherman's residential home to a pie eating contest. They will pick a representative for them and Bernie's group will choose a person to represent them. Of course, Bernie has a secret plan. Will it work? You will have to read the book to find out. The Big Blueberry Barf-Off will appeal to most school kids between 8 and 12 years of age. A departure from the Goosebumps style it is a good read filled with descriptions of the gross and messy stuff children that age like to read about while still providing an interesting story with plenty of twists and turns. This series should appeal to boys where other titles often fail.

Also it's interesting about how claudia has an artistic flair for designing and decorating cakes though they don't taste good at first, but then when they get a recipe of a cake mary anne's mom used to make before she passed away they make that and use one of claudia's beautiful designs and win!

One of Nancy Moser's strengths is her creative ability to come up with some very thought provoking plots! I've read all of her books.

Regarding her plots you first say, "That would never happen", but after reading for a while you say, "I wonder how people would react if it did happen that way."

Crossroads may take you on a trip to Weaver, KS that you will never forget.

Review Date: 2006-03-01
One century ago, her ancestors founded Weaver, Kansas, but now the place is dying. Town matriarch elderly spinster Madeline Weaver detests that her heritage is slowly eroding. She loathes how people drop spouses as if they are tossing the garbage. Finally she hates the constant people moving, people moving out as nothing seems stable except the decline of her hometown.

Madeline has decided to do something to save Weaver. She buys up all the property and holds a contest in which she gives away land one lot at a time. Her plan is simple to control who lives in her town and how they live. At first the winners feel kind towards their benefactor, but as the rules become enforced many wonder if a mean spirited dictator runs their lives. However, Madeline has a past too that she has kept secret and that is about to be revealed leading to either redemption or humiliation depending on how she reacts.

This is an interesting character driven tale as Madeline and an assortment of supporting players are at the CROSSROADS of their lives while coming together in Weaver, Kansas to start over. Madeline is an intriguing protagonist as the septuagenarian tries to cling to her heritage not expecting that part of it is a secret she prefers left concealed because it shames her. Fans will enjoy this fine look at people struggling with difficult decisions as no option is all right or all wrong with most containing pros and cons.

This was one of the first books I read about ADHD, some years ago. And now when I think back to it, I see that it laid a very good and accurate foundation for understanding the "heart" of ADHD challenges. And, it did so in an entertaining and inspiring way--not at all pedantic or "now we're going to learn about your brain wiring" preachy. If I had a child with ADHD, especially a lttle girl, I would definitely make this bedtime reading.

It describes being teased, forgetting homework, missing details.....humorous story line, emotional and best of all relatable....Good starter book that is loaded with information about ADD/ADHD but presented in fiction form! Humorous tale of a girl with AD/HD
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2001-07-01
This book would be good a for girl with AD/HD. She could identify with the successes and the mishaps of a character who shares some of her characteristics. Since girls with AD/HD often feel isolated and "defective," this book could her realize that she is not the only person in the world like this. She may see that one can succeed with AD/HD, and that one doesn't have to be the perfect student to be a successful person.

Paige daydreams during class, so much in fact, that her classmates call her "spacey." Her class is having a competition to see who can write the best paper on a particular topic. Paige is absent-minded, so she forgets about her paper until it becomes an urgent priority. Paige's dog provides distraction for her when she least wants it. The dog is stealing toys from children and animals. Despite all of these challenging events, Paige ends up getting at least part of what she wanted.

This book would be a good addition to the library of a child with AD/HD. It is a bit more of a "teaching" book than simply an entertainment book. However, some of Paige's situations are funny and keep the plot moving.

Scientific American is one of America's most well known popular science journals. Part of its appeal is its periodic contests in different fields of science and technology. One of these is a paper airplane contest held annually. The top entires are summarized in this book, one of the better paper airplane books out there. The models range across different size ranges and have a variety of looks. The difficulty in building these models range from light to very difficult, and hence provide hours of entertainment for those willing to use their hands to build some stuff. Some require "cheating" in the form of scissors and tape, but the results are incredible looking models that do really fly. Overall, I recommend this book.

The first part of the book consists of a superbly eclectic history of the paper airplane with many ideas that will lead may a child of any age into endless hours of dreamy fun.

Melissa is urged to compete in Westdale High's first homecoming in 25 years by her friends, Izzy and Celeste. At first, Melissa's anxious to start campaigning, however, her spirits are dampened when the news of why Westdale hasn't had a homecoming until now gets around to her. Apparently, homecoming queen Brenda Sheldon had an accident on the night of homecoming. Rumor has it that her ghost is still seen around town, wanting to reclaim her crown. After a brief scare, Melissa overlooks the talk, until terrible accidents start occurring to the others running for the title; two barely missing Melissa! Who's doing this, and why? The answer is revealed in the exciting conclusion!.....

"Homecoming Queen" by John Hall was amazing! Mystery and suspense seems to wrap you up in an exciting blanket, nonstop! It was one of the few books that actually gave me chills. It is nicely descriptive, with a killer-surprise ending! The only flaw for me personally, was that I had previously read a book, "My Bloody Valentine," that was similar to this book, which took a little originality out of it for me! If you haven't read that book, though, you should be fine! Enjoy!

Thats when Mellisa starts getting weird phone calls and strange stuff begins to happen to her, and one by one the nominees who are also running for home coming queen, have very fatal accidents. I think that Home coming Queen is a really excellent book and it's never boring. It is very well discripted and thet helps you to imagine the events taking place. The book is written by John Hall. I would give it 10/10 because it's the best book I've ever read.

John Hall wowed me with this terrifying tale of jealousy, greed & murder. Melissa would die to be home coming queen, and death may be her price. The last time there was a home coming queen, she was found dead, now, it seem's history is repeating itself. With smart, sassy suspects & victims, Homecoming Queen will keep you guessing up until the last few pages. By far the best horror/thriller book ever written. P.S - If this should be made into a film, I strongly suggest Sarah Michelle Geller ( Buffy, Scream 2, I know What you Did Last Summer ) for the part of Melissa & Alicia Silverstone ( Clueless, The Crush ) for the part of Celeste.

How would you feel if you were very close to winning a shot at a million dollars, but instead of picking you they choose your ancient grandmother to take that shot? The setting of this book is in Montreal Canada and the main characters are Dawn and Dusk Rosenberg. They are two twins who are obsessed with the game of hockey and their favorite team, the Montreal Canadians. Their dad isn't a huge fan of the game and their grandmother Oma thinks they should be spending their time more wisely, like doing homework than hitting a puck into a net.
One day their dad gets them tickets to a Montreal Canadians game. They go into the parking lot and help Oma into her wheelchair to roll her into the stadium when Dusk sees a flyer by the entrance that reads, "Million Dollar Goal contest tonight", but he thought it was no big deal, and their dad told them it was rigged anyway. They stay till the drawing just to see if they had a chance to shoot the puck in the goal for a million dollars. The light turns on them, and then they find out that...Oma got picked! When they see that Oma was asleep the whole time they want to just keep it a secret from her thinking that she doesn't know what happened. When they get home, right before Oma goes to sleep, she comes out and says "Oh, by the way.... I'm gonna take that shot."
There are some problems along the way, like managers, learning how to play hockey, and some people that are messing with Oma. The main idea of this book is that sometimes you only get one chance in life and you need to go for it. The meaning of the title is "The Million Dollar Goal" because that is what the contest is called and they are shooting for one million dollars.

The pacing of the book was fast, but very detailed. Throughout the book main characters, Dusk and Dawn are telling the story. I think this book is in a Christian perspective because it doesn't talk about other religions or things like Christianity being false. I have read Dan Gutman's book last year called," The Million Dollar Shot". They had a similar theme and story. I would recommend this book to people in fifth and sixth grade. It was a little easy for me to read, but I think older readers would get a deeper understanding of it. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

If you want to get your child interested in reading, this is the book to do it. I read to my son every night at bedtime. I was given a Dan Gutman book called The Million Dollar Strike (which I also whole heartedly recommend). We enjoyed that so much that I ordered all of "The Million Dollar" book titles. While they are all wonderful, this one is by far the funniest. While I was reading one of the chapters to my son, I laughed so hard that I couldn't go on for a minute. When we attempted to re-read that chapter to my husband, we were laughing too hard to complete the sentence. Grandma "Oma" in the book is the character who makes this book hilarious. She is foul mouthed (all the curses are printed as "bleepity bleep" so don't worry) and she farts a lot and there comes a time when that comes to the kids aid with bullies believe it or not! At first they are embarassed by her, but they grow to treasure her as you will. Without giving anything away, I will say it is sad in one part and moved us to tears, but quickly turned it around and made us smile again. I truly recommend this book to anyone of any age. My son and I have read this book together 3 times already and now he is reading it on his own to his friends. I can hear them laughing down the hall when they are reading it. Buy it, you won't regret it.

The Million Dollar Goal is a good book. The title of the book makes you want to read it. The main people are Oma, Dusk, Dawn, Mom and Dad. The mother is nice. The father is a little mean until the end of the book. Dusk is the younger brother. And Dawn is the older sister by three minutes. Dusk is a smart mouth. And Dawn is mature sister.

Oma is just an old cranky grandmother who says bad words and farts. They are a family living in Canada. The characters are weird. Their father gets ticked off when the kids talk about hockey in front of him. Their father doesn't come to most of their games and when he does he just reads a news paper. The book is funny and interesting. I think you will like it! The reason I like the book because it is funny book.

Twins Dawn and Dusk Rosenburg live for hockey and worship the Montreal Canadians. But their dad hates the game and their foul-mouthed grandmother thinks the twins should be doing homework and chores instead of wasting time shooting pucks.
When Dawn and Dusk's dad gets the family tickets to the next Canadians game, they cant believe their luck. I think this is the book for sports fans. I give it two thumbs up. This book will make you laugh and cry. I love this book. Dan Gutman describes the characters superbly.
I like this book because every second there's excitement. There's a lot of twists and turns in this book. I suggest you read this book unless you don't like action, comedy, excitement, and sports. I mean who wouldn't like that? This is one of Dan Gutman's million dollar books.
