This is just a collection of Garfield comics you can get off the Garfield website. There isn't even any of the new stuff with Luz and John ending up together.

A great book if you like Garfield. I like the cat and the dog too. I didn't like how the man put the collar on the dog, it was cruel of him.

I have been a long time Garfield fan. While sometimes the strip seems to fall a little short, by and large it stays consistently funny. What I especially have liked about Garfield in recent years is that Jim Davis seems to have really cultivated his taste for the bizarre, so recent Garfield strips have often had a Far Sidian quality to them. This can especially be seen in the recent books, including this one.

I think this is a good book if you like garfield. I like when the dog and garfield dance. I didn't like when the men put the shock collar on the dog,that was mean of them.

While i don't have this book it still souds delightful!!!! After many years Garfield still puts a smile on your face! In this book it celebrates that as Garfield get older he still probaly the same and with his good and funny attitude. so enjoy as many others will enjoy i too!

Get Fuzzy is a great comic strip, and having it on your desk every day is great. If you've ever had a daily comic calendar (i.e. Far Side, etc), then you know what to expect. Great for cropping and hanging up on a cubicle wall when you find an especially good daily.

I can't start my day until I read my Get Fuzzy calendar. We have a network of Fuzzy lovers at work and we pass the pages around, keep our favorites and share our chuckles.

Get Fuzzy has to be the funniest strip of all time. Darbey Conley hits the mark every time when he picks up his pen. His material is fresh and always thoughtful. You can't go wrong with it.

I first received this calendar as a gift, from my daughter, a couple of years ago...since then, it has been a regular purchase, every year! I love Darby Conley's strip and this is an easy way to keep up on what his "characters" are up to, day by day!!

I get one of these every year. If you're a Get Fuzzy fan you'll love it. If you're not, get it and you will be!

grickle is nuanced and subtle. it gets down to gritty reality, but is colored with optimism. there is a difference between cheese that you get at some crappy supermarket in the bronx, and cheese imported from switzerland. this is like real swiss cheese. or greek yogurt, or austrian chocolate. it is chockful of wholesome homicidal urges, and faces reality with a wistful, dreamy, yet quirky longing. grickle, boy am i glad i found you!

Annable's fresh humor and honest wit shine in this collection of short comics. You can't help but relate to his endearingly odd characters. Somehow, Annable conveys more than just emotion in them, which is an impressive feat in itself given the deceptively simple artwork. But he manages to portray their conscience and their deep-rooted fears and hopes as well. I love how adeptly such subtle themes of loneliness, self-doubt, relief, and satisfaction are packaged into such an enjoyable work of twisted humor. Do yourself a favor and read it more than once. It is at once leisurely, funny, clever and insightful, so you might not be able to catch all that the first time around.

Reading this book is like hangin with a good friend. There are things about him (the book and its diverse characters) that make me think of me. Other things make me think, I'll never fully understand why he does what he does? Would I find myself in similar situations? If I had a cupcake, would I hand it over to wee man? Is every diversion from the norm a fulfilling life experience? Sure it is. And so is my friend Grickle.

It's got range, it's got scope, it's got depth, it's got grasp, it's got cute fuzzy aliens, it's got charming homicidal ghouls, it's got pathos, it's got instant photography, it's got a fish.

There's this knock on the door, so I go and answer it, all right? And there's this copy of Grickle standing on the mat looking really pissed off. It doesn't even say "Hello" or "Hey you!" or nothing. It just jumps on my chest and starts wailing on me. Bam! Bam! Bam! And so I'm, like, "what the f*ck?" I try to tear it off of me, but I just get a bunch of paper cuts all over my hands. Paper won't tear. Too tough. Next thing you know, I'm on the floor crawling around trying to get out my lighter, but it sees me reaching for my pocket and it kicks it away. I gotta tell you, I was scared. Anyway, just when I thought that was it, lights out for old Alphonse, the book sees the copy of Grickle I got last month ago off of Bruno. It hops off of me and kind of grunts an apology. I could tell it was all embarassed and sh*t. Then it just takes off. Never seen anything like it.

I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.

Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

Once again the journey into Amend's world is a treat. His ability to sustain characters who are believable while remaining likable is not to be taken lightly. The last cartoonist who did that was Charles Schulz.

One request, Mr. Amend: Please let Jason have a real computer! At least give him a scroll mouse with five buttons - he deserves it!

I have been a faithful FoxTrot reader for years. Roger, Andy and their kids Peter, Paige and Jason are always good for a reality check with a large dose of laughter. I've got two girls and let me tell you, I see a lot of my kids in Paige with, I believe, even a healthy dose of Jason thrown in. And they have Peter's bottomless stomach. Of course, they're faithful FoxTrot readers too. I used to read the strip to them, explain what was going on, but now they get it just fine and we three all laugh together. Then my girls try and explain the strip to their dad, who pretends he doesn't get it.

The FoxTrot folks are a great family, one we sort of got used to checking up on every day, so we took the news that Mr. Amend was going to cease daily distribution of his wonderfully funny people and turn his strip to Sunday only, with a bit of sadness. Still, we have these terrific FoxTrot books to keep us going with our FoxTrot fix. Mr. Amend is to be commended for his great gift to our culture and his great gift to so many lives. I truly believe a laugh a day, helps keep the blues away and the FoxTrot gang are always good for a laugh. Heck there are a lot of laughs in the FoxTrot books. I know, I have them all and I am, along with my girls and my hubby dear, eagerly awaiting the next one.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we don't have an iguana, but my girls do have a pet gecko and, you guessed it, his name is Quincy.

This is the 3rd FoxTrot book in the new smaller size. But don't let the smaller size of this book put you off. The strips inside are as large as ever (some even larger) and there are no problems reading it!

This book covers strips from Christmas 2001 through summer 2002 (actual dates not known at the time of this writing). The cover refers to an attempt by Roger to write a spy novel in which he is the star. The strips covering this funny even are all inside as are the usual fun caused by the Fox family and friends. Clean artwork and clean, fun humor abound in this comic strip book. Great for light reading before bed, or any other time!

Here is another fabulous collection of FoxTrot comics, which proves that Bill Amend still has it at being funny and clever. Anytime I see a new one of these books on the shelves of bookstores, I purchase them immediately. I have lost track of the times I have read each of them. "His Code Name was The Fox" is a great collection filled with humor and surprises.

Once again we visit the Fox Family, who always end up getting into unpredictable situations. Jason is still finding new ways to torment his sister, Roger is just as unintelligent as ever (especially when he acts like he is smart), Andy is getting more and more strung out by trying to keep her family sane, and Peter is not gaining any weight, no matter how much he eats. All of them play a very important role in this very funny and entertaining collection.

If you love Foxtrot, then you will fall in love with "His Code Name was The Fox." I have read it many, many times already and have not gotten sick of it yet. Bill Amend proves once again that he can keep the laughs coming. Very highly recommended!

This book is a fabulous collection of Dan Piraro's "Bizarro" Sunday comics. Unlike other cartoonists, Piraro has the incredible ability to portray realistic ideas and situations while still maintaining a "cartoon atmosphere." His ability to create such imaginative cartoons makes him one of the most original and hilariously funny artists out there. These full-color Sunday cartoons will give you an idea of how witty and true-to-life Bizarro can be.

In addition, each cartoon includes a small caption, perhaps explaining the meaning of the joke, or how Piraro came up with the idea for a certain cartoon. These small bits of information even sometimes explain who certain characters represent and their purpose in the cartoon. Also, in the back of the book, there is an in-depth explanation of each of the hidden symbols that Piraro hides in his comics. This is a genuinely funny book and should be read by all comic lovers--Bizarro or not. Such a chance to take a ride inside Dan Piraro's head is one that should not be passed up.

I think Dan Piraro is one of the few people who have a handle on what life is all about. His cartoons show an insight into our world that precious few have. This latest of his books exceeds what I expected. The comments on his thinking are an added plus that put him over the top.
I don't know how his next book can be any better, but I'm sure it will be. Why am I sure? because I saw his Bizzaro Bologna Show when it came through town, and he was even funnier than I thought was possible.
I really feel sorry for the people in the towns that don't have him in their daily newspaper!!!

I've been a fan of Mr. Piraro's work for several years, and almost creamed myself when I heard he was coming out with a collection of his greatest Sunday cartoons!! "Life is Strange and So Are You" lived up to my utmost expectations, keeping me in hysterics for hours on end. My husband threatened to call poison control because he thought I must've accidentally eaten hallucinogenic mushrooms on my pizza, I was laughing so hard-but I assured him through my tears of hilarity that it was all Dan Piraro-who's just too freakin' funny!

I love his drawing style, the vibrant colors he uses, the secret symbols he sneaks in the art, and his outlandish sense of humor illustrated in every gag. The personal notes included with each cartoon give new and much-appreciated insight , sharing the author's comments and inspiration on each panel.

BUY THIS BOOK, IT WILL CRACK YOU UP!!

Bizarro is by far one of the best cartoons in print today. He is clever, extremely funny and obviously he is a good artist. This book is cleverly done with all the little extra comments on each cartoon. They give a small insite into the mind of this cartoonist. It is truly a Sunday Treasury.

I thought I'd go into withdrawal permanently after Calvin and Hobbes stopped running. Thank goodness for Lio and also Brewster Rockit (also well worth checking out). Lio makes the Addams Family look like a well adjusted family. A bargain at twice the price!

What a wicked sense of humor. I love this cartoon. I think you have to have a warped send of humor to really enjoy Lio but for those of us that do this is a wonderful collection of the cartoons.

Another reviewers comparison to Charles Addams is spot on. Dark humor, but so very well done.

Lio is both humorous and well drawn, a rare find on the comics page these days.

A comic not for everyone, but enormously funny to anyone who enjoyed the ADDAMS FAMILY or the MUNSTERS.

Lio is the heir apparent to Calvin and Hobbes; he seems a little strange when you first read his comics, but very engaging and a true lover of nature and all animals. Can't wait for the next Lio; meanwhile it is ready him in the comic pages!

A very enjoyable book. Just the high quality reproduction of the covers would make this a great book.
A richly savory festival of imagination, creativity, insight (cultural, sociological, philosophical, etc.) and, of course, delightful humor and splendiferous transcendental artwork. Lots of charming tidbits including photos, extra art reproductions, etc.

If there are better sight gags than those on the cover of Mad magazine, then I have yet to see them. This book is a collection of the first 400 covers and some of them had me hysterical with laughter. My favorite was the one where Alfred is holding a hard taco shell behind a Mexican dog that is straining mightily. Others were just as funny, although some did require explanation. The producers of the magazine were not above applying a little duplicity when creating the covers.
The only drawback for younger readers will be that knowledge of the current events of the time is a precondition if you are to get the joke. For example, some covers feature political figures, and if you don't know anything about them, the joke is lost. Other covers are spoofs of hit movies of the time, so the explanatory captions are a welcome addition. Having lived through those times, I understood most of them, but there were a few times when I didn't understand the joke until I read the caption.
This book is very funny and you cannot help but be impressed by the quality of the artwork and the zany intelligence that went into the covers of Mad. The producers of Mad constantly lampooned themselves as idiots, but they were without question geniuses.

I loved this book , mostly because Im a mad magazine FAN!!! BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!! GREAT BOOK

The first copy of Mad I saw was issue 29 in September 1956 (still got it too) and I was hooked. How could a magazine be so funny and be so spot-on with its satire? Easy, just employ the `usual gang of idiots' that's how. I kind of grew out of it when I discovered the National Lampoon, how could a magazine be so funny etc, etc. But I have always had a soft spot for Mad and this book of covers is a super addition to my back issues and other Mad books.

All 399 (up to November 2000) covers are in this well designed and printed book Mostly one or two covers to a page sometimes with Frank Jacobs' commentary and with a lot of the latter covers you get to see the preliminary cover roughs. As the years go by you can see how the covers changed from simple visual gags into ones that are much more graphic and busy because they have to work harder on the newsstand. The ideas are still very funny after all these years though. My favorite is issue 35 (October 1957) a wraparound that celebrated the fifth anniversary with a great painting from Norman Mingo showing a few dozen very famous American merchandising characters seated round a dining table, Alfred's at one end grinning. I would love this as a poster.

I think it is worth mentioning for Mad fans the seven CD-ROM `Totally Mad' set, every page from the issue one thru to December 1998, the interface is very user friendly and the discs have a lot of additional aural and visual surprises.

BTW, Robert Silver's photmosaic book cover, made up from the magazines covers, is stunning.

An amazing book from an amazing artist.
I have been a fan of R.C.Crumb for a long time and was estatic when I came across this book.Several times when you are going through this book you'll see mention of the movie "Crumb".By all means ,find it and watch it. It is much more about RC,but Aline appears in it many times. And why wouldn't she;she has been an essential part of his life,and he of hers, since 1973.And what a life it has been for these two artists feeding on one another's talents,imaginations and love of life and freedom of expression. The reason I mention this movie is that it brings you into their lives so well as you listen to them talk about their lives ,art and lifestyles. And most important, many of the people you encounter in this book are in the movie and play themselves--in what seems to be virtually unrehearsed. I wrote a Review on that movie on February 14,2007.
I have loved the Comics since I was able to read,starting in the early 1940's. Very much a part of Comics ,has in addition to the storyline ,been the fabulous art that these great strip writers have produced. I find it impossible to pick a favorite since each is such a personal expression of their imagination and skill.
It this book Aline bares her soul to us all ,probably even to a greater extent than most people are able to bare their own to themseles.
The thing about an artist with the love of life ,imagination and skills of Aline ;is that she is able to show the way one reacts to the world around them. She is able to see and tell about things where others only look and wonder why.
Throughout the book, her artist's soul is displayed in every part of her life.From the time she was a child,the families around her,her friends,her art,her choices of homes and what ojects and artistic surroundings she creates;and toward the end of the book she becomes very open to us and tries to show what has been important in her life and what a struggle one must make if they are to really live their life with gusto;or simply let oneself flow along with the stream.
If you are a fan of the Crumbs or Comics or Art or Life itself ;you can't help but be enchanted with this book.I notice that this book was listed at $30 and now offered at a Bargin Price of $8.99 --an amazing value for such a treasure.It has 384 pages,and superbly constructed with glossy covers and dj.The color rendition is excellent as well as the printing ,and on very heavy stock paper.
I really wanted to rate this 5*,but for some reason,only 4* registered.It is definitely a 5* book.

I was amazed at how easily Aline Kominsky Crumb seems to open up to the reader in this plump autobiography. You can tell when you first pick up this hefty book, that Aline has alot to say about her life, her loves, and her work. Even though I'm not a Jewish girl from the "guyland" (as she says it), I found her characters easy to relate to. Highly recommended!!

This is a good one to flip through - strange and funny. It's also quite revealing but I like the lighthearted tone of the author and I never know this much about her, though I knew a bit about Crumb. Can be kind of crude, but you should see that coming if you've seen Crumb...

I have always loved and looked forward to Aline K-C's work. She is about 11 years older than me and everything she goes through, well, a few years later, I go through it too! I think of her as a kind of sister, preparing me for the road ahead.

In this large and slightly unwieldy book, she gives us autobiographical data that might not go down too well with your average nerd-boy in the USA, even though this stuff she goes through and talks about are important aspects of a woman's life that every man who has interest in precisely one half of the planet's residents should get a feel for, at least!

She shows us her more recent artwork and it is wonderful! She has really changed what she does and it is magnificent work. She's always done collages but not quite like the ones she shows us in this book! I could feel my art lust welling within my breast. She's got a pretty good life right now and has done some extensive traveling in recent years, and this has been very good not only for her artwork but for her worldview. I'm glad this has happened for her, and have always believed that in some ways this woman far outstrips her mate.

Get it. It is very interesting and very amusing. Sacre Blu! Old Blabette is still alive and making her periodic appearances not only in Aline's strips but her granddaughter Sophie's as well, and believe me, that kid can draw and has a very level headed, healthy view of this world. It will be interesting to see where the kid goes in the time to come.

Get it. You can't be bored with it, between the pictures and the texts you will get many hours of amusement out of it.

There's nothing more appealing than when an unapologetic woman lets her big appetite hang out!

It's a thrill to see these stories, some of which have been parceled out to us piecemeal over the years, collected in one volume, with Aline's artwork, photographs, words lending further context and depth. It's so heavy, I'm afraid it'll fall off the shelf and crush me in my sleep! Actually, there are plenty of worse ways to go...

Much as I love her #1 husband's "aht", as far as I'm concerned, Aline's no second banana. She's the whole dang Bunch!

I'm very picky with buying manga I'm not familiar with, and I haven't seen the entire series so I was skeptical about picking this up. But this is not a purchase that will be regretted. This excels the show in some areas. It takes its time to focus closely on the characters and their development, it stretches out few episodes to go into great deatail. Along with the terrific storytelling is the art. The art in here is superb, definetely one of the best in manga. At the end, it also has articles about evangelion from various people. The two aspects of manga, art and storytelling, are the highlights of this book, so it should defeintely be picked up.

SO far, I've read Evangelion books 1-3 and loved them all. The story is just great, action sequneeces are just so suspense full, I literally couldn't put the book down. Besides that, the art work is great. I didn't thing they couuld fit huge mechs into a comic book, but they did a great job of it. This is one of the best Manga epics I've ever read. I suggest all the books to everybody.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is far most the best manga/anime i have ever seen and read. The plot of the story gives it real life and deals with very much sci-fi and mecha. It also revolves around a world where our world could probably end up being. The characters are very vivid and interesting and my knowledge of Eva is far more than what i am writing here. If anyone would like to email feel free to!

out of all the neon genisis mangas, I like the third the best but you can't get to the third without the second. this was a realy cool book though. there was fewer battle scenes than in the first book but they were still great. shinji is more rebelius in this one, he refuses to follow misatos orders and fights the angel to the end. some cool new weponds and charactors await you as shinji takes on another dreaded angel and an angry misato afterwards. the art is incredibale and the characters are still great in NEON GENESIS EVANGELION vol.2 (p.s. the only reason I gave it 4 stars is beacause they don't have a 4 and a half star rating.)

How to do justice to Neon Genesis Evangelion? I'm not entirely sure it's possible to describe this book with words. Yes, it's a comic book--but not in the sense most Westerners will think of them, or even the style of most manga.

Neon Genesis Evangelion (Japanese "Shinseki Ebangerion") was one of the most controversial manga in Japan for the very reason it's so enjoyable. Unlike most comics, which are focused on action and little else, Evangelion involves heavy character development. The story centers around the introverted, socially inept 15-year-old Shinji Ikari. He works (so to speak) for NERV, a government agency devoted to repelling the attacks of the Angels--mechanical beasts seemingly bent on destroying humanity.

With Shinji is the First Child Rei Ayanami. Together, they pilot huge robots known as Evas (short for Artificial Human Evangelion). Close to Shinji is Misato Katsuragi, his 20-something commanding officer, whom he also lives with, not having anywhere else to stay.

Do not be fooled, Evangelion doesn't skimp on the action. But where this story really shines is the characters--per traditional manga, each one has deep character flaws. But they interact somehow much more naturally than most characters in such stories seem to. Each has his or her own set of confounding problems to deal with.

This volume in particular deals with Shinji's conflicting concepts of who he is and who he is told to be, and his more outward battles both with the Angels and with schoolyard bully Toji Suzuhara. The entire feel of Evangelion is enrapturing: the world is a dark reflection of our own situation, and despite the abnormal circumstances under which Shinji exists he still manages to come across as a very human character, something which can at times be almost frightening.

I reiterate, it is difficult to put in words how compelling this manga is. Whether or not you normally look at comics, Evangelion is more than worth the time and money.

For a Pearls Before Swine fan, it's an excellent choice.
If you've not read the comic strip before, read a few online first. It's a well written strip that definitely keeps the reader entertained. I've not been disappointed in the least by any of Stephan Pastis' books.

The cartoon characters are my favorite and having this book is wonderful.
It is to read over and over and over and when and where I want.

Pastis is a genius. When I need a lift, I just open to any page and read until I can't stop laughing.

This is a bizarre little cartoon with a great warped sense of humor. One warning; if you don't like puns and word play, this isn't for you, because this book has some of the worst puns I've ever read. Very clever.

The two main characters are Rat and Pig. Pig is sweet, naive and more than a little stupid. Rat on the other hand smokes, drinks and is arrogant as well as slightly psychotic. Other characters pop up like Zebra who has had numerous friends and relatives eaten by lions. These animals go to work and go out on dates, and make political and social statements that only cartoon animals can get away with. Pearls Before Swine is along the same lines as Bloom County and Far Side. It's not at that level yet, but is well on its way.

This is the only good comic out there. I was getting older and i realized that garfield was really dry and then i discovered pearls. This is the best comic book ever! omg omg omg
