Read this book and dive into adventure with Cimerene and her new best friend Alianora on her journey to complete a very important mission to save the Dragons. The thing i liked about this book is when Kazul became a King because i think Kazul was one of the most powerful Dragons. The book Dealing with Dragons is one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. It held my interest and made me feel good. Between adventure and happiness, Patricia C. Wrede catches your attention and makes you want to read it over and over again.
In the book, the characters were really willing to go and figure out why wizards have been snooping around the Mountains of Morning. That's one of the reasons I liked this book so much. My favorite characters are Cimorene and Kazul. As Cimorene runs away from the castle she meets a kind dragon named Kazul, who lets Cimorene live with her. Later in the book wizards secretly working with a dragon named Worag, who wants to be the king of dragons and is trying to get rid of Cimorene and her friends. In this it was a wild adventure for princess Cimorene.
The book Dealing with Dragons was not a boring book. The author Patricia C. Wrede was able to hold the interest of the reader throughout the story. The description of scenes was really descriptive and you could picture them in your head. There were sad and funny parts throughout the book. One of my favorite parts was when Cimorene and Kazul visited Morwen the witch. Cimorene rode on Kazuls back while she was flying over the tall trees. I was imagining that I was on Kazul too.
After reading this book, I learned many different things. I also couldn't believe how good this book was. The major situation was trying to figure out what the wizards were up to. This book will leave you wanting to read it over and over again.

Princess Cimorene is the daughter to the king of Linderwall...where the knights keep their armor polished for show considering nobody's seen a dragon there in years...

Cimorene HATES it at Linderwall. And she wants to do things, not learn exactly how and when she's supposed to scream if someone decides to come and kidnap her. Cimorene takes classes behind her fathers back for extreme fun. She tries fencing...until her father makes her stop. She tries cooking...until her father stops her. She tries magic...until her father stops her. You get the pattern. If things aren't already bad enough her parents are making her marry Prince Therandil. YUCK!

"I'd rather get eaten by a dragon," Cimorene muttered.
"That can be arranged."

With the advice of a "not" enchanted frog she ends up at a dragons cave and before you know it she's the dragon Kazul's princess. And also before ya know it she's on an adventure.

What happens on that adventure? Well...

She meets a powerful witch, a stone prince, snotty princesses, a kind princess, annoying wizards, mean dragons, and a talking frog.

She finds plants that hurt dragons, a dragons magical stone, and a fire proof spell...she's found A LOT of adventure!

This book is amazing. It will change your view of America's role in the world - just by factual evidence. There is evidence in this book that is hardley ever talked about that is absolutely astounding. FIVE STARS.

In just a few pages Ron Paul makes so much sense of our economy, monetary system, and how people have come to expect nothing different. It's such an easy read that it should be a book everyone in this country should read. Bottom line of his message not a new concept, only a lost and forgotten one. Liberty. A concern of you, me, your neighbor, their childern, our children. The constitution was designed with the intention of the people limiting the government, not the government limiting the people. As we have seen in our lifetime, our government has only become bigger and bigger. This "revolution" is no revolution at all. It's nothing more than the attempt bring the constitution to the forefront of our government, as it was meant to be. Why should our generation and future ones have to live through struggles of times past? Our forefathers already did that. They went through the pains of dictatorships, and fiat monetary systems, etc. Thats what the revolution was. To break free. Thus they created the constitution and the bill of rights. In the last 100 or so yrs our government has slowly attacked the constitution, eroding it to nothing more than an outdated sheet of paper. It's the only thing that protects us. It gives us our liberty. Without it, we will become slaves. Ron Paul shares so much of his education in the short book that it is hard not respond to the message. Freedom.

Ron Paul is a true American hero. I don't want to minimize this statement - anyone who tirelessly works to let people be free, just as they were when they were born, is a hero.

That is what America was founded on. The land of the free. We're far from that today.

Ron Paul doesn't want to run anyone's life. He doesn't want to see American citizens under a police state, taxed to death, drugged from birth, lied to constantly, and working for paper money that, overnight, could become completely worthless.

The Revolution: A Manifesto is brilliant.

Ron Paul clearly explains individual liberty, the concept of freedom and self-reliance, examples of corruption in our political system, views and stances on a variety of important subjects from the position of freedom and individual liberty, and he spends a bit of extra time (thanks Ron!) on Money and the Economy.

It's impossible to separate Money from life, no matter how many times people are told "it's just money". Well, Money is important, and one of the rules for money is that it holds its store of value. Or maybe even grows in value! We deserve SOUND MONEY. Right now, we have "Money" that is disintegrating before our very eyes. Ten years ago, about a dollar bought a gallon of gas. Now about 4 dollars buys a gallon of gas. Ron Paul explains why savers of these fraudulent "dollars" are constantly penalized for saving them.

Education is key in these matters, please pass along the word to your fellow Americans. I personally believe that education in these matters will make or break the movement to restoring freedom in America.

This is a great book. It puts current issues in a new light- one we don't receive from the mainstream media. I wish everyone would read this book.

This book is essentially the guideline of the new Republican Party. The establishment has went out of their way to discredit Dr. Paul, but freedom can't be misconstrued with Orwellian double speak. Once someone reads this book, they will know the answers to their problems, and will feel empowered to become proactive in recapturing the Republic.

Ah,the album that defines Megadeth to this day.
The album that all technical metal is measured against.
This was the album that finally brought Megadeth out from under Metallica's shadow. Rust is Megadeth's Master of Puppets/Reign in Blood.
Yes, it's good enough to stand along those two and is a music changing masterpiece.
If you own only one Megadeth disc, then this is the one to get.
Too bad Megadeth fell down and went boom after this release and they have yet to recover.

After buying the whole Megadeth collection in the last few weeks I thought I would write my first review.
After listening to music for the last 30 years, I'm 38 now, I got into Thrash metal about a year ago after getting into all the early Metallica albums which I love. I had to try the next biggest metal selling band.
I made the mistake of buying Rust in Peace - Remastered which didn't really grab me. Luckily I gave Peace Sells a try and loved it.
After buying all Megadeth albums I realized how great they were. I know a lot of fans prefer their 80s work the best, but I don't think they have made one bad album. By bad I mean Metallica "St Anger" bad which I can't even listen to.
I finally got a copy of the original Rust in Peace and it blew me away. The 1st 2 songs are incredible. The pace and musicianship are mindblowing. From the 3rd song down the pace slows but the songs are still catchy. I wouldn't say it's my favourite Deth album as I like them all but do yourself a favour if you like this type of music, just buy it.
It is one of the best Heavy metal albums of all time.

Gotta get this if you don't already have it. Ranks up there with Metallica's '...And Justice For All' album as being one of the greatest metal albums of all time! Considering that the two records came out around the same time, they certainly complement each other.

Dave Mustaine had the best lineup here, and carried it through the next few albums. Marty Friedman is a GOD on guitar, and a blessing to Megadeth fans everywhere!

Every song is listenable (unlike most of the music released today; bound to be a few duds in the bunch) and every song just kicks major A S S!! From the beginning to the end, this album will keep thrashing you against the walls until you feel like you're gonna explode.

My personal favorites are `Holy Wars ... The Punishment Due' and `Rust In Peace ... Polaris' though any of them could really turn me on, depending on my mood.

My only gripe is that Mustaine had to go and remaster the album a few years ago. I don't have that version, and will unlikely get it (unless my original copy gets toasted somehow). I think this is a cheap gimmick by the artist to boost profits and get people to buy all their old albums all over again. Iron Maiden did this and I haven't forgiven them yet.

Overall, you can't go wrong with this album. I really don't know what the hell's wrong with these people giving the album anything less than 5 stars. This album is just killer!

This CD upped the ante of what metal is .Much the way Ozzy and Rhoades did .The Sound is State of the art The crunch guitars and Bass stay out of each others frequency ranges , the drum parts are as intense as the guitar riffs .The songs are well crafted . The lead guitar has an interesting tension .It's alot of fun .
It should be intersting to see where mustaine goes now after 2 albums ripping the U.S. government a 3ed A-hole , mabey he will get more into other topics like Maiden does ,Lore, myths , urban myths , scary movies, classic novels , how bout Phantasm portholes , or a concept album about a different planet where everything is cool and energy is created by generators that recharge thier own batteries so everything is cheaper!

I had a friend who was a big Megadeth fan, or so he claimed (I never actually seen him listening to his Megadeth collection- only seen the bands CDs always sitting on the shelf).

People keep telling me Megadeth can compare to Metallica in terms of heavy guitar riffs and songwriting, but unfortunately, that's not really true. While Rust In Peace is still a pretty fine album in its own right with a few memorable tunes along the way, it doesn't have the same kind of brutal heaviness and sheer, overwhelming rock power and energy that Metallica had in abundance on those four 80's albums. It feels more like a band TRYING to be like Metallica but falling slightly short.

Some of the guitar soloing is really spectacular though. The lyrics are pretty good in places as well. The guitar riffs and vocal melodies however, sound like they're recycled and watered down compared to the mighty speed/thrash metal kings, Metallica. The first two songs on the album are really wonderful though, along with a few other tracks. Still, you'd be better off sticking with Metallica to find out who the real leaders of heavy metal were. No, Megadeth won't be remembered the same way Metallica was, sort of like how Creed won't be remembered the way Pearl Jam will. We won't be remembering inferior copycats in the long run.

An absolutely fantastic biography. McCullough not only gives us an incredibly in-depth account of Truman's role in such momentous events as the decision to drop the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Potsdam Conference (Truman's only face-to-face meeting with Stalin or Uncle Joe as he called him), the Truman Doctrine, The Marshall Plan, the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War, the firing of General MacArthur and so on, but he also succeeds wonderfully in injecting joviality into this rather thick tome through his unsurpassed ability to recount the human side of Truman, the quirkiness, the common trials and errors of a human being and the like.

I am not an American, but I always tell my friends that if I were Truman would be my favorite president. This book only serves to reinforce my view. Overall, one of the best biographies I've read. If I ever became famous one day, I'd really love someone of McCullough's caliber to write my biography. Highly recommended.

Truman dropped two atomic bombs on Japan to end World War II. He did what he had to do and what had to be done to end the worst war in the history of the planet. He was essentially carrying out the policies of Roosevelt, who died in office. Truman passed the buck when he sent troops to Korea to contain Communism. He fired General Douglas MacArthur, who wanted to nuke the Chinese. Limited war as policy set a precedent for Vietnam. Korea is still a problem. Peaceful reunification is the only solution.

You might think it odd that I would call a nearly 1,000 page biography incomplete- particularly after giving it a five-star review- but for all the detail McCullough supplies about Truman's life, he misses some very important details. More about that in a minute.

I very nearly did not read this book, as my previous experience with David McCullough's biographyies was his book on John Adams- another very detailed, very well written work that is obvously the work of a man who fell so in love with his subject that it not only blinded McCullough to Adams' flaws, it led him to depict such great men as Franklin and Jefferson as Adams saw them- a vew quite at odds with the portraits painted by other historians.

Nonetheless, I went ahead and plunged into this work, and found it far superior to the Adams biography. The picture McCullough paints of Truman clearly shows the admiration McCullough holds his subject in, yet it also includes many of Truman's flaws- his temper, at times, his lack of education in many areas, his poor judgment and downright naiitivity in his dealings with Stalin, and some of his appointments. At the same time it does a great job of showing how Truman's family and business background and his experience in local Missouri politics shaped his later career as president.

What's lacking, first and foremost, is any discussion of post-WWI economics, and Truman's roll, and the role of Congress, in shaping the postwar economic system. An ecomist friend, noting that I was reading the book, asked me if there was any discussion of James Byrnes in the book. There is a great deal, but none of it regarding Brynes' role in setting policy, either as FDR's Director of Economic Stabilization or later under Truman. Another important player- Henry Walllace- gets short shrift as well. There is much discussion of the political machincations behind replacing Henry Wallace with Truman in FDR's third run at the presidency, but not enough on exactly what made Walllace both an object of admiration to his supporters and a dangerously
naiive successor to FDR to his enemies. Also lacking is a real discussion of how Truman, like FDR before him, had no problem in using, and some would argue abusing, the executive powers of his office to threaten both unions and businesses into compliance with his aims.

But what McCullough does provide is a superbly constructed narrative that is, I think, more complete, more accurate, and more interesting than any of the previous popular biographies of Truman. It's a first-rate read and an excelllent education for both Truman fans and critics.

I really enjoyed this book. The book gets better as you get further into the book (that is not to say the start of the book is lacking anything). It does a great job staying focused on the man and not events of the time. WWII, The Atom bomb and other big events could have easily taken over this story and while the man of course had a big role to play in these things the book does great job staying focused on Truman and his life.

For anyone who has ever cheered for an underdog or bet on a longshot, this is a great read. HST had no money, no family position and no formal higher education--but he did great things for America. McCullough gives us his best story yet, with all the rich detail and factual substance we have come to expect from today's greatest political biographer. If I could read only one political biography again-this would be it.

I read this book in 2006 but recently read it again...and I just simply love it. EJD really goes down deep in the soul with Debra, that made me cry!!! I love this book sooo much, it was well developed and the characters realllyyy had some depth to them...this is one of my favs besides 'liars game' and 'the other woman'!!! If you are just becoming a fan of EJD, you need to read this and then move on to others...lovedddddd it!

I have just complete this book and I must say I totally enjoyed it. Dickey captures the reality of relationships in a way that is sooo deep. The petty nuisances, the fights, the lovemaking, the distractions. He also connects on a deeper level by addresing issues which affect us in relationships (childhood experiences, past relationships) that come back to haunt us when we least expect it.

The one thing that was a little off was his time scheme where Debra was only approx 6mths pregnant when tragedy struck which made me wonder if the story was months old or years old. The time lapses needed to be a little clearer. Butttt it was a great read and I could not put it down (completed in two days flat).

I have read this book 6 times and counting (because I will definitely read it again). I just purchased the play last week and it's just as good. The way the story unfolds has you wanting everyone to win. Don't want to give it away but if you are sentimental you will cry, trust me. I am a fan of EJD's books and I knew this would be my favorite one before I read any other ones. A great buy that will not disappoint.

I have had this book for a while but just felt compelled to write a review on it. I have read this book so many times I have lost count. It is a timeless romance that would appeal to black and white, man or woman. This book is just an all around good read. I used to not enjoy reading at all & it was EJD's books that started me into the world of reading. Like a previous reviewer said it is not your ordinary happy ending romance but by the time you get to the end it is well worth the ride. You will laugh, you will cry, you will identify with the characters. If you ever wanted or needed to believe in love, and finding happiness against all odds then this is the book for you. Honestly....JUST DO YOURSELF A FAVOR & READ THIS BOOK!!!

Out of all the books I've read by EJD, this one was hands down my favorite. I loved Leonard and Debra together. Shelby and Tyrel....not so much. I thought Shelby was narcissitic and Tyrel was just too good for her. Leonard and Debra were perfect for one another. I've read this book countless times, with the same results...I laugh and I cry each time. If ever you're in doubt about Eric Jerome Dickey's writing skills, pick up this book and you will never have to question them again.

This is the most disappointing thing I have ever bought online. Actually, I don't know because it hasn't come yet. I ordered it over a week and a half ago and it still hasn't come. Why sell when you don't deliver?

Wild Magic, a book by Tomora Pierce and the first book in the series The Immortals, is about a girl named Daine. Daine was always good with animals. Then she leaves her home and realizes she is more than good with animals; she has magic. Her magic allows her to talk to them and they obey her. Her magic is about to run away with her when her new job sets her in the company of a kind mage named Numair. Numair helps her learn how to control and use her magic.
My favorite part was when all the birds in the story help Daine fight off several Stormwings. Even though they all die, Daine's powers seep out and bring the birds back to life, fix broken wings, and heal their wounds. This book would be great for anyone in to fantasy and fiction books, more for someone in 6th too 8th grade. I don't really know, older groups of people might like it as well. I give this book a 10 on a scale of 1:10.
This book has sparked my imagination. I am always thinking about how life would be if we had magical powers. This book is very entertaning and keeps the adventure going. I hope you read the other books in the Immortals series. This book captivated me. I hope you enjoy/ enjoyed it as much as I have.

This is an excellent book. Tamora Pierce is a great author. I just bought another copy of this book because I misplaced my first copy.

The story is fantasic, and the audiobook really brings it to life. There are different voices for everyone and it keeps your intrest. It also keeps at a good pace, but not too fast.

Not only is this an EXCELLENT story but it's also the best audiobook I've ever heard. The casting is EXCELLENT (OK, I'm wearing that word out, but I can't help it. LOL); I've heard many audiobooks, but never one with so many actors. A full-cast is new to me, and it felt like listening to TV, a statement I intend as a compliment. Sarge's bellows and Onua's gleefully saying that she was going to "torture some trainees" were so realistic I had to laugh. I had some difficulty understanding the boy playing Tom (a 6-year old character), but, then, young kids' speech isn't always easy to understand anyway. The music adds to the presentation, unlike being a distraction in other audios. I'm not 10, 42, in fact, but I VERY highly recommend this audiobook to other adults who enjoy good fantasy.

It's encouraging that this is the #1 book on the topic of 9/11 in Amazon. It deserves to be. Not content with depicting the terrible events of 9/11, Wright brilliantly and logically draws out the origins of the nihilist religious movement that formed the ideological motor of 9/11. The roots of 9/11 are twofold: in the writings of Egyptian expatriate Sayyid Qutb, who ironically wrote his most inflammatory works while an academic guest in Colorado (some of Qutb's works form the Mein Kampf of Islamic extremism); and the toxic Wahhabi Muslim sect in Saudi Arabia. When you finish the chapters on these topics, you will thoroughly understand the repellent underpinnings of Saudi-specific culture, which in fact have very little to do with the humane face of Islam.

Obviously, the central figure in this book is Osama Bin Laden, and you will also find yourself knowing more than perhaps you really wanted to know about this unusually prolific mass-murderer. In Qutb's and Bin Laden's world, the deaths of innocent Muslims are of no more value than blowing your nose in a Kleenex.

The ultimate issue exposed beyond debate in this book is the calamitous incompetence of the CIA, coupled with the hidebound bureaucratic stupidity pervading all levels of the FBI, with its institutional rigidity and lack of acceptance of technology. The lion's share of the blame for the failure of the United States to forestall the attacks really has to be laid at the doors of President Bill Clinton and his CIA directors, who were responsible for the policies disallowing the CIA from sharing any intelligence information whatever with law enforcement authorities inside the US. Secondary blame has to be laid at the door of the Bush Administration, who had ample warning of impending attacks and had absolutely no interest in proceeding even with the lamentably weak anti-terrorism policies of the Clinton administration.

But, ultimately, as I've noted, the CIA is really to blame as an institution for allowing the 9/11 attacks to succeed. It leaves an indelible impression of decadence and decline in America, and that particular institution should be disbanded and those CIA functionaries who did not share vital information with the FBI really should be thrown in prison for the rest of their lives, starting with ex-Director Tenet. There is no excuse for such meretricious incompetence. Absolutely none. My fondest hope is that one or two of the people mentioned in the book as having committed these acts of arrogant stupidity will read these words or those of others on this page. These CIA people have as much blood on their hands as Bin Laden, as far as I'm concerned.

Can you tell I'm really, really angry with these people? You will be too, by the time you finish reading this book. The final chapter, "The Big Wedding," painstakingly describes the attack on the USS Cole and its aftermath, and clearly draws a direct line between that attack and the one that single-handedly (and ironically) ensured George Bush a second term. The book climaxes with a strikingly brief but utterly visual and devastating real-time narrative of the attacks as the ex-FBI man John O'Neill (another central figure in the book, who reminds me strongly of Tony Soprano if Soprano was a big-time FBI man) experienced them. This book will be read and discussed a century and more from now. It is an essential work of our time.

Looming Tower should be required reading for all Americans. It is by far the best book about Al Qaeda and its antecedents. While it is extremely comprehensive, it is never boring. I find it extraordinary how Wright was able to develop such a book so soon after 9/11. It reads more like a book written 20 years after the fact rather than just 5 years.

Wright is particularly good at "developing the characters of his story." In this it reads more like a great novel, rather than a typical non-fiction book. Wright creates fascinating portraits of Sayyid Qtub (the intellectual founder of modern Jihadism), Abdullah Azzam (the cleric who gave a fatwa calling on all Muslims to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan, Ayman Al Zawahiri (the intellectual and organizational founder of Al Qaeda) and finally Osama Bin Laden (the financier and symbolic leader of Jihad), Jamal Al-Fadl (the defector who first told the incredulous FBI of the existence of the Al Qaeda), Ali Mohammed (who infiltrated the US Special Forces, copied their manuals and started the How to wage jihad encyclopedia).

Particularly interesting is how all of these radical leaders came from the upper-crust of Arab societies. One might expect that their anger and violent rhetoric came from very poor people, but that is not the case.

Also interesting is how Al Qaeda's strategy and organization gradually evolved out of a serious of historical accidents - the visit of Qtub to the USA; the imprisonment of Zawahiri after Sadat's assassination; the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan; Zawahiri's work in a Kuwaiti hospital with radical Jihadi doctors; the near destruction of infant Al Qaeda in one small skirmish with the Soviet army; squabbles within Al Qaeda after the Soviets withdrew resulting in the assassination of Assam; the inability of the Arabs to return to their country after the war due to government hostility against the very people they recruited; the coup in Sudan which gave Al Qaeada a base just when they were losing their old one in Afghanistan; the USA passing up Sudan's offer to extradite bin Laden due to lack of evidence to prosecute him.

Wright also dismantles the myth that Al Qaeda brought down the Soviet Union by destroying their army in Afghanistan. This is a foundational myth for Al Qaeda and key to understand their seemingly irrational desire to attack the USA. Wright shows that only a few hundred Arab troops were actually in combat, and they did so mostly after the Soviets started withdrawing. Arab troops did not come in large numbers until after the Soviets completely withdrew, and they spent most of their time fighting against Afghan Muslims and each other. Even by the end of the war, the organization was just one of dozens of almost irrelevant radical organizations.

Wright somehow manages to maintain an objective perspective despite the murderous rhetoric, thoughts and action of his subjects.

wright prepared an excellent book. it's written as engagingly as a novel, but it is choke full of detail which has been corroborated. this was a fantastic page-turner. it did not provide the kind of detail that i sought regarding the actual attacks of 9/11, how individuals were trained and supported, etc. - it provided a comprehensive background on what was going on and who was involved. looking at the pages of interviews, pages of references, i am convinced of the thoroughness of the author and i appreciate why this book was the winner of the pulitzer prize. outstanding work!!!

A must read for any informed U.S. citizen. We all need to recommend it to our legislators for their reading..

I have read extensively about Islamic terrorism and Al Qaeda and The Looming Tower is by far the most compelling and comprehensive book on this subject. It clearly lays out the social, philosophical and theological progression and foundations that led to 9/11. Though you may not agree, by the end of the book you clearly understand the radical extemist's rationale and the historic time line of the people and events that led to 9/11. Though it provides history, The Looming Tower reads like a novel which I could not put down. It is the seminal book on this subject.

I purchased this book for my daughter. She read and finished the book and told me that it was well written and that it was very interesting reading. I didn't read it so I would be hesitant to recommend.

I loved this book! My heart goes out to Sharon Rocha and the rest of Laci's family.

I was pregnant with my 3rd son when Laci went missing and was so devastated to hear how she went missing. As time went on, and I looked at Scott on TV, I could tell he was guilty. He was blank, cold, and detached looking. I felt so sad for Laci and her son. She was so beautiful and looked to be like such a sweet loving woman. I was drawn to the story, and waited for her mother to write a book about her. I realized it might not happen, but was happy when she finally wrote this book. I read the book by Scott's half sister, and really enjoyed that book. I also read this book and cried like a baby at certain parts. I was confused how Laci could have been so trusting of Scott, as most women (or at least I thought) have women's intuition that would tell them something was wrong. I am happy that her mother wrote this book. I always wondered what went on with Laci's side of the family during this whole tragedy. Even though I cried many tears while reading this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

When the story of Laci broke news, I thought it wouldn't be as sensational as it turned out to be, I mean how many people go missing, or are murdered;my husband thought the same way. I began reading the books about Laci and the investigation, which covered forensic, and mental health issues, but no emotional feelings until I read Sharon's book. It's powerful in its own right. A must read!

This is a compelling book which reads very quickly, as it is hard to put down. Sharon Rocha paints a lovely portrait of her daughter Laci. You can't help be empathetic as evil moves in around her. I have an incredible amount of respect for her and the search-and-rescue fund/foundation she created. This tugs at heartstrings and elicits tears. I can't help but cry.

*Remember that I am not the target audience for this book, so younger adults will enjoy this novel.

For die-hard Redwall fans, or even the casual readers who've picked up any Redwall book would know who Martin is. He is the source of prayer to the Redwallers, the mouse that annoyingly sticks his snout in other's dreams, giving riddles to the would-be-warrior. He is also featured on a tapestry that hangs at the Great Hall. And what you are holding in your hands, or are probably about to, are the story behind the warrior, and how he was so well honored among the Redwallers and all free good woodland critters.

In the book, Martin is a young mouse who is slave to a wicked stoat named Badrang the Tyrant. He has gathered up a large horde of every evil stereotypical villain except for stoats like himself, and plenty of slaves who mostly do the work of enlarging his fortress called Marshank. He is a sly, wicked beast, like any Redwall villain, stuck with a 'friend' (I say this term loosely because you know there is never any deep relationship between vermin buddies) named Clogg, a corsair stoat, and backstabbing one another to get control of Marshank. Martin defies Badrang, escapes with a few slaves, and then he gathers up an army to attack Marshank and end Badrang's tyranny.

For the pros, this book is up there as my rare Redwall favorites simply because you got at least two characters who are woodland good but turn bad like the bankvole named Druwp, who acts as a spy among the slaves, and a tribe of squirrels who give in to Martin and help him fight.

It's a decent Redwall novel that I do enjoy and that's saying something, since most of my Redwall reviews have been negative. Perhaps I have taken this book as it is (finally): a good childhood story. Well, it's a good story, when you get down to it.

This book is supposed to be about 'Martin the Warrior'. About how his legacy lived on in so many creatures when all other heroes have been forgotten. So this book must be special, and it is.

The characters were mostly one dimensional, with exception to a few villains like Clogg and Badrang, who were very neat, twisted villains with good motives. Rose was put up there to serve as a very weak love interest for Martin that I wished could've been a tiny bit more developed. Felldoh was a very interesting character, and I can admit that I did like him, and I would have liked him a lot more hadn't he fallen through the same path of wickedness as a vermin, or from what the kind, peace-loving woodland creatures call them. I mean, this guy kills off the rats and weasels without blinking, always using revenge as a motive to not care, or because these guys are wicked, that they don't even have souls or lives. The fact that these runaway slaves are so good at handling weapons, far better than any rogue who's had many years experience using swords and such, can also be bending some reality rules here.

But there really isn't much realism here, I'll admit. I mean, when a mouse is the same size as a fox as a fox is to a squirrel, and when all the bad guys act like dumb idiots who have no idea how to keep pecking order, there isn't much room for reality left. How can a couple of dimwitted morons like Badrang's horde even be in a horde if they're always backstabbing one another and running away from woodland creatures in fear?

Adults and those with older mentalities will say these questions, but this is a children's book. And I actually did like it, even with those questions in mind. Skeptics will have a hard time reading it, like myself, but I really did like this book, no matter what insane flaws, and I did get a good few laughs from the bumbling villainy idiots.

If you're looking for a legend, you will actually find it here, and it is better than 'The Legend of Luke'.

A fantastic story from the Redwall series, Martin the Warrior, is a mix of friendship and battles against a ruthless rat clan. This "National best seller" from Brian Jacques is about a mouse named Martin, who gets captured in the rat's prison. This story is full of foxes, lizards, moles, rats, and of course, mice. Most fantasy lovers and animal lovers will keep rereading this fantastic book about how friendship can help others in times of conflict. As most good stories are, all Brian Jacques books are well more than worth reading. And all animals have human characteristics.

I have to admit that when I first heard of the Redwall series, I had my doubts. I mean, a book about animals? However, I decided to give them a chance and now they are my favorite books of all time.
Martin the Warrior is my favorite out of the series. I love how the characters interact with each other in a way that makes you want to be more like them. They stuck together through everything, and in the end the slaves were freed and the sword that once belonged to Luke was returned to it's rightful owner, Martin the Warrior.
I recommend this book, as well as the whole series to kids of all ages. If you like the Redwall books, you will probably also like Brian jacques' other series, the Castaway series.

Great series for young and old looking for a mental shut-down for bed book.

i read this book as a child and i loved it. it made everyone i know who read it cry.if u like lurlene mc daniel, you will love this book it was one of my favorites.

okay i know it's been said a thousand times but thus was a great book. it is so far my favorite lurelene mcdaniel book. It tells the story of Julie and her boyfrien Luke and his struggle with leukimia.i won't spoil the ending but it was a real tear jerker. i reccomend all of her books.

The book is called Don't die,My love.It is a tear jerking story.If one likes romance they will like this story.A good romance always pops out
some people and to some it does not and it always captures people in the moment. This certain romance is a realy, really good one and it really popped out to me.When people die it tears people apart.

This was my second time reading Don't Die My Love by Lurlene McDaniel and it made me cry just as hard. This book explains the struggles of going through cancer treatments. Luke and Julie fall in love and their relationship starts to deteriorate as Lukes health takes a turn for the worst, Julie struggles to help and slowly Luke pushes her away. Alot of parts in this book can make you cry because its detailed so well that you can almost see it going on in your head its a touching love story and a MUST READ in my book i will defaniatly be reading it again <3 Lurlene McDaniel is also my favorite author

This is my second time reading this book and what can I say, I cried both times..I love it!!! One of the BEST books I've ever read!!!It is probably one of the saddest book out there as well. Don't Die, My Love is about Luke and Julie who had been childhood lovers and now is in high school and has a love bigger than anything..Luke is the football star quarterback and is madly in love with Julie and she is madly in love with Luke..One day what seems to be a little bump on the neck turned into a serious illness and soon Luke is put into the hospital. Julie, with nothing to do, but be by his side all the way despite of everything..Their love is so powerful and so sweet..This book is definitely GREAT and SAD, it makes your heart wrench..I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone!! It is one that you won't regret reading!!!
