This book, unlike other CRCs, is not filled with tables upon tables of constants; rather, it is a collection of articles of
different thermoelectric experiments. This book has articles ranging from complex to simple, but in general it's clear, understandable,
and a good read. Unfortunately, most of the articles are very specific to specialized fields of thermoelectrics and the book
won't always answer your questions about different TE devices.

The Future of retail media advertising!

Every ad agency or marketing director should have a copy of this book on their shelves. Marketing and graphics design students
would also benefit. Digital Signs are becoming pervasive, from airport displays to retail stores to information kiosks, and
they provide an excellent new revenue opportunity. This book provides a complete over-view of the current technology and applications
for this rapidly evolving new medium, providing examples and applications. The book is logical and thorough. Reading like
a series of classes, Mr. Lundstrom not only provides a discussion of the progression of digital signs from simple systems
to complex, he makes difficult technical concepts easy for the non-technical person to understand. He frames key design questions
and provides the parameters to use for evaluation of the solution right for a particular application: What type of screen
to choose? What makes digital signs different from television? What kind of media server will work best? How does one feed
multiple locations? At what point does the internet help? At what number of locations should one turn to a satellite broadcast
solution? What is an edge server? How can one "stream" video? How can one mix "live" content with pre-recorded materials?
What is a playlist and how does scheduling work? What is content management? The majority of the book is devoted to the evolution
of a Digital Signage system, network designs and the current state of the art in distribution. Business people will find the
Ninth and Tenth chapters most helpful for they focus on the gathering of content, billing concerns and operating considerations.
For executives, Chapter Eleven lists a number of the applications currently used in the US and Europe, and discusses the idea
of creating an environment to drive the consumer to use in inter-active and static viewing screens. The book does not provide
a list of software suppliers, equipment manufacturers and system integrators, although a few are mentioned as examples. The
author includes a thorough glossary and addendum outlining some of the more technical aspects of transmission calculations.
It is clear he has worked with many of these different types of networks and has established a web site for continuing education
and communications. It is full of information, most of which will not become dated so this book can remain a reference for
many years.

There is only one other review for this book and the review had high praises for this book and I agree except for one main
item that I will talk about later.
First I would like to say that the book has a little of everything which is great. I'm just starting in the switchgear industry in the USA and using the book as a reference is a good thing. I would like to also recommend the book Circuit Breakers, Switchgear and Me by Robert A McMaster PE he has a flare for writing in a more informal way. It discusses about the same things as this book.
Now for the part that I am not liking too much. The book is obviously not written from a US standpoint that is try I mentioned that I was starting in the industry in the USA. It uses terms like "earthing" which I figure to mean grounding. And also the majority of references in the book are from UK. All in all the principles are sound but keep in mind that testing and practices in the USA and UK or Europe are different.

Stan Stewart wrote an excellent book about distribution switchgear, i first thought before buying this book that there aren't
too much to learn about this subject, but after reading the first few pages of the book i was surprised, Mr. Stewart explanation
is simply elegant and the historical aspects he explains is very important to fully understand switchgear.
This and the fact that Mr. Stewart have many years of experience in the field and worked at GEC Alstom; one of the industry leaders, encouraged me to buy this book.
In every part of the book Mr. Stewart give through explanation, even sometimes you may feel he didn't explain a point throughly you find the next paragraph detailing it clearly in a very logical manner.
This book as i see is useful to engineers interested in switchgear according to IEC standards, and the material inside is more than sufficient for Sales Eng. , project Eng., newcomers to the field, Eng. preparing training materials,...
And it is very good introduction for design engineers and those interested in R&D in the field since it collect a wealth of information, but don't expect to find inside how to design distribution switchgear (i.e. design busbars, contact systems,...) but the material in the book is very important in that it explain how the technical details affect final product design and usage and also point out the technologies used so that interested Eng. can research it more. (i.e. Why its important to measure contact closing timing during testing ? , How does overvoltages affect switchgear operation ? and what are its types )
Finally the book is upto date although some new technologies wasn't explained in detail, but this will be easy to understand after reading the book. (i.e. autopuffer circuit breaker)
I highly recommend this book and would like to thank Mr.Stewart for this excellent work.
I would like to mention some points, i would like it to be added in the next editions of the book
1) Explaination of "Pole Center Distance" and its importance.
2) More explaination of the different breakdown mechanizms in Air and SF6 mainly the difference between switching impulse and lighting impulse.
3) Autopuffer technique and thermal expansion in SF6 CBs.

This book isn't bad. But the content makes it difficult to be entertaining. I would compare it to a college freshmen economic
textbook. But it's not just boring text. There are interesting graphs and charts. And even some lame cartoons. But it's done
very well and has some excellent commentary. It's almost entertaining. But again, it's tough to sit down and actually read
content about labor unions and minimum wage and stay excited. But as far as the books that I've seen or read that paint a
big picture of our economy and it's current state . . . this is the best.
Informative, important, and easy to read

Co-authors Chuck Collins and Felice Yeskel discuss the widening gap between America's rich and poor, and why it's in our interest
to pay attention.
With clarity and conviction, Economic Apartheid In America details the reasons for this country's increasing disparity between the wealthiest and everyone else. It begins with a discussion of the societal risks economic inequality poses, including a decrease in family security, threats to our democratic institutions, and the decay of social cohesion. The book indicates that families in all but the highest earning brackets face declining real incomes, increasing personal debt, a virtual disappearance in both retirement and personal savings, and unavailable or unaffordable health care coverage. In addition, education and child care costs are on the rise and the federal minimum wage is so outdated it can no longer realistically keep a family of four above the poverty line.
The authors explain how high concentrations of wealth place excessive power in the hands of too few, primarily through political influence and corporate disenfranchisement of workers. This has resulted in an uneven playing field on which the wealthiest individuals and corporations enjoy higher income, numerous tax breaks, and greater returns on investment, while the poorest are expected to bear higher living costs, declining income, and an ever-increasing tax burden. The book also discusses the persistent disparities in earning power for minorities and women.
Collins and Yeskel point out that it wasn't always this way. In the post World War II era families in every income bracket enjoyed comparably sized increases in earnings, allowing a more even distribution of wealth and, with the notable exceptions of women and minorities, a greater level of overall prosperity. Now, in the post-Reagan era of globalization and the proliferation of "free-market capitalism," corporations have compromised wage-earner security through downsizing, outsourcing, and excessive executive compensation.
The book admonishes readers to effect change through the use of grassroots organizing efforts, the support of political leaders who favor limits on corporate welfare and an increase in the minimum wage, the reinvigoration of unionized labor, and the creation/adaptation of government social services that support working families. In addition, several strategies, from socially responsible investing to publicly funded elections, are offered as methods to close the economic divide.
Other notable topics discussed in the book include the Federal Reserve's over-aversion to inflation, the abuse of commonwealth resources, a cultural shift towards greed and consumerism, and the perpetuation of class divide via intergenerational retention of wealth. While at times the book suffers from a tone of activist desperation, overall it offers an informed summation and practical solutions for a critical issue facing society.

A Bit Disappointing and Dusted, Yet Worthy to Read Nevertheless as a Special Interest

Review Date: 2007-09-08
I read the 2003 reprint of the 1929 original by E. A. Wallis Budge who is also known for having translated the Egyptian Book
of the Dead. As the latter is known to have been faulty, similar to the pioneer 1927 translation of the The Tibetan Book of
the Dead: First Complete Translation (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) (by another translator), this version might be faulty,
too. What all three books have in common is that their real titles are never called some country's Book of the Dead (as the
alternative title of this one is: "An Ethiopian Book of the Dead"). Rather, it is "(The) Bandlet of Righteousness", though
Budge makes it clear that variating translations are possible. The actual text is 28 pages long only. However, the introduction
is 74 pages long and the prayers in the appendix 39 pages. The original Ge'ez text is included as well, altogether accumulating
224 pages.
I hoped to find more - or any at all - mysticism according to the English popular title. Nevertheless the text is termed Gnostic. It is said to have been given by God before I-Yasus/Jesus and by Jesus to Mary later as well. Personally, I didn't really find the main text that tremendously rewarding. It is basically about the notion of names (of God) causing existence. As such, a lot of names are provided and not that much else. It should be noted that the text was taken from the wrapping of a buried corpse.
The introduction of 1929 is dated, unsurprisingly. Terms such as "Muhammadans", "pagan Egyptian" and the N-word in the female version are still used. Isis and Mary are seen identical in a specific context and not yet that the latter is actually derived from the former. In the same vein, a connection between the Celts and North Africans is drawn, without realising that the Celts most probably originated from North Africa (which actually had been known to some in the 19th century already, read e.g. Ancient and Modern Britons: Volume One (Ancient & Modern Britons)). On the other hand, throughout the book, the terms Jah, Alpha and Omega, Iyasus (and 'Aten) are provided. In pre-RastafarI Imes! Very revealing indeed.
Also revealing the mention of homosexuality in one of the appendix prayers as leading to torture in hell, as it isn't that easy to come by erotist/amorist (homophobe) texts from Ethiopia as it is from Euro-Christianity. The two catches are: Included in the same breath is fornication, traditionally known to be the favorite pastime in Jamaica. But than again, RastafarI isn't really about Babylon Jamaica. Interestingly, children are described as sinners in this context, too, which makes I wonder... The second catch is: The prayer is directed to soothe the wrath against such sinners as everybody would be one and not a single human would be spared. Therefore, for all sinners, an escape route is provided. Not from the "sinning", but from the punishment. How about that?! Sure sounds more African than the Jamaican approach, which is actually the colonial European way, if I fellow Anancies would care to take the Imes to research the origin of that attitude a bit...

The title put on the cover is a little bit misleading because this is a reprint of of the 1929 editon of The Bandlet of Rightousness
An Ethiopian Book of Life Also Known As The Ethiopian Book of Dead (so the title page says). This is valuable book for the
persons interested in magic elements in Ethiopic tradition. It deals with several Christian [!] spells, mystic God's names
etc. It is pretty important for Ethiopic tradition. So buy this book which has also the original Ge'ez text attached.
ATTENTION: Do not be misled by the similiar title reccomended also by Amazon, I mean The Bandlet of Rightousness The Ethiopian Book of Dead! Do not buy it! It is the same book as recently reviewed although deprived of Ge'ez original. See my review of that item.

Simpson's field guide is a comprehensive encyclopedic guide to trees "naturally" occuring in Texas. For each species, it provides
a shaded map of its counties of occurrence, as well as one page summary of the tree's characteristics and habitats. The color
plates (one for each species)are helpful but small. My only complaint is that the omitted general illustrations of the leaf,
silhouette, flowers, and fruits of the various trees would have been of great usefullness to the amateur naturalist. Thus,
this book must be paired with another to be of maximum utility in the field.

The first time I readed this book I started to realise this book is not solely about sexual abuse or traumatic wounds. The
principles written are universal for every human being. I could agree with all the principles described. I know counsellors
as well as survivors of sexual abuse and found they became blessed by reading this book.

The Specter of Walter Rodney

Dr. Walter Rodney is the Leon Trotsky of the Afro-Caribbean. Apart from sharing the same fate, assassination, his intellectual
works is standing up to the test of time and like Trotsky's own works, is now proving to be prophetic.
Rodney's "The Groundings with my Brothers," first published almost 40 years ago analyzed the historical development of the African Diaspora and that community's liberation struggles for independence under the "new conditions of oppression."
Rodney pointed out that the beneficiaries of neoliberal independence, in the African Diaspora, were a narrow group of elites drawn from the middle-class, yet despite their racial composition would continue to act as mere representatives for the big trading and financial bourgeois of the North.
With a few exceptions, in the areas of health, education, access to economic opportunities, employment and justice, very little has changed for the Black Diaspora's masses since Walter Rodney's writing in 1969.
As Rodney predicted, "The local lackeys of imperialism have long had to admit the existence of tremendous social injustice....the administration of the law has become more vicious and partisan".
He went on, "since `independence' the black police force...have demonstrated that they can be as savage in their approach to black brothers as the white police of New York, for ultimately they serve the same master."
This brilliant work, "The Groundings with my Brothers" is Walter Rodney's Specter haunting the African Diaspora's opportunist and elites.

Walter Rodney was born in 1942 in Guyana. He was born to a poor working class family. Walter Rodney was a brilliant scholar. He attended Queen's College in Guyana and the University of West Indies in Jamaica. He obtained his PhD in 1966 (at the tender age of 24) from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, England. His PhD thesis was on the slave trade on the upper Guinea coast.
His thesis was widely acclaimed for its originality in challenging the conventional wisdom on the area. He traveled widely and became very well known around the world as an activist and scholar. He taught at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania which was well known as the haven of pan African political thinking and activism.
Rodney was sharply critical of the middle class for its role in the post-independence Caribbean. By 1968 Rodney's groundings with the working poor of Jamaica had begun to attract the attention of the government. When he attended a Black Writers' Conference in Montreal, Canada, in October 1968, the Jamaican Government of prime Minister Hugh Shearer banned him from re-entering the country. This action sparked widespread riots and revolts in Kingston in which several people were killed and injured by the police and security forces, and millions of dollars worth of property destroyed. Rodney's encounters with the Rastafarians were published in a pamphlet entitled "Grounding with My Brothers," that became a bible for the Caribbean Black Power Movement.
These riots triggered an increase in political awareness across the Caribbean. Rodney became a prominent Pan Africanist, and was important in the Black Power movement in the Caribbean. While living in Dar es Salaam he was influential in developing a new centre of African learning and discussion.
In 1974 Rodney returned to Guyana. He became increasingly active in politics, working for the Working People's Alliance. Rodney died in a car bomb assassination in 1980, widely blamed on the Guyanese government.
