I felt that this book writen by Dr. Heldt was thoroughly insightful and was full of great ideas.

Quantitative Measurements for Logistics evolved from my desk notes collected from over 25 years working in military logistics. I found that I had to relearn how to perform basic logistics calculations whenever I used them. During my Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) study, there was no single source for all of the logistics mathematics that would be on the exam. I took those desk notes and typed them into the PC to consolidate and format them. After sharing my efforts with co-workers, it became apparent that others also had a need for the information.

This book is intended to be used as a desk top reference. It is not a textbook by itself but is a good supplement to other logistics textbooks; especially those within the McGraw-Hill / SOLE press. In addition to the mathematical formulas, acronyms and definitions of many commonly found logistics terms were included.

QML is for both business and military logisticans. The major differences between the two is that while business logisticians generally know what products they need to move, the military logistics engineer spends a great deal of time determining what items need to be moved in order to support the warfighter. Most of the formulas in this book may be applied to both groups of logisticians.

QML is an indispensable reference on my desk. I hope that other logisticians and students of logistics and supply chain management also find that it is of benefit to them. My goal in publishing this information was to share my knowledge and experience with other logisticians. In 1981 while I was attending a French Immersion Program at Laval University in Quebec, I came across this book at the campus library. I read the book in one sitting, finding it to be well written and fast paced. After a recent vacation in Quebec, I decided to order the book to read again. Although it took two sittings to read it a second time, I found it to be just as good as the first time. Furthermore, the latest edition with additional maps, diagrams, pictures and comment by Donald Graves makes it even more informative and descriptive. This book is highly recomended for a thoughtful and informed knowledge of the events in Quebec in 1759.

In The Quest For A Democratic World, Mauric Rotstein undertakes a critical and comprehensive analytical survey of the political system in the West while raising questions concerning some of the literature in the social sciences. Rotstein reveals stereotypes that have become so fixed that they stubbornly survive despite flagrant and obvious contradictions to fact and reality. The Quest For A Democratic World is highly recommended, informative, thought provoking reading and an ideal addition to any political science, international studies, or comparative government studies reading list or academic reference collection.

As indicated by the title, this book is about supply chain management in the consumer product goods and retail industry sectors. There are several chapters on the evolution of Quick Response in the 1980's to Supply Chain Management in the 1990's. The outstanding feature of the book is that the authors have included real case studies and based their findings on a decade of solid research into sourcing, forecasting and replenishment. There are many quantitative findings published from their research with retailers and manufacturers using simulation tools and quantitative analysis.

This is by far the most comprehensive text dealing with the rails and relatives. Contains excellent biological, reproductive and ecological information. The distribution maps are somewhat general but probably intentionally so. The color plates are descriptive and accurate. Even includes the most rare and extinct species. An asset for the wetlands ecologists and Gruiformes specialists.

This is a great book full of cool jazz and beat poetry and fantastic illustrations by Tom Bagley and Molly Kiely. Visit the bongobeat page for more info on this book.

Sometime around 2nd to 3rd grade, children become obsessed with learning about animals. The wise parent and educator will provide resources that foster learning about dogs, cats, marine animals, birds, and other wildlife. The Children's Atlas of World Wildlife is an excellent addition to the family or classroom library. At first children just want to see all the kinds of animals that exist; then they want to know the names; and finally, they want to know where they live and why. This atlas answers all those questions for kids. The animals are presented in their ecosystems. A photograph represents the animal in their natural environment and discusses how each species lives and interacts in their environment. Colorful maps, appropriate for children, help youngsters explore regional climate, vegetation, and terrain and provides the reader with the reasons for why animals reside in their particular location of the world. A definitive glossary provides quick access to animal habitat vocabulary. World national parks and protective areas are identified. There is a section identifying endangered species. This is a tool that children will return to again and again.

The 5 th Edition of this book is the final and best edition of this book. The 5 th edition corrects a problem with the consumer price index chart that was incorrect in the 4th edition. The consumer price index chart is used to update the standard prices in the book to current pricing.

This book gives pricing in a graphical format of various industrial/commercial electrical equipment installations. Even though today software ia available to do this task, by seeing costs presented in a graphical form, one can easily gage whether going the "next size up" is a big cost adder or a marginal one.

The 5th edition was published in 1993. Even though still very serviceable, it would be great if an updated edition were made available.
