What an interesting collection of thought provoking poems! The style is cleverly straight-forward and beautifully written from the heart. Loved it.

This book is well written, excellently cited, and easy to follow even if you aren't interested in history. It was required for my husband's class but I read it out of curiousity. The real issue lies within the author's need to cite almost entire pages of other articles, books, etc. I really don't feel it made a difference in the overall presence.

Took a while to get it.

Mr. John Cafferky was my grade nine math teacher back in 1996. He taught at Father Henry Carr Catholic High School in Toronto. This book is fantastic. I assure you that it is not a biased statement. It is a brilliant book by a brilliant man and if you ever wondered about the evolution of man (or woman) and have always been inquisitive as far as religion versus science is concerned, than this book is a must read.

This game is fun. You act out Freddy Pharkas making medicine and living life in a western town. I wish they would come out with a newer version of this game to add to my collection.

The book wasn't too long and was in chorological order for his life. It gave information on past business deals and childhood activities. The book only goes up to 1999 so don't buy it if you need info on more current activities such as star wars 3

The experiments in this book are presented in an easy-to-follow and easy-to-understand format that older kids (9 up) can do on their own. The materials for the experiments are inexpensive and readily available in most households. Through simple worksheets (which can be filled in by either writing or drawing) the child learns the scientific method of question, hypothesis, procedure, observation, and conclusion. What my daughter and I also liked about the book was that each experiment not only helped her to better understand a scientific principle (ie;surface tension, light refraction) but also gave her a concrete understanding to some of the more abstract Biblical principals. For example, the lesson about the three forms of water as a solid, liquid, and gas was used to help explain the trinity. All of the experiments are hands-on. Even though the ages say 5-10, I wouldn't hesitate to give it to a 11 or 12 year old who was struggling with the subject. My daughter (11) had many "aha" moments while going through the book.

I was looking for something that would serve as a good introduction to the array of Google applications, and this book is well-suited to that task.

What you'll get:

* A good introduction to 12 or 13 of the newer Google applications. Ledford spends a little more time on the applications that are likely to be more popular (mail, docs, spreadsheets) and a little less time on some of the others (Picassa, chat, etc.). Overall, I thought the focus was just about right.

* Ledford explains the basics of each application. He offers some tips and tricks to using each application. He breaks the discussion up around different features, where appropriate (e.g., Google mail vs. the calendaring function within GMail). Along the way, readers will learn why a particular app might be more or less useful to them than competing applications (e.g., Google spreadsheets vs. Microsoft Excel). Ledford points out the most significant advantages AND drawbacks of each Google App, which is quite helpful.

* For my purposes, I was interested in evaluating the whole Google suite of applications so that I could consider whether to move my organization away from Microsoft's Office suite and toward online applications. This book is a great first-effort in helping assemble that sort of information. Undoubtedly, much more will be written about Google's suite of applications. As one of the first (if not the first) to undertake this endeavor, however, Ledford does a commendable job.

What you won't get:

* Extensive details on any one application. For example, if you want to become a GMail power user, then this book is not for you. Consider this a very basic introduction to the variety of Google applications. For an in-depth discussion, you would need to look elsewhere.

* A substitute for playing around with each application itself. It is one thing to read about Google's application suite; it is another to use and practice on the apps themselves. In my opinion, there is no substitute of knowledge gained through trying to use each of these applications. I read this manual while on a vacation in Spain, where I had no internet access. I likely would have found it more useful if I could have used some of the tips and recommendations in real time. That said, Ledford's book still serves its purpose as a good introductory guide.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know more about Google Apps but was afraid to ask, and to anyone who is considering whether to attempt a life without Microsoft Office. There are other alternatives to Office, but Google's Apps probably are the most prominent of them, and Ledford's book serves as a useful introduction to them.

The designs in this book are totally outdated (talk about the 80's!), but the commentary in it is valuable for any person who is searching for a way to relate interior design with Christianity. Andersen offered much wisdom on the subject, and left me with new understanding.

JCA is the Japan Creators' Association, and they compile and print great anthologies. I can't speak for this particular volume, but I have a volume "Diagraphics II," 12/94, ISBN 4-931154-21-2, 328 pgs, Y19,500. It is one of the best volumes on modern graphics communications.

It is primarily a compilation of graphical designs published around the world. Just great to get design ideas. It has sections on Graphs, Statistics, System Diagrams, Explanatory Diagrams, Tables, Maps, Encyclopedia Illustrations, Dissections and Medical Illustrations, Creative and Statistical Illustrations.

I got mine at a used local bookstore in the Graphic Arts section, for US$37.50 Since it is a large format portfolio book, I am sure it cost much more, at today's exchange rate, it is more than US$150.
