This book is what i use in collecting early U.K. coppers. It has photos of the different varieties and has been very helpful to me. The best i could find in this field.

Excellent Reference Book on the Coinage of England!

Richard Lobel has put together a definitive work on the coins of the UK and England from 1066 to present. The information is at its most informative when establishing rarity or variety. There are many line drawings to help the reader establish the differences in many of the earlier hammered coinage of England. This is in addition to the wonderful pictures of coins that are throughout this reference.

I would whole heartedly recommend this book for the serious collector of the coins of England and the UK.

The finest handbook of English coinage available today!!

The 1998 edition of the catalogue is vastly superior to previous editions of the work. The historical information, the pricing, the photographs, and the quality of the binding are all unsurpassed for reference works of this type. I am especially pleased with the line drawings that have been provided to help numismatists distinguish the various varieties of the Edwardian pennies. The collecting tips which are provided for each issue are also useful for those who have not spent a lifetime collecting the series. If you collect English coinage you MUST have this work on your shelf.

I am a teapot collector and tea enthusiast. When I saw this calendar, I had to have it. It's beautiful, colorful and full of tea settings to emulate. Each month is artfully displayed. My daughter loved the month of June setting so much, she is taking it and having framed as a print for her kitchen in her new apartment! I just recieved my 2000 calendar and am delighted with it. I will be ordering every year.

One of the most attractive and informative calendars.

I really enjoyed using the Tea Pot Calendar. Each year I have looked forward to the monthly information about tea and it use. Unfortuately, I have been disappointed this year in not being able to find one. If we're lucky the publisher will re-issue 1999!

A tea-rific way to spend the year.

"We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want." Tao-Te Ching Just like a teapot a new year is waiting to be filled with whatever we want. I received this delightful calendar as a gift. The photographs are colourful and draws the viewer to the tea table of the month. I feel as if I could join in for a spot of tea. The calendar is filled with history and lore in regards to each teapot and the tea table. Also, included are tea quotes for each month, both charming and enlightening. I look forward to the monthly tea parties within the calendar and filling my year with whatever I want.

I am usually a harsh reviewer and rarely give a book five stars except for one with strong scholarly content. This is one where I did give five stars because the book so adequately covered the necessary topics important to collecting this type of item. It is the most comprehensive book available for information on Fiesta.

Fantastic Book For The Flea Market and Antique Stores

Gonzalez is organized, thoughtful, and extremely visual in giving tips on how to recognize Vintage Fiesta from Post86 (reissued) Fiesta, as well as distinguishing knock-offs from the real thing! He discusses each of the impressed stamps and ink stamps used to identify Fiesta, as well as providing pictures of each stamp. He also shows how to measure items to distinguish Vintage from Post86. His value ranges are a bit high, but this book is invaulable when it comes to being a useful resource for new and seasoned collectors alike. This book is great to use hand in hand with the Huxfords' book. The values in the Huxfords are very accurate, but the book can be confusing - especially if you are at a Flea Market and need info quickly. Gonzalez will provide info clearly (and easy to find) without rambling.

Brand new, year 2000 hardback library volume of 182 pages. A beautiful book with a wealth of information and more than 800 full color, large, sharp photos. Covers from Homer Laughlin Lines, Taylor, Smith and Taylor Lines to Knowles, Mt. Clemens, Zephyr, Sevilla, Camwood and others. Item descriptions are very detailed and appear with great photos and values. The photos are exceptional, and true to life. A joy for collectors of colorware.

Excellent works, both Volumes I and II.
Very important that all photos in colour, grouped according to type.
Careful and clear document, with accompanying advertisement reproductions illustrating the compacts, the styles, the periods covered.
Carefully researched, very neat, clear easy to follow.
Huge selection, especially with 2 volumes.
Estimated values may/not be accurate, but author explains which models need what parts for best vlues.
I highly recommend.

Exceptional Guide for the compact collector.

I have both volumes and find these books easy to read with beautiful pictures and descriptions of compacts and carryalls. I reference these books everytime I am about to make a purchase. The compact values are listed under each picture with description so you don't have to look in another part of the book for the price as so many price guides are written. I highly recommend this book as well as volume 1 for any serious compact collector.

This volume, along with volume one, is the source for compacts. There are tons of color photos of everything from compacts and vanities to plies, powder boxes, rouge compacts, and advertising. Mueller gives fine intros to each of her topics, educating the reader on the makers, the different styles, and where to focus your collecting if you don't have big bucks. Mueller also doesn't jack up the prices to astronomical heights like Gerson's book--prices are reasonable and acceptable for easy- and hard-to find compacts. The book is well organized, and I'd be hard-pressed to see how to do this one better.

Quick easy guide for finding older Noritake china patterns and prices

Review Date: 2008-07-16
I inherited my grandmother's Noritake china set when she died, and wanted to know the year of production and what it was worth. The pictures of the maker's marks and patterns were very useful. I discovered our pattern was made in 1931, and was worth about $2,500! Not that I would ever part with such a sentimental gift...It's just nice to know the history of something. Thanks to the author for her research!

I found this book to be logical and informative. The foundation of this book is based upon the chronilogical use of each mark. The patterns are then listed alphabetically within the time period that "mark" was used. Because of this book - all my freinds and colleages think of me as a "Early Noritake Expert" - I dont have the heart to tell them that I am not! I highly recommend this book to any and all collectors and/or dealers of Noritake!

I actually met Dr. Smith at the Creek Chub Show in Garret, Indiana. I purchased his book there and have enjoyed it ever since. Smith actually grew up in Garret and offers insight on the community and company that is priceless. Make this a part of your lure resource library today. It is truely a great source of lure information. It sets a standard for all Creek Chub publications to follow. Enjoy the book, at a great price.

Review Date: 2007-06-14

I collect older (collectible) MADE IN JAPAN items and therefore I have quite a few books on the subject. This book is not complete but quite helpful. Photos are nice.

Many different volumes have been written on this subject. Infact, I own 3 other books on this subject.

When "Made in Japan" collectibles were issued there were sooooo many different items sold, that it would be impossible to include all of them in just one book. The author tried and did a good job though.

She did it again!

Carole Bess White has put together an exhaustive reference work on Japanese ceramics from the early 20th century to today. Her extensive research really pays off in this book, crammed full of photos of all types.

Bess covers everything from ash trays to water sets, candy dishes to salt & pepper sets, Satsuma to souvenir plates. I especially like the many photos of various backstamps (marks) she provides. The book has over 250 pages of photos, and includes catalog pages from current novelty producers. If you're interested in collectible ceramics "Made in Japan", don't hesitate to buy this book!
